My wife and i purchased a washer and dryer from Caplan's in late January 2009. The salesperson (Tony) was quite good and we purchased the set we were looking at. At the time, we did not purchase the extended warranty and were told that we had two weeks to do so. In the second week, I called Tony (who was off that day) to indicate that we would be purchasing the extended warranty. He called and left a message indicating that he was away and would call me on the Friday. Of course, Friday came and went without a word from Tony. I went to Caplan's on the Saturday to purchase the extended warrant. While I was there I complained about the shaking caused by the high spin of the washer and was told to call customer service. My wife has also called to try to get a technician to our home to stabilize the washer and, to date, this has not been arranged. I have not had a very good experience with Capln's and will not purchase from there again...nor will I recommend this store to friends. Once you've purchased the item it seems you are on your own.

A GREAT EXPERIENCE February 11, 2009

First it was the dishwasher. Then the dryer. Now the stove down to just 2 elements. OMG we need all new appliances. Forget skiing, last Saturday was spent at Caplan's.

1. Greeted at the Door by someone who's name is actually Caplan.

2. Fresh coffee for me and cookies for the Kids.

3. Huge showroom with every imaginable make and model.

4. Many Designer Kitchens so you can see what the appliances actually look like in a real setting.

5. Extremely knowledgeable sales people who explained everything over and over and over. Must have asked 20 times about the capacity of this vs that Fridge.

6. Really tried to help us understand the different options and prices. Absolutely no pressure.

7. Washer and Dryer delivered withing 24 hours of ordering.

8. Friendly and skilled delivery and installation.

9. Great price.

Nice job Caplan's! 5 stars for sure!

HORRIBLE DELIVERY February 8, 2009

About a month ago I purchased a new washer and dryer. A couple of days prior to the delivery date I contacted the store to see if there was any chance of getting a morning delivery. She agreed, saying they would deliver it before noon and even called and confirmed the time the day before. The morning of the delivery day I called to double check the time and they said that the drivers were late picking up the truck and she would call me back. Around 11:00 she finally called back and they said it would be delivered between 12:30 and 3:00. When I questioned the pre-noon delivery, she checked and eventually called back again and said between 12:00 and 1:00. The drivers called about 12:45 and said they would be here in 25 minutes, eventually arriving an hour and 15 minutes later around 2:00. Two hours later they were leaving and when I tried the machine the next day it did not work. I called the store on Monday morning and they arranged to send someone the following Saturday. They came, made some adjustments and it still did not work. Customer service contacted me on Monday morning to see if everything was okay. I said NO and they said someone would contact me in the next 24 hours to make arrangements. After, 24 hours, no call so I called back, a message was left, and it was the next day before they called me back again. They said they could send someone more senior on the Friday. I agreed if it could be near the end of the day and they agreed. When I asked for an estimated time they said somewhere between 1:00 and 3:00. So we were back to Saturday for the third time as 1-3 certainly is not near the end of my day. On Saturday morning I called for a time and they had no record that someone was to come to my place. They said to leave it with them. Nearly an hour later I eventually called back and I was immediately passed back to my original salesperson to sort it out. Finally, someone who can accomplish something. Within 5 minutes, Paul had contacted the warehouse and got back to me with a time for a senior person to come out. This time they arrived on time and solved the problem by removing the shipping brackets. I would also like to note that of all five guys that came into my home, not a single one thought to remove their boots before walking across my carpet. And I almost forgot to mention the chunk of my wall that they took out in the original delivery. Overall, not a good experience and I doubt that I will make a return visit to Caplans.

My kitchen compactor stopped working. I searched for a replacement at a reasonable price on the internet, and Caplan's website came up. I had bought all of my appliances there when I bought my house. I called them in the morning. A salesperson answered, searched her inventory, and said they had the unit. She would put it on hold, no deposit required. She arranged for an evening salesperson to be informed. I went there that evening and the unit was waiting for me. The price was at least 25% less than what I would have had to pay on e-bay. Service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. I think these poeple even enjoy their jobs!!!

We purchased a Fridge at Caplan's last year, and were very pleased with the sales and service. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and the delivery was organized and on time. We went back for a dishwasher just last week, and were similarly pleased. Prices were also competitive with larger department stores (stores that have sales staff that don't know anything, and treat you like a piece of meat).
Caplan's rules - we won't go anywhere else again.

I purchased a stainless steel stove -kitchenaid and salesman was Frank Minnella. He was very knowledgeable about the appliances in your store and the service and delivery were excellent. I bought my washer and dryer from you as well. I wish I had bought my Fisher Paykel fridge from you as well. The one I have is white and would have preferred stainless steel, but the salesman at Loews said it would show finger marks, which I found out was not true. The magnet does not work to turn on the light and I have been waiting since October for the part. I don't think I would have had this trouble if I had bought it at Caplans. You specialize in appliances and that is better than going to a Dept. STore or big box store as they do not have the knowledge of each appliance and the manufacturer to help customers when purchasing appliances.

I would recommend you to my friends and will buy all future appliances from Caplans when the need arises.

We looked at most of the "big box" stores for a specific model of microwave/fan. We were disappointed with the salesperson's lack of knowledge, the inflexibility of terms, and sleezy way the salesperson tried to entice us to pay for extra warranty. Our kitchen designer suggested Caplans. The salesperson was knowledgeable, the terms flexible, and surprisingly, the price was the lowest.

