AMAZING COLOURS January 8, 2013

I had an appointment for the Groupon package in September, and had the best colouring experience ever.

I have very stubborn Asian hair that's always taken multiple lifts and several hours to colour by myself and other salons. The colourist (whose name I unfortunately don't remember. Ethan?) did an absolutely amazing job and it was done within an hour! It was the first time that I got the exact colour I expected, AND it took about half to a third of the time as usual. What's more, it's January now and I haven't had time to get the new growth redone yet, but the dyed part is still very vibrant.

As per the package, my cut was done by Joseph, and he explained what he was doing the whole way, which I appreciated very much, and I felt like he did a wonderful job as expected with his experience as a stylist. I will definitely be returning when I can find the time!

I do not regularly post reviews but I feel like I need to share a good thing. I have been seeing Sofia for almost 5 years now. Absolutely love my hair, I have had very bad instances in the past, my hair has been over-processed from the use of bleach over the years and she has helped steer it back to good health (while still being blonde). I have long hair and I like to keep it that way, she is NOT scissor happy which many stylists are and she is willing to give me her honest opinion and show me how I can style my hair at home (what treatments to use, little hair tips & tricks etc). I highly recommend her :)

AMAZING SERVICE January 30, 2012

I love my hair and love my stylist, I had to get my hair repaired after I boxed it up myself, and after having a consult about how much and how long it would take $285 later supper happy.The biggest factor in my reasons why I highly recomned this salon is,they took the time to explain what my results would be and how many appointments it will take to reverse the unflattering color I had created upon myself, I found that the expalnations where truthful and honest, as much I did not want to hear it the fact was the labour involved was going to cost me.
p.s worth every penny my next visit is in 4 weeks to continue my journey to better hair color.

I wrote to the owner and manager and have not yet received a response. Below is the content of my email.

After purchasing your package deal with Groupon in April, I booked an appointment with a new generation stylist in September. I was greeted by Jackie immediately upon arrival and was guided to my chair by Carley shortly after that. Upon arriving to the colouring section, Carley’s greeting was less than satisfactory. The first thing she mentioned to me was that I had my gown on backwards and that I should probably put it on the correct side. That wasn’t a big deal but in retrospect, I would have appreciated a warmer welcome. After sitting down, it felt as though my consultation with her was rushed. I explained what I was looking for – something different – but she mentioned that there was not much we could do since I had obviously coloured my hair. At her request, I informed her that I had used “box dye”, and she made a facial expression that indicated that this was an issue. Although I understand that it can be difficult to colour over box dye, I immediately felt judged. Carley never asked when I had dyed it last, and as it was dating from March, I didn’t think this would have been an issue six months later. Finally, I gave in to her insisting that she could not do lowlights, or highlights, as my colour would affect it, and agreed to her insisting that the only thing she could do was one colour. Following that, she asked what I was looking for in terms of a cut. I showed her photos I brought along with me and she seemed ambivalent – not indicating whether she knew what I wanted or not. She mentioned that we would “figure it out” as we went along. I found this somewhat troubling for a consultation. Finally, she walked over to speak to the senior colourist, and they started laughing while staring my way. Of course I realize that it may not have been regarding my situation, but I think this was the moment I decided that it just wouldn’t work out. It was the last straw in a series of disappointments. I felt that Carley was generally not approachable and quite condescending. I am very displeased by the whole experience and with the way Carley reacted when I indicated that I was leaving. Again, she didn’t seem very genuinely concerned about the situation and did not take any steps to prevent me from leaving. The manager then offered to book me with another stylist but I regret to inform you that the experience I had left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I will not be returning to your salon. Having gone to many salons around town, I have never received this type of treatment, and I wanted you and the management/owners to know that Carley may not represent your business vision in the most adequate way. Being a professional myself, I realize the importance of reputation, and unfortunately, Carley has not done what she could to maintain this reputation.

    I unfortunately have to agree with this review. I found Carley very rude/unwelcoming and a little too judgmental. She completey turned me off ever returning to this salon.

I only bought retail, But I was impressed. If you ever meet the owner, he is a fun guy. I am thinking about booking an appointment.

This place is wonderful..friendly staff and my hairstylist Sofia was excellent. For once I've found a hairdresser that listens, I love her, I love this place and I am definitely going back!

My experience at Byblos was FANTASTIC!
I finaly found a salon that knows what they are doing!
The decor is magnificent and I felt so well taken care of!
I have found the best stylist in ottawa!! I suggest every one who wants their hair done right to see Kenneth! He is absolutely amazing at what he does and I will never let anybody else touch my hair!
