Karat Jewellers

I'm extremely disappointed in my service provided by Karat jewellers. I brought a very special ruby ring that my mother got me as a gift in Africa to them for repair. I needed a side stone and the setting fixed. The ruby was in perfect condition and the man who worked there even mentioned what a nice quality ruby it was and what great condition it was in when I brought it in for repair.
Upon picking it up and bringing it home I noticed that there was a quite large and noticeable chip in the top of the ruby. I was devastated because I know that a chip cannot be easily fixed and this was such a special ring to me. I brought it in and nicely told them about the chip that must have somehow happened while they were repairing other parts of the ring. The staff were very condescending with me. They checked the file from when I first brought the ring in and there was no mention of a chip (because there was no chip prior to me dropping the ring off with them). They then just continued negate blame even though at this point the answer was quite obvious. It's not even the money I spent on the repair that bothers me. It's that fact that a very sentimental piece of jewelry is now ruined and the staff won't even apologize or take credit for the damage.

Both of these reviews are spot on I just experienced the same ignorant arrogant rude owner they both did. And yes he did break the ring I had in for resize and yes he did charge me to fix his mistake. What a terrible businessman oh and yes he did continue to tell at me as I was leaving the store. People sitting outside were laughing it must happen all the time!! Hahaha

I went to get my engagement ring resized, it ended up being to big so I went back today. The manager wouldn't even look at my ring, he just said that he doesn't make mistakes and if I did want it fixed I had to pay more money. When I asked to talk to someone else he said he was the owner, then he asked if I spoke English and swore at me. Not impressed, horrible customer service. He was still hollaring at me from across the store as I was leaving.

WARNING!!! DO NOT TAKE JEWELLERY to KARAT JEWELLERS inside fairview mall, st. Catharines for repair. They will break your jewellery, charge you for it, THEN try and charge you more for repairing what they broke. Owner is rude too and will call you names! Save your time and money!! I wish someone had forewarned me before I brought my jewellery here for repair.
