I first joined this gym about 3 years ago as my teenage son wanted to go and was too young to attend without an adult. A staff spent a good chunk of time with me going through the contract, answering my many questions and taking me for a guided tour, I felt confident knowing what the terms and conditions were, no hidden fees or sneaky wording there, so I signed up. So there I was, being a good Mom, stepping way out of my comfort zone into a foreign land of what appeared to be torture machines and strange devices, lol. I must say, it took a lot of courage for me to go. We signed up with a trainer and from day 1 felt happy and comfortable, often laughing at my own learning curve and feeding off all the encouragement and friendliness from other members and our trainer. Within about 3 weeks, I was hooked. I noticed I got off on the happy buzz after workouts, felt stronger and more alive, was sleeping better, started to feel part of an eclectic community of gym rats, and spent at least an hour 3 times a week with my teenage son doing something healthy together. After a year, my son quit to pursue other interests but to everyone's surprise, I stayed on. I started to bench press and dead lift, nothing big, yet I felt like Wonder Woman, such a boost to my aging confidence. My trainer was huge on proper form, and to this day whenever I lift something (even a big box at home) I can hear her words "CORE!", lol! I missed a few months due to a devastating illness, I could not get out of bed some days and I longed for the days when I had energy and stamina and strength. I slowly recovered, and when I came back, I was welcomed like an old friend, there were still quite a few familiar faces. I had to start slow, so my first day back was 10 minutes on the tread mill, that was all I could do, no one laughed at me or make me feel less than. I am a few weeks back now, and am starting to do resistance training and portions of my old routines. Already I feel stronger and happier. Never say never, if I turned into a happy gym rat, you might just too! I can't say enough good things about this gym, it is clean, well Managed, friendly and everyone belongs no matter your size, shape, age, or goals. North Hill World Health rocks and I confidently recommend it to anyone!

I have been back to this World Health location for about 9 months now after being away for 5 years and I am ultra impressed with every thing that has improved. The club has undergone a huge renovation since that time. It is one of the cleanest clubs I have ever been to and there has been an outstanding improvement in the level of professionalism of the staff. If you are looking for a convenient, clean, gym with some of the friendliest staff and members around, check out World Health in North Hill mall.

This is gym is decked out with all the goodies, free group fitness, personal training is included with memberships, and it's got olympic lifting weights, TRX and nothings restricted for time or sign in sheets!

They fix their equipment within 48-92hrs which is quite impressive, most places take weeks to fix their broken stuff.

This gym is very well Managed. It is always clean. Equipment is well maintained and the staff and Management are very friendly. This makes it easy to keep coming back which is what someone needs when they are attempting to get the most use out of their gym membership. Definitely one of the more comfortable gym atmospheres I have been in.

This is an excellent gym. I live in the area and attend five times per week. The hours are great. I have been there a few times at 5:00 am. What amazes me is how chipper the front desk girl is at that time. I need to get 15 minutes into my cardio at that time to even wake up. This place is well Managed. It is clean and equipment is well maintained. I once reported to the Manager Trevor that the steam room wasn't working, I expected it to be down for at least a week like some other gyms I have been to, to my amazement it was up and running the next day. The facility is a decent size with lots of squat racks and floor space for deadlifting, two key exercises in my routine. There are plenty of free weights, benches and circuit machines like most other gyms, but as mentioned earlier in my review, they are all astonishingly clean. There are also group programs included. So far I have only tried lift, it was a decent workout, but I wasn't blown away by it and I won't be replacing my routine with it anytime soon. There is also child care which comes in handy sometimes when I work out on weekends and need some child care for my son. The floor staff are pretty helpful too, I appreciated the advice I got from one of the trainers with my dead lift form one day last week. I don't know if they planned it, but shortly after that trainer gave me advice another said "good job on the form, looking good" as they walked by. This kind of encouragement is welcome even after 15 years in various gyms. Overall World Health has and continues to exceed my expectations.

A WARNING to all of those currently a member of, or thinking of joining World Health gym:

World Health at North Hill makes their money by scamming young adults (a.k.a. waitresses who are paid less than minimum wage) and tricking/pressuring them into misleading contracts that they do not fully explain.

I am an 18-year-old waitress and I have never signed a gym contract in my life, which is something I emphasized prior to signing up. Without a trace of compassion, empathy, or conscience for what they were doing, I was faced with extreme pressure to sign a 12 month contract. Worst mistake I have ever made.

I asked before and during my training, four separate times (each different staff members) if:
1. There were any costs I did not know about.
2. If I would have to pay a large sum of money if I finished all of my training sessions, but had to leave before the year was up.
3. If I had to pay a large sum of money if I did not finish my training sessions at all.

