I graduated from Westervelt a few months ago and the job assistance has been non-existence. Being a smaller college, I was promised there would be some support. Nope. Virtually none.

My instructors were under qualified and the staff was rude. The campus itself was also extremely dated. Aside from the smaller classes sizes and short program lengths, there is nothing I would recommend about this school. I regret not attending Fanshawe.

I gotta tell you all, I was a bit worried to spend $10,000 on my Business, Accounting and Payroll course at Westervelt, especially after I've read some of the reviews on this site (other websites speak very highly of this college). That being said - I had an exceptional experience. My teachers were excellent, the service was amazing, and now I'm working as a bookkeeper on $50k/yr. I've recommended the college to 3 friends already who have joined the college, and they love it too!

I requested some information on behalf of my spouse and they ended up attempting to contact me 15 times in a month! Are you kidding me?

We recently ended up stopping by for an open house and found that the staff was inattentive and not particularly helpful. I asked some pretty in depth questions, but did not receive any definitive answers. The cleanliness of the campus was rather appalling as well.

To make matters worse, they also continuously hounded us for information and to book an appointment.

I was forced to block their number and never want to hear from them again. I heard good things from friends in the past, but clearly they were either wrong or things have drastically changed.

DON'T GO!

This college is overpriced and flat out bush league. All staff members treated me like a second rate citizen and enrolling here was one of the worst decisions of my life. Dropped out after a month and they gave me a hard time for doing so. I'm back working full time and 10x happier.

AVOID!

I graduated from Westervelt back in May and was honestly glad to leave. This place felt more like a high school than an actual college. The programs and training is fine, but I mean this from a mentality stand point. Having come from a business background and hoping to pick up an additional diploma, I expected a more professional atmosphere. There's such a thing as too much fun. The majority of teachers who taught me were wonderful though.

During orientation, we were introduced to a group of individuals who we ultimately never saw again. They lacked any real professionalism and cared more about making jokes to gain a laugh or two. I believe they were admin staff and directors.

I enjoyed my program, but graduate employment services has been a let down and the 6 month duration seemed too good to be true.

I graduated from the Medical Admin program towards the end of August and mostly enjoyed my experience there. While I do feel it's a step down from Fanshawe, the program was short and I eventually found a job.

Pros: Easy going staff, free parking, short programs and a sizable placement.

Cons: It took me several months to find a job and I felt the career services department was a bit of a let down. I also did not enjoy the student lounge as it lacked food options and it was pretty cramped.

I took the PSW program at Westervelt in May and graduated a few months ago. It was quick and provided me with some good connections. Honestly, the main reason I took the program was for the placement as it was longer than at Fanshawe. I don't really enjoy sitting in class, so getting out was what I looked forward to.

I was hired in about 2 weeks of graduating so I definitely don't regret taking it. I'm making better money now than I was at Freshco, so I'm pretty satisfied with the experience. I can't speak on the other programs, but I would definitely recommend PSW at Westervelt. My cousin enrolled for January, so hopefully she finds a job quickly as well.

I have heard a lot of negative feedback on private career colleges and while Westervelt College is not perfect, I did find employment in my particular field.

I graduated from the Medical Admin program in Feb of this year and was hired within two weeks. For that reason alone, I must give them a 4 out of 5.

In terms of improvements, I wish they had a better student lounge as its pretty dull and basic. There should also be more student parking, but it's free so I can live with it.

I agree, I felt that they were only in for the money, they never assisted in helping with a job, all they did is help make my resume. Then called about 6 months later and when I said I haven't found a job in my field, they said "ok", never heard from them again. they never cared they only cared about stats. I will admit that I did learn some things, but nothing to carry through to be confident in what I was doing. I will never recommend this school, and I laugh when people talk about it, my kids will go to a proper school, even if it sends me to the poor house.

Westervelt is an excellent school for students who are serious about learning, instead of professors we are taught by retirees which have stories to relate & better explain lessons. Smaller classes make it more personal & you are cared for better than other schools.

I was laid off from my job and took the accounting program at Westervelt. I am now working for my brother in law and doing pretty well. My son just recently enrolled in Sept and he seems to be enjoying it so far.

I'm soon to be finishing my program as a Medical Administrator. This program costed $12,000. The school not only doesn't have internet for student laptops/computers unless it's an authorized room, but they don't even have a microwave! In my first semester in my business related classes, I didn't learn one single thing I didn't already know or could easily have known just by common sense. I'm extremely dissapointed that I chose to invest this money in my future. I hope to get a job but if I don't, it'll prove just how much of a waste this school was...

