I am extremely surprised with the number of negative reviews at Ethos! I went into the store this past week and it was the most amazing service I have had at any bridal store I have went into- both in Sk and AB. The sales attendant was extremely patient, and suggested many dresses for me to try. The regular prices were the best I've seen and to make it even better, the majority of the store was on sale for half price as they are just beginning renovations. After two trips to the store in the same day, I finally decided on a dress that I'm extremely happy with! Through the many hours I spent sifting through dresses and trying them on, I never once felt pressured into purchasing one, and the sales attendant was so bubbly and upbeat it made an otherwise stressful experience most enjoyable! I will definitely recommend this store to my friends and family!

UPSET BRIDE. August 10, 2012

I am thoroughly disappointed in the service I have received here. I will NEVER recommend coming here for any type of dress. My bridesmaid dresses were ordered in APRIL! They came in June, but two of the dresses were suppose to arrive in LONG but they came in SHORT[THANK GOD my bridesmaid went to pick up her dress or we wouldn't have known until August when the seamstress said to do the fittings]. Off the dresses went... NO RUSH PUT ON THE RIGHT DRESSES. The dresses were suppose to come in end of July and FINALLY showed up yesterday (AUGUST 09). When the dresses were ordered they were ordered along with 1 meter of a different color fabric. This fabric was so I could add sashes to the dresses... this fabric still has not come in, and when called around it was never sent from New York. Then, we were told it won't be here til THURSDAY(or so we were told, sorry I don't believe a thing said here anymore, as my dresses were late)! My wedding is 3 weeks away... I needed all this stuff in, IN JULY! Now, I have to go to a different seamstress because we were told that it's highly recommended to do so(hmm I wonder why....). With this... our seamstress had to squeeze us in and take our appointment in her home to get the dresses done in time. I have to go to fabricland to find the fabric to add to the dresses because they can't get your shipments straight. AND no discounts or anything offered on my dresses, fabric, or even for headache of having to deal with this crappy service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I WOULD STAAAAAY AWAY!

I was looking for a dress for my daughter's wedding and Ethos was one of the places I wish I would not and have stopped at. I found that the salespeople are very aggressive and felt that I did not have a moment to think about the purchase. I should have taken a bit more time but alas did not. Needless to say, the dress was wrapped and rung in before I even came out of the dressing room. Once I got home (a 2 hour drive), I realized that some stitching was coming undone. I phoned in to the store and was not received very well. My husband returned the dress for me and was given "eye roll" attitude from the saleslady. Because I signed their receipt I was not allowed to return the gown, flaws or not. I went in on my own later and was pretty much given the same treatment. I asked why a refund was not allowed especially since the dress was not as good a quality as I expected for the price. (They had taken and wrapped up the dress so quickly on my first trip that I did not have time to even look it over). I was told that because it was an "event' dress, the minute you walked out the door they would not honor a refund. And while I was there with my predicament, another lady was in picking up her dress. She mentioned that she had previously been offered a discount but was very promptly told that there would be no discount. At that point I left the store... never ever to return again and I will tell everyone I know the same.

DON'T DO IT! July 6, 2011
By: JBRO

I brought my 5 bridemaids in durring February 2011 for my July 23rd, 2011 wedding. We ordered these very cute little dresses, and all my girls paid their deposits by the end of February so the dresses could arrive in May (like they told us they would), leaving ample time for alterations (with 1 pregnant bridesmaid, this is key).
May comes and goes, no dresses. June comes and goes, no dresses. I call to ask whats going on about halfway through June, they tell me they dont know and will call back that night. They don't. In fact, they don't call for a week, at which time they say my dresses MIGHT be in China, they aren't sure. They will call me back the following Monday to confirm the location of the dresses. No call.
Another week goes by, I call, they still don't know.
July comes along, and I am in that store asking where the heck these dresses are. The wedding was 3 weeks away, and my girls have nothing!
As Pauline is telling me that these dress orders can be fickle (aka VERY LATE), I start reading the notes they've jotted down on my order paper. I read "Now expected July 16th to 18th" and "One dress not ordered."
They can't recieve the dress order within the one month of the date the told me they would arrive, now they want me to trust they'll get them in 5 days before my wedding? My bridesmaids need alterations!!!
Oh yes, and they forgot to order a dress. Not to worry, they say, between the 16th and 18th fabric will arrive, and we will just make the dress for your forgotten bridesmaid here. No problem! God help me, it's irritating.
I shoke Pauline's hand, and she PROMISED to call me Monday before noon to confirm the delivery dates. She looked me in the eye, and promised me twice.
Monday comes, no call.
I call her the next day, and she tells me she clearly said "Monday or Tuesday." No, no she did not. These people cannot call on time. They cannot get dresses in ANYWHERE close to on time, and if they don't get these dresses in by the now very late due date (5 days before my wedding), I am totally screwed!!! They just don't care.
NEVER EVER AGAIN WOULD I SHOP HERE!!!! The purchasing was great, everything else was absolutely awful.

