Donway Ford, Scarborough Reviews (2)
Great selection of trucks... Priced agressive
I generally like to do most of my own repairs on my car but if there is something that I cannot do I'll bring my car into the Donway Ford service department. So far I have been very impressed with the work that they have done. I've been servicing my car here since Rowland Lincoln Mercury closed about ten years ago.
The only downside is as with any car dealership is the cost of parts and labour, which is why I gave them a four and a half star rating.
But seeing that I only want genuine Ford parts in my car and knowledgeable mechanics working on it, I guess that is the price I have to pay.
I'm also impressed with their parts department as well, as they have very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Since I drive a fifteen year old car I'm impressed that they often are able to find parts for it, especially seeing some of the parts are now obsolete - they must have some old stock hiding away somewhere.
Overall I'm impressed with Donway Ford's service and parts department, and I would recommend them if you only dealer service your vehicle.
EDIT: I've down graded the rating to a 3 star as I feel that their service department is not what it use to be. I went in for an oil change back in November 2013 and I was forced to wait over three hours for my car. Their claim was that they were busy, even-though I had booked an appointment a couple of months earlier. At one point they parked my car on the back lot without even informing me that it was done, then they said they had to take it back in because they put the wrong oil in it. I asked for synthetic and they put in conventional oil. It was the cashier who caught the mistake and not the mechanic or service adviser, so kudos to the cashier, at least she was on the ball.
When doing oil changes they use to offer a multi-point inspection for free and now they conveniently slip that into the bill at the cost of around $35.00, plus along with all the other sneaky little fees such as environmental and oil disposal fees.
Not being impressed with their recent service I decided to go back to doing my own oil change in the spring. Well when I did the oil change I had a difficult time getting the drain plug loose. Once I got it off I noticed that it was stripped. After checking the drain hole on the pan I was relieved to find that it was not damaged. Thankfully I had a spare drain plug on hand so I installed that. So needless to say I am no longer impressed with Donway Ford's service department, so I'll just stick to servicing my own car, at least I'll get it done right.
Now I just hope that their parts department hasn't gone down hill as well.
