They have been across the street from my office for over a year I and I admit I have never went in for lunch until today.

I'm not really into gelato, or pastries. I simply don't enjoy sweets.

Today I was in the mood for something different.. I've eaten at every restaurant in the area and thought ok, well, I've been told that it's a bit pricey but I have a copy of their menu at the office and the Prosciutto and Brie with sliced pear sounds just lovely.

I walked in and was so surprised! it was not what I expected at all! They have lovely hardwood floors, plush leather seating to the right with clear elegant chairs... chandeliers, cute little succulents potted in teacups as centerpieces!

I was greeted by a very nice gentleman who gave me a menu to order my lunch. I of course ordered the Prosciutto and Brie. Then I was asked what kind of panini bread would I like.. when she said olive.... oh my goodness... they have olive bread? oh nice!

While I was waiting, I decided to check out the gelato display. I was thinking to myself.. sweet, sweet, too sweet, then I saw a flavor called Mojito.. mmm sour lime.. That might be ok. I've not had ice cream or gelato in about 10 years but being in a place called Hotel Gelato, I knew I had to.

I ordered the smallest size.. 3oz for $3.75. It was super sweet but it was also sour enough that I could eat it. Then the lady behind the counter suggested that I add a scoop of mango together with the mojito..oh my goodness, she was right! It was just delish! For those who like sweets.. you will love their gelato.

So as I'm wondering around, eating my sweet/sour gelato and waiting for my panini, when I see a bottle of Bordeaux! Oh my goodness they have wine! I LOVE wine.. They also have a fantastic coffee bar and I was very impressed with their water cooler. It's was filled with ice and some slices of orange. I always have lemon or lime in my water, I never drink it without..I think orange might me great too.

They also have lots of little pastries and sweets that look very lovely but I will come back to try their hint of orange water, definitely a glass of wine and I can guarantee that I will order the prosciutto and Brie.

We all had gelato here today. HG has the best gelato in town. @deanna had the chicken sandwich. Also great.

My friend and I just went for lunch and decided that wasn't enough, and wanted ice-cream.
Strolling along Eglinton Ave., we came across the adorable Hotel Gelato.
The place is real nice and everyone is super friendly.
As we bolted to the back of the restaurant to the colourful spread of gelato options, the young man serving us was real knowledgeable about everything and patient with us .. considering how many flavours we tested out. They were all so delicious, especially in mixing them.
I've also been there for grilled panini sandwiches, too - just a little bit pricey.
All in all, great place and I look forward to more ice-cream trips in the future!
