If I could I would give only a half star as they are not as professional as I had hoped when I was looking for some assistance with my mother. They also have extremely poor followup and administration sending us an invoice about 3 months after the fact and trying to charge for items we had not knowledge of and had not requested. I would not go to them again and in fact have found a much better alternative elsewhere for about the same money.

In my unbiased opinion and in an honest public review of my experience:
Written without prejudice:
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Nurse Next Door are VERY accommodating until something goes wrong then you will see the rancorous, unreasonable and heartless side of them come out. They do not respect YOUR requests for a specific type of "nurse" and just send whoever they find available, despite your clear and specific requests. If you complain, you are made to feel like there is something wrong with YOU and you gave them too short of notice for them to provide the correct type of “nurse” (they are NOT nurses by the way) you requested.
Of course, they do not tell you this until after the fact and things have gone pear shaped! If you speak with their "nursing" staff, some are unhappy enough to want to work for you, OUTSIDE Nurse Next Door and want to leave their name and phone number for you to call them privately which BOTH of us have signed a contract, saying we will NOT do this but I do have the name and phone number in the "nurses" own handwriting. So it was NOT me who was the problem, since the girl still wanted to work for me but she wished to bypass Nurse Next Door due to the way they treated her and how little she was paid compared to what they charged clients for HER services. I did not do this as she was not the type of “nurse” I required and I had signed a waiver saying I would not do such a thing and I keep my word. I simply needed a “caregiver” who could speak, read and follow basic English instruction, yet I did not get this. I ended up complaining several times with them replacing the staff person after I kept reiterating that I needed "nurses" who could speak, read and understand clear English and that could work unsupervised as I was so sick. This did not happen so I was constantly being bothered while VERY ill, with their questions because they could not follow the list of duties I had created.
When I pointed this out to Nurse Next Door, 2 different Head Office staff, Ruth and Wendy, each demanded to know which of their staff provided her name and cell phone number to me but I protected the girl, as these poor immigrant girls obviously NEED their jobs and one could tell, she would be fired.
Nurse Next Door management has been unreasonable and ill-mannered, calling me just 1 day after I was released from hospital, after a major surgery, and are now threatening to send my account to a collection agency. I tried to postulate a reasonable settlement with them but the most they were willing to do was take a few dollars off the bill which was simply adding insult to injury. They seem to care NOTHING, in my opinion, for customer satisfaction, only that they get their money and that they keep a clear hold on their staff. I had clearly voiced my discontentment with the “nurses”, going to the point of calling their office, several times and finally telling them I was sending their worker home so I could have some peace. She kept knocking on my door because she did not understand what to do next and could not follow the list. It was a simple list and written in very plain, basic English. I felt sorry for her but I needed to rest.
Nurse Next Door are now threatening to send my bill to a collection agency but I am prepared to fight them all the way. They do not deliver what they promise! They do not listen to client requirements.
Use any other service but Nurse Next Door. I have used other services, paid them at once and had no issues in any way! I have my regular caregiver back now, who writes her OWN cheques each week now and only used Nurse Next Door because my regular caregiver was away. I used We Care, in the past without any issue.
Imagine, bothering someone the day AFTER major surgery to the point they caused me to become sick to my stomach, as I was so upset with them and their threats of a collection agency. We have a perfect credit rating and will not be bullied, esp. having this paper showing that their own staff are willing to work OUTSIDE Nurse Next Door! That tells the story of what "honesty" and "care" are important and the respect their own staff have for them.

Thank you for reading my case with Nurse Next Door. Sick as I am, I am not going to be bullied and threatened and I feel for the folk who cannot advocate for themselves.

Please do NOT use Nurse Next Door, if you want any form of respect should anything go awry.

Sincerely,
Mrs. S. Darlow
