Homestead Land Holdings Ltd, Toronto Reviews (4)
I agree with Sweeney who posted a review in June of 2014 that there are a lot of pluses about this building. But I can also not recommend it and want to warn anyone living or thinking of living there to watch your valuables. On the day that I moved out of my apartment, I was robbed of a valuable set of kitchen knives worth $200. I turned in my keys because I had to head out of town but I made it clear that my Grandson, a co-tenant, was coming the next day to pick up his microwave and a couple of other things that belonged to him that were left in the apartment. I had no way of getting him the keys so I trusted the manager. When my grandson arrived his microwave was there but the knives were gone. No one involved owns up to seeing or taking them. They were there; I have a photo of the apartment as I left it in which they clearly show. The property manager, Mark Brule, believes his staff. One of them is a liar and a thief. I was deeply hurt and felt very violated by this. I was offered no restitution even though I was a good tenant and left the place cleaner and in better shape than when I moved in. Homestead properties has stolen from me and I will never rent from them again or recommend their properties to anyone.
We lived at this apartment building for close to four years. There are lots of pluses – it’s close to a lot of things, the building is in decent shape, there is a gym and pool in the building, and most repair issues are resolved pretty quickly by the building maintenance staff. With that said, dealing with the management here is beyond horrible. Random letters and invoices are dropped through the mail slot without any explanation, the main point of contact for the building is completely unwilling to help or budge on any issue, and when we left the building after four years (and thousands and thousands of dollars of rent paid on-time, every month), we were treated with complete disrespect, and at times, what seemed like down right resentment and disdain. We wrote an email to the head office complaining about some of the treatment and misinformation we were receiving, and never received an answer. Based on the treatment by the management here alone, I could never recommend living in this building, or any building managed by Homestead. It’s too bad, because the building itself is fine, and the maintenance staff is competent and responds to issues on time. But I could never recommend dealing with the management here, or giving money to a company that cares so little about treating its tenants with any amount of respect.
balconies walls underground parking windows you name it from 745 til 6oo it never stops..like a war zone
right on it is brutal
If you are looking for a decent, well cared for place to live, give this place a WIDE PASS.
Homestead recently purchased this building and are in the process of expensive and somewhat questionable renovations.
Balconies: yes. Replace all the toilets? No. New windows? Ok. Remove all the screen doors? No. Plant trees to beautify the place then cover it all with construction? Why?
As for the managment: they hire from out of country, with no proper experiance or training to care for this building. Nice people, but way over their head.
The building isn't being taken care of. The building management is overwhelmed and the regional property manager could care less.

Urgh! Seems the more reviews on properties I read the less alone I feel with having had dealt with sneeking, lying, underhanded s.o.b. landlord's and property management co. as if evident on my review of Tamarack Woods in Barrie. Amen to you for posting this warning if everyone told about their experiences maybe rent would be dirt cheap because no one would ever apply.
