Unbelievable!!!! I went into A1 clothing in Kingston wanting to support local. I bought two pair of budstone boots for my 3 year olds daughter after having a detailed conversation with the sales lady that I did not know if they would fit. Never not even once did she tell me that they did not provide returns that instead they only provide instire credits. At the cash the gentalmen that rang through my purchase never said anything. When I sent my older daughter to return the items that do not fit they refuse to return my money! They refer to a supposed sign somewhere in the overfilled store that supposedly states this policy. Even the manage refuses to make the return knowing no one disclosed the policy. So much for supporting small business. This is why people go to the Carter’s and Walmart’s of the world. If anyone likes the store I’d love to make an exchange for the In store credit as I will never support them again

Was last in this store in 1965, my memories of that time were positive. A well stocked store and the friendly owner was willing to bargain on the prices.

This has all changed with my recent visit in 2017. I felt like a criminal as soon as I walked into the store as the staff scrutinized every move I made. The prices are outrageously high, it would appear that they are targeting tourists, I can't imagine locals buying here.

I was shopping here with my partner one afternoon, just browsing to see what they had. Every time I touched a piece of clothing to look at it, the older man that works there (owner?) yelled at me and pointed me in a different direction. Needless to say it didn't take long for us to get out of there.

Really disappointed with our most recent visit (among many other disappointing visits). The most recent visit was by far our worst experience. We went in to purchase some shoes because we had received a gift certificate for Christmas. We picked out our shoes and headed to the cash. We wanted to use our gift certificate as a payment method for our purchase. The staff were extremely rude (informing me that I should have told him that I had a gift certificate before he rang the transaction through). They also tried to charge me for taxes based on the amount of my gift certificate as opposed to the amount of my order. Finally, they refused to offer us a receipt, claiming that we had already received a receipt when we purchased our gift certificate. Eventually after 20 minutes of trying to explain that we are entitled to a receipt for our purchase and being yelled at repeatedly by the store owner and his staff, we were given an inaccurate receipt (wrong prices on the receipt). They also admitted to illegally charging taxes on gift certificates. Gift certificates are a method of payment (the same as cash, debit, or credit). You do not charge taxes on payment methods. A $100 gift card is a $100 gift card. The taxes are charged on the product that is eventually purchased with the gift card.
The customer service is not great at this location. If we didn't have a gift card we would not have shopped in that store. The older gentleman is always rude. The staff follow you around as though you are going to steal from them. They have a children's section in the basement in which you must be accompanied by a staff member and they seem annoyed when you want to shop downstairs. Frankly I am surprised they are still in business.

I went to this store with my spouse to browse clothing and shoes. I was rudely scolded by an older man for touching the items and he stared at me and pointed to a different display for about a whole minute (giving me a dirty look). I moved to the shoe section to get away from him and he just rudely (and loudly) said "Can I help you." and grabbed a shoe box lid from me and put it back. My partner and I promptly left, angry and disappointed. I will NEVER set foot in this store again. (Also very overpriced)

The younger staff are all friendly and helpful but the older man is rude. I was in this store more than once due to their no money back rule, I would have never returned after my first encounter if it weren't for the $100 handwritten store credit I had.
A-one will no longer be getting my business or the business of those that I talk to.

I was most disappointed in my shopping experience on Sat. the 12 Dec. We had a very helpful young man, and was reprimanded by his superior for going out of his way to find something for us. We looked at hats, which we had planned on buying, but this pushy ignorant superior, started straightening the counter we were looking at. We were treated like filth, and left the store disappointed. We will not be returning, and will by the way, advise others not to go this establishment!!!!!!!
I fail to see they deserve any star at all!!!! Maybe one for cleanliness and tidy

I went here on a sunny afternoon looking for a pair of size 11 Blundstones in the chisel toe. What should have been a quick in and out interaction resulted in me being toured around the store four times by three different employees, all trying to sell the most pointless, overpriced shirts, socks, jackets, and onesies. I didn't want a shirt or a jacket, and expressed this multiple times, but the managers kept getting the employees to push something else on me. Eventually I went to the checkout for my Blundstones, and was harrassed by the owner to get "a pair of thick wool socks" because "I absolutely needed them for Blundstones" and waterproof wax (I found out later all Blundstones come with this in the box, this store just removed them) about ten times. Their pushiness led me to leave the purchase completely, walk around the block to Becker Shoes where I had a respectful, professional interaction where nothing was pushed on me. Got an equally great pair of Blundstones and now am wearing them without wool socks, comfortably. One and a half stars, because I love Blundstones, Becker gets a 5/5 though.

The store does have quite a selection of high quality goods, but as other have mentioned the service can be a tad hot and cold. When dealing with one rep, he was great at helping me find a size when trying on a set of blundstone shoes. Although they did not have my shoe size in stock for any of the common blundstone designs (too common of a shoe size, damn!) I was told that they have orders arriving each week by the one salesman that was helping me, and that they can easily add the shoe in my size to the order if it isn't already on it. However, the story changed when I was directed a second gentleman that was involved with ordering the shoe for me. After spending all the time to transcribe all my contact information, the gentleman started ringing my order through as if I was buying the pair of shoes then and there...in full. Although I can expect to put down 1/3 or 1/2 of the value as a deposit (for a unique purchase...which this wasn't), there was no way I was going to outright buy the pair of shoes without ever even trying it on I'm my proper size...especially considering that they were sold out of all the blundstones in my size (so I couldn't even try any on in another design in my size for fit an feel), and they would clearly be getting more in stock in the near future if this was apparently such a common size. After cancelling my order, the second gentleman completely changed his demeanour towards me when I was making further inquiries as to if he was aware if subsequent shipments will have ANY shoes in my size (just so I would be able to use as a reference, and then make the special request after). The shipment information should not be hard to acquire especially since I assume he was the store manager, yet I was simply told to keep calling back in the weeks to come as though he could not be bothered with further investigating upcoming shipments. The feeling of simply being brushed off is something I will remember when looking back at the customer service at this store. What a shame, because had the service been better, I wouldn't have walked 2 blocks and spent a couple hundred at another Blundstone dealer. Their loss.

I hate pushy sales people, and whenever I go into this store I find the sales people jump all over you. They start talking about products you're not interested in and direct you towards things you don't want. It's annoying if you just want to quietly look around. They do have some very nice products, and the store is clean and organized. They have good footwear and good outerwear from some very fine manufacturers. But the pushiness kind of ruins the shopping experience and that's why I have stopped going there.
