K & W Audio

I dropped in and received some pretty good advice from one of their salesmen as I was looking to install a full system in my home which was already roughed in for sound on all 4 floors. I called them after a couple of weeks or so to have a consultant come and check things out and make recommendations as to what would comprise a decent system. I called on a weekday and he was apparently busy so I left a message for him to return my call. The call was never returned so I called again in a couple of days. He was apparently on vacation at the time but assured me that he would call me on a certain date when he returned. This never happened for whatever reason.

I really wanted the Totem speakers so did a search and came up with Sounds of Music in Calgary. They were very prompt and are installing 14 Totem speakers including two on wall Fire red tribe lll and 4 Tribe ll speakers, 3 subwoofers, two Pioneer SC-79 receivers and various Sonos and VC components. Not sure if I got the best deal, but the service has been great so far and that makes up for a lot as far as I'm concerned.

Still disappointed in the lack of response from K & W. I likely should have pushed things up the food chain, but am more than happy so far with the response and attention from Sounds of Music and am looking forward to the installation on Sept. 22 and 23.

I moved into a home with a whole house sound system in it that didn't work. I picked these guys off the web and sent them an email.

A nice service guy got back to me right away, and talked me thru doing some trouble shooting (patiently!)on the phone the next day.

They got me going and I appreciated the service.

I really don't know much about the latest audifile stuff - but I know I need to figure this stuff out if I want to keep listening to music - look at what's going on with Cd's and I know some people think venal is cool but I missed that boat completely.
I've ridden the bus by thre for years always thinking I ahold stop by some day and long ( wife related) story later I did. The store is a bit intimidating to begin with - lots of obviously high end stff but the 2 salesmen let me walk around it bout feeling like a zombie.
When I talked to one I found him friendly, seemingly legitimately interested in listening first and the helping too. Looking back, I didn't make it easy for him but he did find a Sonos solution that I just love. I men LOVE! It's so easy to use, and io wouldn't even have known what to look for - just a great result.
Go there - see Andrew and be happy. I did, and now I'm the audifile to my friends ( and most importantly wife!)

I was looking for a new set of speakers to replace the ones I bought in University years ago. I wanted speakers that blew me away like the old ones did so long ago, but I also wanted to use my iPod.

I talked to Geoff at the store, and he really knows his high end stereo. I Listend to Totem, Usher and Martin Logan - all cool lines via an iPod just to make sure I was listenting to what I'd want. They all sounded light years beter than what I had already. He pointed out that I need to change settings in iTunes to get the best sound from my ipod as well as let me really take my time listening.

I bougt Totem Forests and with his advice on the ipod ended up with even better sound than I heard in the store. Highly Reccomended!

I thought I did a lot of research to find a professional shop, sadly I did not do enough. I chose K&W, but was very disappointed with the recommended products and the service.

The salesman appeared to be very well informed, but after he had my money, he treated me with contempt. Any problems that I had were my problems, not his.

Shortly after I made the purchase, but had not received the items, I informed the salesman that the manufacturer specifically mentions not to use the type of screen with the type of projector. When I mentioned this, my concerns were dismissed and was told "everything would be fine". When everything was installed, the deficiency that the manufacturer identified was obvious. When I informed K&W about the problem, I was told that they would be happy to SELL me the correct screen for the application. When there was a problem with the projector they told me that I had to deal with the manufacturer directly. They were even "kind" enough to recommend an audio web site where I could sell the screen that I bought...

I will never purchase anything from this store again.

I should also mention that I even dealt with the owner of the store!

I was renovating my home, and decided to call around for advice on a theater in my basement. Talked to lots of shops who couldn't be bothered, then I called K&W Automation.
I talked to a very helpful person (James and later Trevor) who seemed to really understand what was what. Long story short, they came out, recommended about 50 things I didn't even think of, and took over and completed a home theater and home audio system that just blows my mind!
Just a cool company with really good people. Highly recommended!
