This is the best store. I have been shopping there for years and am so grateful to Natalie, (the owner) for all her help for my 4 animals. She is a wealth of resources and will navigate me to a product that she doesn't sell if she thinks it is the best choice for my animals. I can call her or stop by to get her educated opinion on health decisions, and she is always ready to help. Everyone there, especially Vickie will go above and beyond what another retail store will do. As far as the cost of the food, like our food there are different qualities. If you want the best, you have to be prepared to pay for it. I look at it this way, I am saving a ton on Vet bills as all of my 4 old animals are thriving and full of energy, as a result of the food I buy them at Bailey Blu. Thank you Natalie for all that you do. You are the best.

I have been shopping at Bailey Blu now for 9 months and I honestly could not be happier with the quality of the products, with the informative staff, and with the results I have seen in both my dog and cat. Their raw is the freshest raw in all of Montreal, and comes in convenient deli containers - already all blended and balanced and ready to eat! Their store is also entirely grain-free, which is definitely what drew me to the store in the first place. Even if you're not willing to feed raw, the staff is extremely understanding and are always ready and willing to give you advice on other food or products that they sell! Just love it at Bailey Blu!

It's great to see such a small business take flight in the past few years. Not only are the staff incredibly knowledgeable on subjects of raw but they're helpful at recommending alternatives when you're not ready to take that step.
Bailey Blu does some great community work and hosts Moustache Cat Adoption days regularly. My two foster cat have received many donations from them and we can't thank them enough. My kitties have been well fed for over a year now!
We're lucky to have such a lovely, locally owned and operated store in the area!

Bailey Blu is a great store with staff who always know the answer to my dog related questions. They have taught me holistic ways to care for my dogs. As a result my dogs are happier and healthier and I feel proud and confident of how I care for my dogs.

I have been in Bailey Blu every week for the past year and a half and I can say that this is the most educated and helpful pet accessories & food/health store I have ever shopped at.

I went into Bailey Blu for feeding information prior to adopting my dog (knowing they had a raw food line), and I was extremely impressed with their professionalism and respect in our discussion of raw versus dehydrated versus premium kibbles versus national brand kibbles. They never pushed anything, just explained the facts and encouraged me to do more research. In fact, we have had several discussions over the past year and a half on what is best for my dog and we have tried different foods, ending up with a premium grain-free 100% Canadian sourced and manufactured kibble.

I have recommended the store to several people all of whom have had a great experience in the store and all their questions were answered (some went for food advice, others for teeth cleaning advice, others for alternatives to pest control treatments).

In addition to all this, they provide above-and-beyond support to local rescues and animal welfare awareness and education which is important for me in looking for ethical, local companies who “give back”. . I could buy the food my dog is currently eating around the corner from my house, but I choose to go out of my way to Bailey Blu for all of the above reasons.

A couple of months ago, my vet gave me a diagnosis that a pet-owner does not ever want to hear. After examining my cat, he confirmed that Calvin has diabetes. Insulin injections can be very costly, extremely high-maintenance and even may not be successful. In most cases, you would be fortunate if your cat’s life would be extended for another year or two. Since this diagnosis was caught at a very early stage, my vet suggested putting my cat on a very high-protein diet before starting with an insulin program. As soon as I got home, I went online and spent hours researching the best diet suitable for Calvin. I found out that the diet had to consist of high-protein muscle meat (e.g. chicken and rabbit), no gluten, no grains, no vegetables, low or no carbohydrates, a balance of organ meat, combined with fresh ground bones. Cats are carnivores – they eat meat so why should we give them anything else? I was fortunate to have a friend, who highly recommended a store called “Bailey Blu” that produced the exact cat food that I was looking for. The next morning, I walked into the store and was greeted by the owner, Natalie and her friendly companion a dog named “Blu”). I am forever grateful to Natalie, who graciously consulted with me for an hour. She answered all my questions “spot-on” and their cat food met all my requirements. Ten days after feeding my cat this special diet, I brought Calvin back to the vet for another glucose test. You can’t imagine how relieved I was and so glad to hear that his sugar level dropped drastically. Honestly, I was quite surprised by such an immediate reaction. As a result, insulin injections were avoided and I will now keep Calvin on this diet. I will also have his glucose level tested on a regular basis to ensure that he is on the right track. It was the best decision I made by walking into this store. My cat is like my child – it saved his life. Hopefully, I will now enjoy him for many more happy years to come . . . and that is best gift ever! Update: Just to let you know, I took Calvin to the vet this morning to get another glucose reading on his sugar level and he is completely back to normal. It’s absolutely amazing what this special diet has done for him! On our first visit to the vet, his reading was extremely high at 25. After only ten days on this diet, it went down to 18 so I knew I was on the right track. This morning’s reading was 8.5 which is excellent for a normal cat. Thankfully, I caught this at an early stage so his pancreas wasn’t too far gone. This was a very pleasant surprise for my vet, who was extremely impressed with the results. He wishes that other vets would do more research on this type of food. Also, he gladly accepted your business card that I gave him and said that he would not hesitate to recommend your food to other clients. So in less than 2 months, Calvin is doing great! I am absolutely thrilled that this diet saved his life!

