Costco Optical

I came with a prescription from my optometrist and was recently fitted for two pair of prescription glasses at Costco Abbotsford. The first person I dealt with (Melanie?) was very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. My wife was an optometry assistant for years and she said Melanie was the most thorough she had ever seen. When I picked up my glasses a week later, Rachelle was equally helpful and took the time to make sure they fit right and that my vision correction was what I expected.

When you add in the significant cost savings vs. getting glasses from a traditional optometry office (close to 40% less than I paid for the same things two years ago), I will happily come back to Costco Optical for my next glasses.

As usual Costco does it again. Rachelle from the Optical Centre helped me pick out the perfect frames and explained (which nobody ever does) how progressive lenses work. I had another lady deliver the glasses to me and she was great too but I can't remember her name? (shorter Indian lady)

These are the best glasses I have ever had and much cheaper than most other places for the same quality. I did try to order some from an online company but had to return them twice since I could not see out of them properly and the frames didn't fit me either. The price worked out to be a bit more at Costco but I am happy to be able to go back whenever I need and get service. Can't go wrong with Costco.

Avoid the optical department, they are incompetent!!!! I have progressive glasses and after having them remade they are still useless. There is only one tiny spot in focus when looking at things, that means I have to point my face straight at what I'm looking at. My prescription is in the average range and there is no excuse for this incompetence. To make things worse the guy who runs the optical counter is beyond useless, he has no idea what glasses are for! I explained the focus problem a few times on different visits and he is incapable of understanding optical terms like "in focus". He also has no idea hot to fit the frames, he thinks the only way to fit frames to you is force the legs in tighter and tighter to squish into your head. This is uncomfortable and after wearing glasses for 40 years I know this is very wrong!!! this place may be a bit cheaper but glasses that don't work and give you headaches are not worth anything!

My mom bought glasses here with doctor's prescription. Well mom started having problems seeing and bad headaches. Took her to doctor to get eyes checked and dr said her lens power was in incorrect and not what he had prescribed. Went back to costco and staff refused to admit anything was wrong even with dr's note. Eventualy the employee got upset and rude (pretty standard behaviour for their employees) and slammed the glasses on the table and popped a lens out. When she tried to put back in, she bent the frames and still tried to give them back to me. Well the dr is a prince and is trying to sort out the matter but even he so frusterated that he will never shop there again.

Decent size selection, better than say, Wal-Mart. Best part was the prices. Great prices on good brands that are more elsewhere. Lenses could be cheaper. Worst part was the wait time..almost 10 days before they were ready. Other specialists take maybe a day.