NOTE: My maid of honor is in a second wedding in August. The dresses for that wedding were also ordered from Ethos. They all arrived in completely the wrong color.

DONT BUY HERE! March 13, 2011

I went here today with my mother and sister, who were in town for the weekend to help plan my wedding. We were quickly asked 3 times by three different sales women (who do not speak english as a first language) if we were trying on dresses today, to which we responded we were just establishing an idea of styles I like. I pulled one dress out from the crammed racks to take a closer look at it when we were again approached by another woman who gave me a disgusted look and said "No. Your way too big for that". When I responded that I would like to know more information about this dress, designer, and style, she refused to give me the name of the designer. She then proceeded to state that they dont give that information out unless you commit to a fitting session. Be very careful with this store. They have removed the original size tags and offer horrendous customer service. I had previously purchased a dress here as a bridesmaid for my friend's wedding a few years ago and recall the service being equally as poor. Do not waste your time, energy & money in this store.

I had been planning my wedding for over a year, and my Mother and I decided to go to Edmonton to see what kind of selection they had for bridal stores. I am from a small city in Saskatchewan, and our bridal shops are lacking quality. So we made the long drive to Edmonton. While shopping for other things in the mall my sister suggested we check out the shops in the mall for a dress. We stopped at Ethos and tried on a few dresses. I found a dress I was in love with, but it didn't have a lace up back. The staff assured me that they could put in a lace up back no problem and would order fabric from the designer so it would be the same color and fabric as the dress. I was sold. So my Mother paid for the gown in full and we headed our merry way back to Saskatchewan. Well the dress came in early which was amazing, but we weren't expecting it for another month and we had made reservations at a hotel in the mall so we could pick it up the next month. So they told us they would hold it for us. I inquired about alterations, considering they had told us they would do it there and it would be no problem. And the lady snarkily replied "We don't do alterations here" I was in shock, they had told us they did. So we made arrangements for someone in our home city to do the alterations for us. Since we had given her no notice the latest she could squeeze me in was the end of march. So we made the long trip to edmonton to pick up the dress, and it was beautiful.. one small snag.. there was no fabric with the dress. We were told that it had to be somewhere in the store. So we waited for an hour for them to find it, no luck. Then we were told it had to be in the warehouse and that someone would call us after the holiday and let us know where it was.. and they would mail it to us. So we left the store. What I didn't get is how the dress could be received, have sat for over a month moved from the designer bag into the ethos bridal bag and no one noticed there was no fabric, when on our file and receipt it clearly had it listed. The dress is an off white, not ivory, not white, so the fabric is important. Tuesday came and went, no phone call.. the week flew by.. still no phone call. I called on friday and was made to feel like I was bothering them and that they are "looking for it" and would call me monday. So I wait.. Monday came and went.. no phone call.. tuesday..wednesday.. so finally on thursday I call them and again get the run around and she tells me that "We will call you when we have an answer" I asked when that would be, she said " I don't know" i again let her know I need it altered at the end of the month (2.5 weeks away) and she says "it might not be in". I recommend to everyone thinking about buying from this store TO NOT DO IT. IT's not worth your money to be treated like you don't matter. Its your wedding. We paid over $2000 for my dress. If I could do it over.. I would have went to the store next door with lipstick stains on the dresses over a store where they treat you like you really don't matter and that you are bothering them when you call.

It was my first day out wedding dress shopping and we went to West Edmonton Mall with no appointment. We were rushed out of a lot of stores for not having an appointment. (This was midweek and not a weekend). We went into Ethos expecting the same service and were blown away. With no appointment, and for how many other brides and women were in the store a sales consultant offered help right away picking and pulling dresses. I told her I was interested in a certain style and she advised that since it was my first time to try on every type of style. She was right! The first dress I tried on I loved and after 6 dresses and an 1 1/2 of her time I still love the dress. The dress was nothing like I expected but it "was me". She even suggested to take pictures and think about the dress before purchasing it today. There was never any pressure and I never felt rushed. Still after trying on dresses I love the first dress she put me in and I intend to go back and purchase it. Go see Mariana at Ethos she'll make your day.