We are so lucky to have a local shop that not only provides fresh raw meat, fish and poultry,
but prepares it with organic options.

Some say it's expensive, and I had thought the same in the beginning, but when I did the math based on consumption it was less and not more than vet canned wet food for cats. TRUE! It's a false perception.

My animals have never been healthier, and the savings if this is an issue is also less without the hefty vet bills for treatments! My cat suffered from Interstitial Cystitis and has been clear since the change to raw and eliminating dry food in his diet. Their coats are shiny and they are full of happy energy.

Staff always friendly, informed and they actually care about your animals.
Highly recommend this little treasure!

I like to support small local businesses, and I really appreciate that Bailey Blue is willing to host cat adoption days.

But I don't appreciate being lectured about how I'm killing my cat because I'm not feeding him Raw food. "Kids'll eat McDonald's if that's all you give them." said with great disdain. Gosh - thanks, I *thought* what the vet gave me was fine. "Well, it's not. It's full of garbage." Here's an idea - *politely* invite me to educate myself by writing down some web sites to visit instead of sneering at my genuine ignorance.

The selection on cat toys is also frustrating in that I've mentioned on three visit over the past year, "Those wands with feathers are great. My cat goes nuts for it. The one without the string attached." And they still don't have it in stock. I'm sure they listen to their customers - their regular go-weekly-spend-as-much-on-their-pet-food-as-they-do-on-their-own-groceries customers, but they don't appear to listen to the more frugal regulars.

I just had to comment after reading your post. I hope to help!
I as well when I inquired, was given advice regarding dry food vs wet food for my cat, and this advice fell directly in line with my most excellent Veterinarian's suggestions, as it was he who recommended the raw diet for my cats.
We are very lucky to have this store that supplies their own blend without a pile of stuff mixed in it and the animals love it.

My cat's now eat raw beef organ, and beef heart, and dry is not part of the
meal. They took to it off the start and after suffering from chronic Interstitial Cystitis with not much hope, he hasn't had an infection, no blood in his urine
their coats are shiny, they are running like well oiled sports cars now! True!

Also the supplements can be pricey, but less than vet bills for treatments of a sick cat. I put slippery elm to assist other issues my cat has regarding lazy colon, the price of the regular raw is actually is less expensive than a case of Vet food going for some $55 a case. I know as I did the math.

The staff and atmosphere is friendly, welcoming, fun, and well informed, as well I love it that they have such wonderful success with record breaking cat adoptions. They actually care.

Kind regards, and good luck to all those out there with cats who suffer from
urinary Infections, there is a cure, and that is no dry food! I know and have the proof right here purring and happy and full of healthy energy!

It's a lovely looking shop, but I was turned off by both the owner and one of her workers. She was extremely preachy about food (which I've already done a significant amount of research on) and way too encouraging of ridiculously overpriced foods(no, I don't need to import raw food from new zealand).

I was also absolutely shocked by the bad behaviour of her dog in the shop. I'm all for having pets in a pet shop, but they need to be well-behaved. her dog was out of control. What if he knocked over a kid in their store? Not cool.

Overall, I found the whole shop and its atmosphere a bit pretentious, there are more welcoming stores in Montreal where I'd rather spend my money.
