Cosmic catering went beyond what we were expecting, Monique and staff felt more like family, their enthusiastic and professional attitude really made our day special. Having someone like this on our wedding day really made the difference. Also they really fit our budget. We can't stop talking about the food, it was delicious! I highly recommend cosmic. We love you Monique!!!!!!

Monique catered my wedding and the food was absolutely fantastic and the service was very good. Her staff were helpful and walked my elderly family members through the food line and back to their tables. Monique herself is very kind and a lovely person to deal with even through the stress I was under while planning my wedding. Thank you cosmic catering!!

Thank-you Monique and staff for the best New Year's Party ever! We often host parties for our friends for a variety of special events. This year we decided to have a catered sit down dinner on December 31, 2014. Monique and I had met in the summer to discuss the plan and the menu. The menu that Monique suggested for us was absolutely delicious - five courses served to us in good time by four very efficient servers. I was excited but also nervous about my party and wanted it to be a success. I clearly remember Monique's reassuring words to me as I sat down. "Relax and enjoy your dinner party. I will take care of everything". And she did. The food was SO GOOD, the service was great, my kitchen sparkled afterwards, and Cosmic Catering did a superb job for us. The fancy dinner set the stage for the rest of our party and we had fun into the early morning hours. My guests (all retired Port Coquitlam Firefighters) were very impressed and have been contacting me for days afterwards to thank us for such a lovely evening - one we will all remember for a long time. Thank-you Monique!

(Of note - we had zero issues with Cosmic catering. The prices were fair, the food was excellent, the service was efficient, the billing and payment procedures were easy and as expected, the clean-up was quick and perfect, the follow-up contact with Monique was timely. I highly recommend her company to anyone who is using a caterer for a first time (like me). The experience was stress free and enjoyable. I will definitely use Cosmic Catering for future functions)

The owner, Monique Campbell, is a professional chef and a very friendly person who goes all out to attend to the needs of her customers. I have been a guest at a variety of functions catered by this company ranging from large informal buffets to an intimate 5-course dinner party. On all occasions the food has been appropriate to the occasion and of a high standard. The tables have looked beautiful. There have been some lovely personal touches and Monique has been a hands-on, sensitive and pleasant hostess. I have recommended her services to others.

I recently hired this company to provide service at my mother's celebration of life. There were a couple disappointments which I was willingly to overlook until the owner/manager asked my brother for payment at the exact moment he was getting up to speak his euolgy for his mother. I had prepaid a deposit on the day I booked the date. The agreement I had with the owner was I would provide her with the balance (in the form of a cheque) at the end of the event. We had an buffet luncheon and were beginning the prayers and words of love when the owner decided to demand full payment. She was well aware the event was from one oclock to four oclock. At two thirty she decided to throw out all the remaining sandwiches and leave. She planned on coming back later to clear the dishes and remove the linen. This apparently is her practise. My brother did not have the cheque with him as he wasn't expecting to pay for a few hours. He had to ask those around him to dig into their pockets right then. In addition I had been her contact throughout the planning of the event so I will never understand what possessed her to not come to me. When I asked her she said I was busy. On the saddest day of my family's life we met one of the most avarice and insensitive people I have had the misfortune to ever know.

I was very dissapointed to see such a poor review when in fact this client was able to pick up the linens a few days before the event and I lent her bud vases for her flowers for no charge and lent her all the china dishware for no charge. I was very concerned of the food safety at this event as the temperate was over 80o F for the event. After the sandwiches were exposed at this temperature for over three hours , yes I did throw out the few remaining sandwhiches as I did not want her guests to get sick. She also put out a salad that was not made by me without permission with shrimp in it and it was not put on ice as she said she would considering that I provided her with 50 lbs of ice. The food service was scheduled from 1:00 to 2:30 and at 3:00 I disposed of all dangerous food. Yes I did leave which took about 30 seconds to drive off and return at the time that she had said which was supposed to be at 4:00 p.m. I had not heard from her and finally returned to retrieve my equipment and linens which were left until 6:30 p.m. and I also provided extra linens at no charge. I knew her Mom and felt very sad at her loss and I did not show any disrespect at the service. She was very rude to me and her guests kept apologizing for her behaviour. I did not say anything at all to her because she was definitely under the influence of alcohol. I am sorry that she feels this way but I went over and beyond the requirements of this event just like all of the events. Maybe she should be appreciative for all the extras that I did for her.

