I went to The Warehouse for a great event and Encore Food With Elegance was the caterer. They had a wonderful display of hors d'oeuvres and desserts. I cannot remember exactly what they all were, I do however remember that every bite was an explosion in my mouth. Great job to all the chefs and staff. I was definitely impressed.
I was NOT happy with the service of the Encore staff at my wedding reception. First of all, when my fiance, my parents and I went for the tasting, David told us that he would be there at the beginning of my event to oversee it and make sure everything ran smoothly. He was not, and the staff that he sent was not well informed of how and when I wanted all the food served. If I had known that David would not be coming, I would have arrived at the venue earlier so I could talk to the supervisors and ensure that they knew what needed to be done. When I arrived, I was being asked about what time the hors d'heurves should be served, when the stations should open, when the cake should be cut, when the coffee should be put out, etc. and I was just too busy to go over everything with them. These are things that we discussed at the tasting, and if David was not going to show up at the event himself he should have had the supervisors attend the tasting to make sure they knew how we wanted our event to be handled, or at the very least someone could have briefed the staff about these things. They obviously were not. Secondly and most infuriating, after the stations were opened at around 9pm, your staff closed the stations and started cleaning up around 10pm. I do not know why on earth they would start closing the stations after only one hour of being opened and with so much food left over. At first I was told that they decided to close the stations because none of the guests were getting food for the past 10-15 minutes, but the matron of honor, the best man and my parents were saying speeches at the time so of course no one would interrupt by getting up and getting more food. Then I was later told they started cleaning up because they were making room for the dessert station. But the dessert was set up at a different table, so they didn't even need to close down ANY of the stations to make more room. And I specifically told them that dessert was going to be served at 11pm. I don't know why they would think that it would be okay to close one hour early without first asking me. Not all of our guests even had a chance to eat at that point and if it wasn't for dessert, my guests would have gone home hungry. When I told them to bring the food back out, at first, they just piled everything back onto one condensed table, until my sister had to tell them to set everything back up as it was. They finally put the food back to their original stations, but they didn't send the chefs back out so the guests didn't even realize that the stations were opened again. Why would you put stations out with no one to man them? And why did I pay for 2 chefs for 6 hours if they only really worked for just one. Also, the poutine station ran out of gravy. If I didn't go to the station myself to try to get some poutine, I wouldn't have even realized that they ran out of gravy. Again, your staff did not communicate this with me so I don't even know how long they were serving wedges alone. I didn't pay for a wedges station, I paid for a poutine station and for them to just serve dry wedges was embarassing. I couldn't believe that they didn't even let me know, let alone not even try to remedy the situation. I had to ask them to make more gravy. And why would they not bring enough gravy to begin with? You would think that an established catering company would have figured out by now the wedges to gravy ratio for an event like this. In addition, the hors d'heurves were supposed to be passed around the entire event ALONG with the stations. The servers stopped bringing out hors d'heurves once the stations were opened and we had a lot of hors d'heurves left over. Again, why am I paying for 6 hours of labor for the servers when they stopped serving after one? I really do not know what your staff was doing when there were no chefs at the stations and no servers passing around hors d'heurves. And another thing, at the tasting, David said that the mac and cheese would be served in takeout containers like the poutine - they were not. They were served on plates. LASTLY, IF YOU DON'T HAVE MONEY, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS!!! I sent this whole review to Encore twice with no response. I don't expect any money back but you think they would at least give me an explanation or apology! NOPE! They take your money and run and to hell with whether or not you were happy with their services!!! Do NOT go with Encore.
