Rivoli

It was a warm and sunny weekday when a few n49ers were cut loose from our office and sent to the streets of Toronto to feel our darling city's pulse (and run into Beyonce's crew). Before we could get down with Toronto we needed some nosh and headed over to the Rivoli's streetside patio. Our waiter was exceedingly cute, our boss was paying, and we had the go-ahead on daytime drinks: we were pleased (and tipsy).

There were two chicken wrap type things for steph.n49.ca and jennyk.n49.ca. They both looked delightful (see photos) and judging from the fact that there were no leftovers, they were tasty. A very skeptical silver.n49.ca had his very first roti. After complaining about presentation, he took a bite and ate his words, the roti was delish (though really, really large).

I had the Queen Mother burger (the Riv and its neighbor, The Queeen Mother, are owned by the same people/person/chef/droid) which is a delicious and, according to the menu, fiber-ful veggie burger in a pita. The burger was delicious (and fiberlicious)but be warned, it is not like your standard pub burger. There was actually very little about it that was "burger-y".

The big debate of the meal was the sweet potato fries. I will no go into detail, but I, your faithful guide, thought they were delicious, perfectly cooked, and well paired with chipolte sauce, so you too will think that.

We were pleased, as always with our Rivoli experience. Its location has, in the last few years become a bit of a shame, unless you like looking at chain retail stores and their patrons, but it remains a great Toronto spot.