The answers to the following questions were NO, every single time. The staff had evaded my questions for obvious reasons; had they been truthful or at least clear and concise with their answers, I would have never put myself in this situation.
I made it extremely clear before I officially signed up for training, that I could not afford more than what I was paying per month (a ridiculous $130.) I asked once again, that if I left early but finished my set amount of training sessions, would I be charged when I cancelled my contract? My personal trainer told me NO, so I felt assured and agreed to begin training.

I am now faced with a very sudden and unexpected move back to Ontario, and I tried to cancel my contract; thus I discovered the absurd $600 they are charging me before I am allowed to cancel.

I tried to discuss this matter with the general manager of North Hill World Health, Trevor Portsmouth. I don't think I have EVER met a more unprofessional and disrespectful general manager. Trevor was DISGUSTINGLY rude to me, from the second he met me; I tried to remain pleasant but I refused to put up with his arrogant and demeaning attitude. I asked the reception if I was able to speak to a manager for a quick few minutes, because I had to get back to work. Out comes Trevor who immediately begins to tell me in a condescending manner, that he doesn't have time for me, that he has "time sensitive" projects, and essentially that I was at fault for interrupting that.
He told me he would make an appointment with me and I had no problem with that; however I told him I needed a question answered before I could book the appointment with him.

As I am trying to ask (for the FIFTH time) if I had to pay an extra sum of money if I did not finish my 9 training sessions. If so I would continue going to the gym, but if not I would cancel my last four; I made this question very clear to him but he acted bewildered and told me he didn't know the answer because he did not know what my contract consisted of (shouldn't the general manager know this simple question?)
I was persistent with the same question, and tried to tell him once again that I needed to know that moment, before I could book the appointment; he continuously interrupted me by saying he didn't have time for me, and that he had projects to finish by 5:00. He then went on to say that he had to meet his grandfather in the hospital, and that I "obviously didn't care" and that it "meant nothing to me" because I was apparently still taking up 5 minutes of his precious time. He said he "might as well call his grandfather and tell him he can't come" implying that it would be my fault that he couldn't go.

Trevor Portsmouth makes it very obvious that his customers are the dirt under his fingernails, and the staff will do anything they can to suck money out of you.

Yes I did sign the contract, and yes I learned my lesson. I also know of 5 co-workers who are victims of your system, which only fuels my belief you are doing something very wrong. I haven't been able to buy groceries for two weeks to begin with, and now because of world health, I will now be going hungry for an entire month. Not only that, but I am also out $600 to pay for my move across the country. Congratulations World Health! You win! I wish you all the best in keeping your gym running by scamming kids who cant afford it.

Ps. Knowing a member of the family is sick can be difficult, I for one can understand, having just lost my aunt last month. I am also currently struggling with a sick grandparent , but that does not, and will not change the way I choose to treat others (especially in a professional environment.)
I truly wish I had the luxury of visiting my sick family members, like yourself.

I took hours of my own day, and spent hundreds of dollars to come to World Health gym; all I asked for in return was 5 minutes of your time.

My husband and I both joined this gym because it was close to our home and easy to get to. We both soon noticed that every time we worked out we would get watery eyes and a runny nose. My husband also experienced some tightness in his chest. When we looked at the ceiling we realized that they have loose insulation throughout the entire gym. It is constantly falling and with the fans going it is in the air all the time. We contacted the mall manager who told us not to worry and we left a message for the general manager of the gym which was not returned. We have both quit and they still charged us a penalty which was over $400.00. We are just happy to be out of there, as we joined a gym to improve our health, not to make it worse!

I signed up with World Health Club for a two year contract. Never when signing up was I told that even after the contract was finished would they continue to charge me each month. My contract was supposed to expire on November 15, 2009, which I had called in October to confirm. When calling, I was never told that I would still be charged and had to actually come into the club and fill out a form 30 days prior to my last day. Imagine my surprise when I was charged for December after my contract had expired. As soon as I noticed the charge, I called the gym to discuss. I was told that I had to come in to fill out a form to cancel (the first I heard of such form). I made it in as soon as I could and when the appropriate manager was in. He told me that I could do nothing about December's charge, but PERHAPS he could have January's charge removed. Since it was closer than 30 days to January 1 (my charge date), they were going to charge me for January as well. I called the head office to see if she could help me. She said there was nothing she could do. I should have noticed the fine print on the contract that I had signed OVER TWO YEARS AGO! Needless to say, I was not impressed. Poor customer service. Please make sure that you take note of when you sign up with World Health, as they will not let you know about this paperwork that takes 30 days to process. Also, I would recommend Good Life Fitness.