Food was average. good sauce. Equipment and flatware worse for wear. We could accept these things because we did seem to be getting a fairly decent deal given it was last minute. What was most fishy were 15% charges that I have never seen on other catering invoices before. When questioned staff knew nothing, referred us to owner Monike who never responded, never checked afterwards to see how we enjoyed, or, for us, did not enjoy the food and service.
Have yet to see similar mentions of odd charges on the internet. I arrange for my company Christmas party catering for 12+ years and have never seen items requiring a customer to pay for health authority fees or professional association fees of any sort on any caterer invoice. Strange billing , owner took no interest in her own service, average food, poor equipment. Overall very disappointed.

Unfortunately this was written by a employee that was let go on August 23,2014 and all this information is incorrect and when someone does not identify themselves it proves that they are not clients at all. Too bad that they have to steep so low to try to hurt a companies reputation over being let go. I wish her the best in her next job, but no recommenation will come from me. Monique Campbell Owner

I have you a message however it should be made public that neither my wife, my children or I have ever worked for your company. We were told to search online for fees that were charged. Two local caterers who we have used previously informed us they were suspicious and unknown to them. Our daughter believed you that they were legal and mandatory.

If my wife had been well enough at the time to organise the catering you would never have been able to pull the wool over our eyes.

We attempted to contact you to resolve the issue and you have never once responded.

Back in 2004 and 2006 I'd been to 3 events and helped organise another and Cosmic was amazing. our wedding planner warned us about cosmic but I could not believe the reputation she spoke of. How times have changed!
food was pretty good. it always was. not bad for the price but not even close to enough for our head count. the last table up were scraping away at what was left.
bread rolls hard. "in house" desserts were cheap cut up store bought. however we loved the beautiful fruit platter.
owner very accommodating leading up to wedding but then at the event she was so rude. making remarks about our dinner running late by 10 minutes and being disrespectful to the staff in front of our guests. complained about us needing to make last minute adjustments.
the linens were clean but some were stained and looked bad.
coffee pot was simply disgusting.
once upon a time I would never even consider another caterer. 8 years later and it is a sadly different story. so disappointed at how much it has changed for the poorer. everything looks old.
no staff to be seen between dinner and the end so when we needed more cups since they took off with China ones which we were using for the punch because not enough clear plastic cups were brought. only one staff member to clean up everything.

Same staff member that was let go. And again we have never run out of food EVER at at function. Linens are rented from Canadian Linen and are always white and crisp. And as far as dinner running late, that is very common at all funtions esspecialy weddings and we accommodate them as needed. I have had functions run up to an hour late. We are always on time and are patient with lateness. I have never been rude to a client nor will I ever be. I always use the best of all food products available and always will. Really very average, and over priced.

I was ordering 3 events, this was close to double the cost of the others, but I was pushed for time, and it was a last minute booking. I can see why they were available.

Although the service was friendly and good (just delivered and picked up food) the food itself was very average.

Baked goods and fruit and coffee.

The coffee was average, and in old equipment, which I was assured was going to be "top-of-the-line"

Again, same staff member let go. All Coffee pots are cleaned and bleached out upon return from functions, there is never any debree inside or outside of the urns. Sometimes breaker switches will shut down because coffee pots require alot of power. Once set up they are tested immediately. There are only two halls in Maple Ridge with this problem and I have informed the care takers of this situation. Because I have been to nearly every hall many times over the last 20 years, I am very familiar with the power problems. Planet Ice has the worst problems with power and need to have an electrician come in and rectify the problem. As far as ordering three events is impossible to do and we also do not let anyone pick up food from our place of business. ALL FOOD IS DELIVERED AND A STAFF MEMBER IS ALWAYS IN ATTENDANCE. IT IS TOTALLY NOT FOOD SAFE TO TRANSFER FOOD INTO SOMEONE ELSES VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY COFFEE. As far as food costs, our prices are affordable and top quality. It is too bad that this comment is completely untrue and really, people know that this is a lie.

Cosmic Catering has won best caterer for 10 years and has donated many items to their Municipality. Portable hearing aid testing equipment for schools. Special reading equipment for the seniors centre, MS Society meals for their annual run. B.C. lung association meals for their annual run and many other donations made to different oganizations. They give back to their community and are always available to people in need.

We have won many awards right up until last year, this years have not been awarded as of yet. My office walls speak for themselves with framed awards. We are still the same business and have even gotten better with age. Like a fine wine.Again this is still the same ex employess grasping at straws to try to hurt my reputation. Unfortunately we are still extremely busy and look foreward to serving you in the future

I was surprised to hear that type of a review as i was alao at the mrss grad and thought the food was delicious. I did notice that students were filling their plates to the point where food was falling off their plates. I know that they were making announcements about waiting for secinds but many were not listening to the announcements. I felt the staff were very professiinal and really were doing a good job. I found this to be a great event with great food and a great company as far as i am concerned.