When I was a student there, I did ask about the lack of wifi or the fact that we weren't allowed to have our lappies in the classroom, only to be told "students would just abuse the privlege". Right, so students pay $12,000 to go online and play video games during class time.

As for the lack of a microwave, they told my group in orientation that it's a supposed 'health regulation' that they have someone there to clean it after every use. Right, so I guess every place I've ever worked at in the past was violating that so-called law. Yet another group was told it was because people didn't clean up their messes.

I'm convinced on both matters that they're just too cheap to spring for microwaves and installing wifi for the students.

The school has teachers who don't care to teach and the worst average for passing the massage therapy program. Check out the cmto stats before you choose this school. Our class had a 20% pass rate of the board exams. Go to fanshawe get a real education.

Worst experience of my life. Teachers just don't care if you have a problem understanding something, or ask for help. If you try going to the administration staff, such as the so-called 'Dean of Students', she'll side with the teacher and probably cut you down as well. BTW, she's nothing but a glorified principal and an absolutely horrible person as well.

Westervelt is a business, nothing else. Take the money you'd spend here on an 'education' and use it to go to a real school. Nobody in whatever field of work you are going for takes this school seriously. The only reason anyone in the health care programs get jobs is because of a huge shortage in people coming from a public college like Fanshawe or Cambrian. If it comes down to a Westervelt (or any private school grad) or a student that attended Fanshawe, the latter will ALWAYS be top choice.

This school also silences (or tries to) any of it's critics. That's why it's so hard to find anything negative about them online. Instead of trying to fix the problems and listen to angry customers, they just send them cease & desist orders. This also happens to anyone that even dares agree with those critics.

To any prospective student of Westervelt that reads this, please don't make the mistake I and many others have made. Take the time to enroll in a normal college. It may end up taking you twice as long, but in the end, you will be glad you did it.

I was a student there in 1997. Looks like nothing has changed. I graduated with honours from an IT course and had such a bad taste in my mouth I didn't even go to the graduation dinner. I found a job in my field 2 years later, but no thanks to westervelt......the only positive thing was our teacher, even if he was not qualified to teach the course.

I WAS in the Massage Therapy course, and all that this school is... is a business... The Female massage teachers (2 specific ones in particular) are absolute power trippers if you miss a class they will not let you have a copy of any handouts.. you have to pretty much beg for it...Adults are treated like children... They are on Facebook and texting on their blackberry's constantly...then turning around to the students and telling them to put their phones away and how they are not allowed in class...
Class room productivity by the teachers SUCKS!!!
If you have any complaints about teachers your voice doesn't matter, because NO MATTER WHAT they (the school) are ALWAYS on the teachers side.
You get locked out of the class room if your foot is not in the door right at 9am or 1230/1pm (after lunch)- depending on the teachers mood- and this is what we pay $23,000.. for? Huh?! Really?
These teachers are not even teachers they are just RMT's that landed a super easy side job. This school is a waste of money and I would recommend anyone who decides to go, to go and check out other options FIRST

Hey, I remember you posted this on Complaints Board but removed it shortly after. Did they send you a threat? That's typical of this so-called school. Instead of trying to right the wrongs, they just keep up with the same BS that's been going on for who knows how long, probably as long as the current owners have been running things.

Westervelt College London Ontario Canada.
1st you do not need to attend Police Foundations to be a Police Officer.
2nd Before you decided being a Police Officer research everything there is to know about it.
3rd If your a visible minority you have a better chance of getting a job as a Police officer.
4th ATS Testing is required and costs money, it's not cheap.
5th Westervelt College will give you an entrance test, but no one fails, you will be accepted to your program of choice.
6th Westervelt College is a for profit business, they are registered with the better business bureau.
7th Go to a Gov't College or University, in my opinion it is the better educational choice.

I have to disagree with FERTHEA, Westervelt College is likely one of the best post-secondary institutions on Wellington Road!

I loved how the paramedic, medical, and police foundation programs all get full uniforms for class, tricking them into thinking they have suceeded in getting a job.

Westervelt also has the world's greatest radio jingle! [You just sang it in your head... I know you did!]

I was laughed at during my interview, but it turned out to be a great Ice-Breaker, and helped me feel more at ease. We joked about this one girl from the Accounting program... it was a blast.

I took off 1/2 a star because I never got the job.
