WHAT A SHAME!!2 October 22, 2007
By: LUTZ

Is the most beautiful sunday afternoon in late October, 24 degrees and sunny so I felt like treating myself to something bad. Like a huge crepe. I called up jennifer, to meet me on danforth .. to sit on a patio and have a nice afternoon staring at by-passing people sipping on a late.

I have been to Euro Crepe before and was quite impressed. We have been filming a segment for our online directories about the best crepe in the city and this was one of the stops. Having big camera with us we obviously got the super-duper treatment. Crepes done to perfection, mineral water served in champainge glasses with fresh cut fruit and top it all of delishious delishious latte in a glass cup with heavenly foam with cinamon sprinkled on top. We left with huge smiles on our face. Satisfied.

This sunday however, it wasn't like that. At all!! Patio didn't have the same charm without the umbrellas anymore but that's not their fault. Just season's trend. After I ordered my very much needed latte, and mineral water with fruit, and the crepe ... I am sitting and waiting and waiting and nothing happens. After 15-20 min I walk inside to ask for the water because i was dehydrated. The place had about 4 customers including me and 2 waiters so i wasn't sure where was the hold up.

Water came in clunky glass with no fruit .. "oh .. you wanted that fruit in there? oh ok then ... we can do it if you would like". Yes I would like, as I described when I was placing the order. Latte also didnt' look or taste the same, it was just ok and presentation in a regular porcelain bucket doesn't give the same feel to it.

Crepe was less than impressive as well, the "heatwave" that was so delishious last time was quite revolting this time. Loaded with mustard, onions not sauteed properly, asparagus overcooked to a point it was almost dissolving (my fault really cuz i added that item and i shouldn't have). I am very hungry so i am eating the salamis with mushrooms from inside and some parts of the dough, even though it was quite saugy and no crispness in it at all.

At this point i still don't have my sugar for the latte. I give up and go find it myself. Then Jenn arrives and orders a simple coffee. Another 20 min later, when coffe is nowhere to be found .. we ask for the bill and leave.

Thank god for the second cup, 2 orders to go and walking through the neighbourhood and sitting on a bench in a park we still manage to enjoy the last most beautiful day of the year - or what's left of it.

    what!

i loved this place when we went in search for the ultimate crepe in the city. if i do recall, didnt we choose it as number one??? how decieving. restaurants should put their best into their food at all times, not just when there's a camera around.

since i live close by, im gonna check it out for brunch one day to see if it really was just a fluke. how disappointing.

Soo bad! I sat there for at least 20 minutes before i was given a menu.. when he gave me the menu.. i told him "I would like a coffee please" and set the menu down. 20 minutes later, still no coffee. He came to the patio were we were sitting and I asked "is my coffee coming?" he said.. "oh I forgot" Can you believe it?

I was thinking u were going 2 describe these luscious crepes but sounds like things didn't go quite so well.
So sorry to hear that, altho I do have 2 say I was very envious 2 read that u had 24 degree weather in October in TO & could actually sit out on a patio to dine!
Very lucky cuz you'd never, ever see something like that here (@ least not until 'Global Warming' hits this neck of the woods & hopefully, it'll never come to that!)