Cosmic catered mrss 2012 grad. They ran out of food to 25 or better percent of the party. One of the staff came up to our table right after we sat to eat and asked if they could clear our plates. One also took my wife's plate away while she was still eating. Not very good Cosmic. I would tell the class of 2013, not to cater from you. I will tell every one not to cater from you. The school diserves an apologie!!!!!

We were informed that there would be 960 people at this event. After going through 1050 plates we were not given the proper count of guests at this event and the school was given $5000.00 donation for any inconvience that had occurred. There were still all the salads, and the Beef and chicken, we did run out of Vegetarian lasagna but we also donated it for no charge. The $5000.00 was to give back to a few people that did not get the two items that we ran out of. Please keep in mind that we charge $18.00 per person for this event and you are charged $50.00 or more for your grad ticket. So we gave back to the school willingly over 100 full price tickets. My daughter goes to this school and we will keep an open and positive relationship with the teachers. I will never cater another event at Planet Ice. It is not a food safe area to be presenting food for over 1000 people nor is it fire regulated for so many people. It is simply just is so dirty and too many tickets are sold not even including my 20 staff at the event.

Totally UNIMPRESSED with the lack of proffessionalism at the Garibaldi Graduation dinner. Not only did they run out of food before all the guests had eaten they had no coffee for those who were lucky enough to eat. There was no experience with cleaning tables they were still cleaning when most guests wer done dancing and leaving. My recomendation is to pass the word how bad their service was.

Maybe it should be known that the night of the Garibaldi Graduation, the pipes burst in the catering area and so all the water was shut off and the power in the back room turned off at the source. We were completely without water for over two hours and no power to put on the four coffee pots (400 cups) we had brought four hundred coffee already made and tried to make more. As far as cleaning tables we were unable to clear as quickly as usual because the area at the back was being used by service tech. to(electricians, plumbers etc.) We did not run out of food but actually returned to Cosmic with leftovers. All the left over food safe items, desserts etc went to the dry grad. So before you make comments you should be aware of what really went on. I feel that my staff did a fabulous job under the circumstances that we were under.

I had Cosmic Catering cater our wedding and the owner Monique WAS FABULOUS. tHE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS, HOT AND PLENTIFUL. THE STAFF WERE SO HELPFUL WITH ASSISTING THE BRIDAL PARTY AND ELDERLY GUESTS BACK TO THEIR Seats with their plates. She wad Hands on throughout the whole event. it was amazing. If you want them to cater your wedding you better book soon as It took us over a year to have them. Thanks again for making our day memorable!

I USED COSMIC CATERING FOR MY WEDDING AND FOUND THEM VERY REASONABLE IN THEIR PRICES COMPARED TO ALL THE OTHER CATERERS I CONTACTED. tHE SURVICE WAS SUPURB AND I USED MY CREDIT CARD FOR EVERY TRANSACTION AND I WAS CHARGED EXACTLY WHAT I WAS QUOTED. I ALSO RECEIVED THE INVOICE THE DAY OF MY WEDDING AND SO DID MY FRIEND BECKY WHO ALSO USED COSMIC CATERING . I THINK THAT WHOEVER THIS JUS GUY IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT HIS OR HER EVENT. MONIQUE IS SO EASY TO CONTACT, SHE GAVE US HER CELL PHONE NUMBER AND HER HOME PHONE NUMBER JUST IN CASE WE HAD ANY QUESTIONS AFTER HOURS. SHE WENT THE EXTRA MILE IN EVERY ASPECT OF OUR WEDDING. Again same ex employee, Actually getting tired of explaining all the details of payments. Yes we do except cheques until the day of the wedding when the final payment is due in cash. We started this procedure after having three cheques NSF last year from Brides from out of town and we didn't lose as much money as the tent rental folks and one decorator was burned for over $3000.00 Unfortunely you do not know this has happened until about a week later and two of these brides were from Ontario and were unable to locate. I would love for CRA to check out the books as all the invoices are filed with invoice # and tax numbers and yes the cheques are to be paid to Monique Campbell c/o Cosmic Catering Inc. We have had cheques returned because of misspelling of Company name and listed as LTD. instead of Inc. The financial institutions have to have all the information to be correct and accurate because of the filing of company name through the resgistar of companies. We do not accept credit cards because the bank charges for this usage is alot of money. The last time I took credit cards was nearly three years ago and the fees for the bank were $1472.00 for one month. More and more small busineses are stopping taken credit cards and only debit. If you check other caterers web sites, they all charge a 15% surcharge and this charge covers many items. Food price increases, linen price increases, fuel charges, delivery and set ups and clean ups. The average wedding is four or more trips to and from the halls where ever they are located. These charges are not food costs but operating costs. Most of the weddings that I do are booked more than a year in advance and I stick to the price upon booking, no matter what increase acccue throughout the time frame of the event. By the way I have had CRA come and do an audit on my books and every thing was perfect. That is why you use professional bookkeepers and accountants to file all the year end material.

