Mauches never smelt bad people are lying those type of animal cages are all enclosed and do not smell from the outside at all . The staff always greeted you and asked what you want. I doubt a dog had a tatoo. And they had adult employees at diffrent times. Mauches used to be at the end of my street. I know what the store was like especially in the time before they closed and it was a good pet store its was not like simply reptiles selling banned and endangered animals

I bought my dog from mauchs over a year ago. I was told he was a bulldog pug mix and that he would only be 30lbs MAX. He is now 21 months old and weighs 62lbs and looks nothing like a pug. Also, after I got the paperwork the words bulldog X was written in black pen and pug was written in blue pen which also tells me he is not pug just a guess. I love my dog either way I just wished they had been honest with me about the breed.

I have called the store over 7 times. They don't return calls. My puppy is very cute but quite aggressive for a little guy. I asked who the breeder is and they say it's confidential! I just want to make sure he's not from a puppy mill. I have a huge suspetion that is where my dog came from because of his aggression.

DONT BUY ANY ANIMAL FROM THESE CRIMINALS. PUPPY MILLS SHOULD BE BANNED AND THEIR OWNERS SHOULD GO TO JAIL. CRUELTY TO ANIMALS SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED

Went into the store today for cat food and was apaulled by what I saw and smelled. 2 teens working in the store, filthy, stench, dirty tanks and kennels and animals with little or no water and what was in the dish was filthy. Over crowded with puppy mill dogs. Why is this place allowed to stay in business? There is a special place in hell for the owner who is more concerned with the exploitation of helpless animals for the almighty dollar than with any love of animals. PLEASE people, do not support this horrible human being in his endeavor to exploit.

This is the most discussing place i have ever gone into. It smells discussing! the tanks are GREEN! The puppies are dirty and I've seen a little dash hound in there shaking and skinny, it was clearly sick! There animals are all mixed together. When i was little my mom got me a ginny pig from there. Get it home and turns out it wasn't a boy like she asked but a girl. months past and find out she's pregnant as well! Two years latter she died of having her teeth grown in sideways and over her tongue and the vet told me that it was rare but is seen with inbreeding. Clearly they don't keep males and females apart! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I really wish they would be shut down and all the poor helpless animals taken out of their cruel hands. I would love to take them all but their prices for dogs are insanely too much!

Yes, pet stores smell. They smell like bedding, furr and other animal smells, even people's perfumes who are walking through.
THEY DO NOT SMELL LIKE DYING OR ROTTING ANIMALS.
I work in one of the largest pet products and small pet stores in North America. Our warehouse, full of every kind of animal you can imagine, does not smell bad in any way what so ever. I am aware of all the individual needs of each species and all procedures I am to follow if any of them display any signs of illness.
We have an abundance of customers, in any given day, which does not allow multiple hours for constant cleaning of tanks and maintenance - but it gets done and it does not smell like that.
On top of simply the smell Mauch's animals are in the poorest conditions, which does not support theories that they maintain and care for their store and pets. The animals contained in pet stores should not be missing limbs, lethargic, in their own feces, ill in any manor or dead. They should be kept at the absolute highest level possible for that store, and if their basic needs cannot be maintained within the capabilities of the store then the store needs to close. PERIOD.
Mauch's is not maintaining, or even barely keeping up. They have hurt and even killed many animals unintentionally or not and it needs to stop now. It's okay is not good enough. It is to be optimum or not at all.
SHUT MAUCH'S DOWN!!

This is the most homey and Small Town Friendly store out there. The Manager Wess and the staff are excellent and always say hello with a smile when you enter, I always go back when I need pet's or pet items.

Of course it has an odour...does your animals area smell like roses?? Take your animal area and multiply it by a whole store and see how you can keep up with it!

The friendly service and informed direction we get is never dollar based but always in the best interest of our purchase.

Shane,
Don't confuse 'homey' with filthy. This store is horribly filthy and the way they house the animals is criminal. The teens running the place are very friendly, but again, don't confuse friendly with experienced. Who else do you think this maniac could get to work for him in his blatant exploitation of these animals? Go find a reputable place to do business and don`t prolong the suffering of these poor animals any longer than it takes us to shut this man down.

What can I say about this store, I am not sure there is any good words I could write here... to be completely honest.

I have purchased a TON of things from this store, including many reptiles that are usually missing limbs, main eating claws, etc.
Not to mention they do not know what they are carrying, or what species the Reptile is.

I was buying cat nip, & was telling the cashier how my cats go nuts over this certain type of cat nip - he proceeded to tell me " ha ha must be marijuana" ..........

Nobody in the store knows the price of anything, They all give you different prices on items.

