Zehrs Food Plus, St Catharines Reviews (5)
Last couple of times we have visited this store we have found there is only one person "manning" the automated cashiers. As owners of 2 businesses in the region that employ people we find the lack of service and a "push" to use cold machinery instead of a friendly cashier an absolute insult.
It seems that we would like to talk to a person vs be barked at by a machine. We will never be back to this zehrs and we wonder who will be spending money locally in the economy when all the cashiers are replaced by machines..its the beginning of the end so we will spend money where the company employs real people vs machines!

Great staff at the front end. Very few on though. Will not be forced to go thru the self serve.
I would like to comment on your employee named Phil. He has not been at the store for very long but has made my shopping experience even nicer than it was before. He always greets the shopper and asks if he can be of any help. He deserves some praise! Keep up the good work Phil.

I am not impressed with their new policy which has the cashier scan everything before "helping" the customer pack. I went there because I knew I had a large order. The total was almost $400,so there was simply not enough room for the cashier to PILE everything I was purchasing, so I had to stop taking my groceries out of the buggy to scan and start packing. The customer behind me started putting her groceries up while I was packing, so I had to hand each item that was left in my buggy to the cashier to scan. I was a regular customer because of the customer service. If I am getting good service than I don't mind paying a higher price for the groceries. With the lack of service at Zehrs, I may as well shop where the prices are lower.
I had the unfortunate experience of shopping at the above mentioned store, Saturday May 30/09. The store seems last messy than last time, and they do have packers now, however the cashiers are rude and lazy. Try to avoid if you can.