I have never written a bad review before, but I also have never had a anyone continue to overcharge my credit card after an agreed to price.

I won't go into details here but just know that we were charged an additional $750 after the event and despite several attempts to contact Monique in the end I had to call VISA to cancel my credit card so that no more fradulant charges would be apperaing.

We had several other suppliers for our wedding and they were all amazing, with the exception of Cosmic Catering. I would advise you to be careful before committing to their services. Ensure you have everything in writing and pay cash only, to be honest, I just wouldn't recommend Cosmic Catering at all.

You were never charged anymore than what you paid for. We went the extra mile for your wedding. We repaired your dessert buffet by some other company that was absent. Then you called me at 1:00 a.m. to come and clean up the mess from your bartenders that did not do their job, again that is not my responsibility. But I drove 35 miles back into the City to do their clean up. Your Visa was never overcharged for anything that you were not aware of. We also packaged up all your left overs for you to take with you for your gift opening. We also cleaned up the fallen trees from an absent decorator. I think you should re-do this review and be gracious with having a hands on caterer to do the work of all the other vendors you used but were absent and lacked professionalism. I wish you the best with your marriage.

Same ex employee, obviously too much time of her hands. should focus her attention on finding another job. I was not rude about this at all but I sure wasn't happy driving back to Vancouver Public Library at 1:oo AM to clean up a horrible mess.

Cosmic catered our wedding recently and offered stellar service to everybody who came.
The owner's attention to detail was impressive. She walked me through the food lineup so I wouldn't get food on my dress. Everything I needed done was done and when our bar service didn't bring any ice, she sent one of her staff out to get some. These are the things that go above and beyond the excellent food. Cosmic even supplied special meals to a few of our friends who have food allergies. I recommend her to anyone.

We used Cosmic Catering for our wedding and after some weather mishaps the food definitely saved the day for us. They have superb service. The staff walked the wedding party through the food table so we wouldn't mess up our clothes and they helped all the elderly people with their plates. As for the food, it was fantastic, with lots of variety and so fresh. They have incredible Caesar salad. We went back for seconds and thirds. The owner Monique really made our day special with her sunny personality. They have won the local newspaper's Readers Choice contest every year.

Canceled a function after paying their required deposit plus an extra 1000$. Was told that any monies paid to them counted as a deposit and refused to refund the extra monies. Will never use them or recommend them again.

As far as we know, all deposits are non-refundable. That's the point of a deposit, isn't it? Sounds like sour grapes to us.

thats NOT how you run a business!! yes if you cancel you shouldnt get your deposit back but yes she should have given the other monies back. i too would be bitter too!!

All Deposits for events are non refundable, and it specifies that very clearly upon booking. What would be the point of taking deposits for weddings. When you cancel a wedding on short notice because of a break up that prevents the cater to book another event for that day. So the caterer actually loses the most. I have re-scheduled several weddings over the last 20 years because of a family illness, deaths etc. One especially when a hall was overbooked. I just transfered the deposit money to the next available date. In this case the bride to be, called and said the wedding is off and hung up. Two months later after the date that the wedding would have taken place the Mother of the to be bride
asks for the money back. First of all I did not know who she was and secondly she was not my client, her daughter was. I had never heard from the bride to be again. Thats too bad that they broke up but why should I be the bad person. I was just going by the normal procedure that caterers do. I lost the most by not being able to book another wedding in six weeks so I should be upset, but I actually feel sorry for this family.

events I've organised with catering, halls, etc you have to pay them deposit. then you can get a percentage only refunded if there is plenty of notice. generally one month to 6 weeks notice so that they can book something else.
as for the.comment of deposit plus $1000. what was the $1000 extra for and if it wasn't part of the deposit why was it not otherwise refunded?
ultimately every service provider has their terms which they should discuss and have clients sign.
I prefer to choose those who will at least refund partial payment if enough notice given.

All deposits are non refundable and the client is aware of this from the booking of their event. This bride and fiance broke up shortly before this wedding. I was contacted by the mother, who was not my client and I offered many ways of carrying forward the deposit to a further date in case they got back together. I am the one that lost out a prime date for a wedding, so as you see it works both ways.