I went dress shopping about a month into my engagement and the 3rd shop i went into was Ethos at west edmonton mall. The lady who helped me (Shaza) was great and really helpful. I was a little hestitant on purchasing the dress because i wanted a sweetheart neckline and the neckline on the dress i chose was straight across. Then their 'designer' - Pauline came up to me and mentioned that it would be a quick fix for about $250.00. I ordered the dress I wanted that day. Also when I ordered it they told me it would only take 3-4 months to come in. 3, 4, 5 and 6 months later had passed. No call yet as to when my dress would be in. I called the store in a panic and they told me dresses usually take 6 months to come in. I told them thats not what I was told. Their response was ' your wedding isn't until November'! I told them it doesn't matter when my wedding is the fact that i ordered the dress and you didn't deliver it when promised. I was so upset and told my fiance that he actually called the store and surprise surprise - the next day....my dress happened to appear. When i got my dress everything was fine but when i told them i wanted my neckline changed, they told me that they didnt have an inhouse alteration person and gave me business cards as to where to go get it done! Why did Pauline lie to me and tell me that they did do alterations and even give me a quote! She should be fired. p.s. they also had a promo where you buy a dress and get $70 off the purchase of the veil - well I also ordered a veil there for $120 so i got $70 off on it but then when i received my veil - they tried to pass off a cheap looking one as mine instead! I demanded a refund, took a while to get but eventually i got it. Please take my advice and shop at bridal debut. I purchased shoes there and almost purchased a second dress there - the ladies there are so helpful. What a nightmare Ethos was...

A few weeks ago myself and my Mom went wedding dress shopping in Edmonton, so of course one of the first places you go when your in Edmonton is the WEM. We were both so excited, and i was really hoping to find the dress of my dreams just like every other girl out there and then we walked into Ethos. I stopped to talk to the lady, to tell her that i was looking for a Mori Lee dress. She asked me if i have tried it on before i tell her no and she rolls her eyes, a few minutes later i'm told that they don't have the Mori Lee dress in the store. And then the lady looks at me and says well the bigger sizes are up in the back on the wall, i was shocked. And i guess she could tell by the look on face, this lady then trys to pass it off as a joke telling me 'i don't why i said that because i am big as well". Not funny, since this lady is not big at all, i just brush it off and decide that myself and my mom would look anyway. We looked at all the dresses on the back wall plus more and no one came to help after 20 minutes of looking and losing my Mom in all the dresses, i decide to leave. I know this is a very long review but i would not want some other bride to be to walk into this place and feel the way i did on that day. I did however get the dress of my dreams from Bridal & Tuxedo Junction on 10550-109 street, the owner is so sweet i just loved her. And the prices are the best, i got my dress for 900 and did not have to pay extra for rush order. Brides to be CHECK THIS SHOP OUT!! And i hope everyone finds the dress of their dreams!!

ETHOS June 26, 2009

Ethos Bridal had the absolute best service in Edmonton. I have to be the pickiest bride when it came to my dress as I wanted it to be perfect! I went to every store in Edmonton, Calgary, and even flew to Sandiego Cali. Ethos gave me the BEST service. I mist have tried on the same dress 12 different times in a matter of 4 days. Each time they were awesome-full service--so sweeet. When it came down to it I was stuck between a dress here and at Sposabella. Bcause of the terrible service there and the amazing staff at Ethos I chose the dress from Ethos. They gave me a free pair of amazing earings as I had decided the set of jewelery was out of my price range....so when I bought JUST the necklace they said they had to give me the matching earings for free because they looked so beautiful! They always give a free garder but they gave me a second for free as well because she said, "well lets face it you throw one away anyways at reception!"

I recomend Gorgina at Ethos or any of their staff to any bride!

Myself and my maid of honor went here to try and find bridesmaids dresses. We were never greeted, asked if they could help us, nothing. After she tried on a 8 or 10 dresses, I was obviously looking for some help, holding up two very small dresses and needed to inquire about perhaps a size that would fit on somebody slightly larger than a preadolescent child. When somebody FINALLY noticed that we might need some help (after all, all 3 'sales' associates were speaking to 1 customer and we were the only other people in the store), we were told that no - you find a dress you like and they order it in your size. Ya? No kidding? Does it help that you can't get it over your ankles? When posed with the question "how am I supposed to have any idea what it looks like if I can't get it on?" she flippantly looked at me and said 'you try it on'. Other than the fact that the two of us OBVIOUSLY have two completely different body types, it was rude and hurtful. I asked then about colour swatches and wasn't provided any until I went looking for another sales associate to help me. I must say that she was helpful, considering that she wouldn't have been receiving the commission! Needless to say, I am completely appalled at the service and hell would freeze over before I'd EVER consider buying a gown there.