They do not have the proper things needed for their reptiles.

I've asked the manager to call me 3 times, not once has he returned the call.

The 2 boys working there, know absolutely nothing.
I sometimes wonder who hires these people...... do you even own any animals?

I saw broken Hermit Crab shells so I told the man working that they are garbage as HC's cannot use broken shells, it can potentially kill them. He put them back on the shelf for sale
.

I Could go ON & ON.

I've signed the petition for this store to be closed down, As I think everyone should sign it. This is not FAIR to the animals.

WE need to be their VOICE!!

I purchased my little Westie girl from Mauch's about 10 months ago, she is the most loving smart puppy I have ever had:) Yes the store smells bad and there are a lot of puppies in each glass cage! When I saw this puppy me and my son instantly fell in love with her!!!! The woman that helped me was very helpful and answered all the questions that we both had! I would definately get another pup from them!!!!!

Although Mauch's pet superstore smells a little funny, it doesn't smell that much worse than any other pet store. Every time I've been in there, the staff is always friendly and cleaning after the dogs. Someone said that there is not always food present in the cages, but that is because it's not supposed to be. Dogs do over eat. Furthermore, dogs are also tattooed by many breeders before given to the pet stores. Maybe before complaining you should all get your facts straight, because you all sound pretty stupid.

I've been dealing with groomer at Maulch's pet shop for about 4 years and normally I get good customer service; but, not this time around my poodle was in badly need a hair cut. I made appointment & on appointment day show up only to be told the groomer will not be in. I asked to reschedule the appointment and I was told "No. I don't know when the groomer will be in". It's bad enough I don't get phone call to cancel to appointment; but, then I'm told that they don't know when the groomer will be back. What kind of business is that? Oh well now I get my dog clip at Kit N Kat Poodle on Bloor St. where their customer service is awesome.

This is a little rude because I know this groomer and at the same time this review was posted, she was very ill in the hospital. The staff tried their best to explain to costumers about this traumatizing experience. Have a little sympathy here.

see not everyone is a mind reader that they is a illness in the family or staff...all they had to say was she was very sick and the person would have understood.. I have been there several times..and yes it does smell..I think because it is so small for what he has in there. I hope the person that is sick..but as i said we are not into knowing who and who isn't sick there..and who ever was on duty that morning should have called everyone unless you totally closed the store which is not so..

The conditions of this pet store are absolutely terrible. I don't care if you're an independent pet store, there is no excuse to be keeping your puppies laying in their own filth without water or food, not to mention selling extremely ill rodents and reptiles. I can't count how many horror stories I've heard about this place, and I hope something gets done about it soon.

I know the conditions of this store are horrible. They get investigated and clean up there act tong enough to stay in business and go back to their old ways. They get friends and family to give them good reviews but please as hard as it is do not buy anything from these people. The owners need to be put in jail for what they do to animals. Hopefully the city of Oshawa smartens up and gets rid of this place for good.

I bought my Yorkshire Terrier at Mauches Pet Store almost two years ago. I am very happy with him, he is healthy and I love him very much. However, I have to agree with the little glass cages. I would much rather see the puppies in the large area's on the ground. My Yorkie was in one of the top glass cages, which broke my heart when I saw him. I think that they are more for hamsters and rabbits perhaps and not puppies. Other than that, I believe the store is like most pet stores out there and I would shop there again.

Please get some education about puppy mills before you suggest that this is a good store. This man is a horrible exploiter of animals and you should be more careful about recommending his store.

my Fiance and I went into this pet store a couple days ago, first of all when u walk in the door the smell was unbearable not hygienic at all. i understand animals go to the washroom but this was intolerable i would not bring a child in their. my fiance and i noticed right away the cages were very small and had so many puppes in each one, they were made out of wood and was very worn down. they had real glass on each of the cages and the dogs were jumping up against them i could only imagine what would happen if they broke. I felt so bad for these poor animals their cages were so filthy inside. i managed to ask to a hold a tiny male boxer puppy and noticed right away this horrible looking tattoo on its stomache that said L 6 ALL scribbled it looked like someone tattood him with a home tattooing machine. right then and there i wanted to buy every single puppy in the place but of course i couldn't. my fiance and i left and i cried. i want to do something about this no animal should have to live in a state like that. we are going to the humaine society to file a complaint tomorrow and im going to do everything in my power to help those poor animals. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND EVERYONE WORKING THERE SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE IN A DIRTY 3X4 CAGE CROWDED WITH FECIES everywhere. please do not buy a dog there and if at all possible go in and see how bad it is and make a complaint for yourself we need to help these animals.
