Rented a great vehicle--3 Ton Internation Citystar--for a day; and was really impressed with it's handling, and how easy it was to drive in city traffic. I returned it within 10 hours, having rented for a day; and found the process of completing paperwork was extended, and seemed odd.
Later, checking my paperwork, I noticed that; from what I recall, 50km or so had been added and charged. I had swapped the vehicle in the morning, from a 5 ton; and she'd redone the damage check, and changed the basics. I remember looking at the pink sheets; and finding them to both appear very much the same. The one for the 3 ton; had only marked the first 4 digits of the Odometer; leaving the other 2 in question. Not a big charge; but, I was a little irritated.
More irritating, was how she handled the return process; mentioning a refund for swapping vehicles, and not the extra charge.
I found the lack of Pre-Authorization mention on my paperwork, somewhat disturbing; I was now left with 1 uninformative sheet, and no evidence of anything besides. I was wondering about it, after, and asked; she said, flatly "Sometimes it takes up to 3 banking days; for the money to be returned to your account; depending on the bank you have used." Thats a rough quote only; but I know it to be untrue. That simple statement, magnified the rest of the warning signs, I'd seen; and made me question, for the last 15 hours, whether my money would be returned. I don't like that.
If I'd thought of it; I would have taken pictures. I am sure, that the Pre-authorization is not yet returned; due to it not being processed, and the money is currently being held in account by Budget. Any reason, they have for doing this; is without question, unethical.