Although our purchase experience was perfect in all aspects, we were disappointed the day of the delivery. The 2 delivery men, especially one of them, were clearly annoyed for some reason.... The slushy temperature, the fact that they could not go through our back door but had to go through the front, the fact that I had not covered my floors and carpets (I thought, just like movers, that they would have the appropriate protection)...But I gladly put a series of sheets. Then, I asked them to hook the washer and dryer on opposite sides compared to the old ones, having bought the extension hose as the salesperson suggested. It turned out that connections couldn't be done that way, which left me in an uncomfortable position because tha doors of the washer and dryer didn't open the right way. They delivery persons were annoyed at me because it was taking longer than they thought. I left a message to our salesperson... He never called back, not even as a courtesy call to see if things had benn solutioned after all !! That clearly leaves us with the feeling that all that was cared about is the sales transaction, not the client satisfaction !!

My husband & I recently purchased a Bosch washer & dryer set from Caplan's Appliances - during their Boxing Day sales period. When we arrived at the store on the first day of the sale, it was already quite crowded. However, I was impressed to see that a "sign-up sheet" had been organized, so that customers would be served in the order in which they had arrived at the store.

The salesperson we dealt with was very knowledgeable about the product he was selling. I have found that the "special features" that he mentioned in his "pitch" to us were accurate. We are very pleased with our purchase & the decision to go with the Bosch line of appliances.

On the day of delivery, the weather conditions created a lot of wetness on our floor & stairs going down to the basement where we keep our appliances. Unfortunately, the delivery people slipped on the steps & damaged the ceiling area above our basement steps. When I reported this concern to Customer Service at Caplan's, there were very attentive to my concerns & provided compensation, which I felt was fair, given the nature of the repairs that I will now need to have done.

We purchased all of our home appliances from Caplan's when we bought our home in 1990. The washer & dryer set was a replace-
ment for the original set. They served us extremely well. I would not hesitate to recommend Caplan's to any interested buyers. They carry a comprehensive range of appliances, at very competitive prices & "stand behind" the products that they sell. They also have a Customer Service staff who are at-
tentive & fair in their dealings with customers.

I purchased three large kitchen appliances from Caplans in late September 2008. Pierre Jamil was very helpful in listening to my needs, and was very knowledgeable about the products. The delivery date (Nov. 20) had to fit in with my contractor's schedule, and this was accommodated by Pierre. The customer service people were able to give us a window of time for the actual delivery.

Due to a snowfall (which had been cleared), and the steep driveway, it was rather difficult to bring the appliances to the kitchen door. The driver was not very happy about this and grumbled. However, his assistant was courteous and pleasant.

The follow-up service was excellent in making sure that the complementary coffee maker was delivered promptly.

We have bought from Caplans for the past 20 years because they are knowledgable, reliable and provide consistently great service. We don't even bother to shop around. We know that their prices are competative and fair - even if not THE lowest price in towm, we woild rather pay just a little bit more to have the piece of mind in knowing that any problem will be handled professionally, quickly and always with us, the customer, in mind. The shopping experience was straight forward and pleasant. The atmosphere in the store was positive-- everyone I interacted with, even if it wasn't "my" salesperson (Joseph) was friendly. The recommendation I got from my real estate lawyer was right on.

The only small change-- which may have more to do with my overwhelmed brain with moving, etc. is, how and where to send for the appliance rebates. I will go through the paperwork again... it may be an idea to have a handy enevelope or file for customers buying a lot of appliances like me to have it organized or with a e-z read step procedure.

Our visit to Caplans was intialy to just price check everyone else, it ended up being a purchase for our new home. The sales staff was very knowledgable and was not pushy at all. They provided many options and were very aware of "value for money" and were not focused the cheapest or most expensive products, but what was the best buy for our needs.
The after sale service was satisfactory but i must say we did expect a little more given our appliances purchase was over 10g, but maybe we are just being picky now....
The products are great, delivery guys were respectful and careful when installing them.
We would definetly purchase from Caplans again. Thanks Debbie!

    We wrote a review for Caplan's too soon! We purchased over $10K worth of products for our new home. We thought we were getting a fantastic deal (since we were buying the Jenn-air Pro-line fridge, dishwasher, hood and stove - DA gave us a deal on the stove!) The stove hasn't work properly from day-one - taking over 45 minutes to pre-heat to just 350. Caplans was not helpful at all with the repairs. 6 months later and the stove is now not useable - why? Because we were sold a DISCONTINUED unit with knowing and now there are no parts availble and no training for service companies. So the $6000 stove we got such a great deal on was no deal at all. We are being taking care of by Jenn-air but can only replace our stove with a Kitchen aid model so now my brand new kitchen is mis-matched. And to top it all of Caplans will not return our calls or emails. Committed to Excellent Customer Service for 60 years...ya right!

Our sales consultant, Debbie Allan, was very knowledgible about the appliance we were looking for and quickly zeroed in on the options available to us. She was very pleasant and courteous while at the same time was highly professional. The delivery team did a great job of installing our new fridge and removing the old one with no scratches on the fridge or the hardwood floor. A problem developed two days after we took possession of our new fridge and Debbie promptly arranged for service to fix the problem, which they did. All in all a pleasant shopping experience and we purchased the fridge we wanted at a very good price.

We purchased 4 appliances (fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher) from Caplans. The service was excellent- highly knowledgeable staff and prompt service. When our house was delayed- they even held our appliances for us with out any hassle.
Price-wise we still can't find lower (we bought well over a year ago)!
Delivery was seamless- they arrived on time and were very careful.
We tell everyone we know to check them out and we'll continue to buy from Paul at Caplans!
