I went in to the Fairweather at St Laurent Shopping Center today (Jan 27, 2012) to get an exchange or store credit on an item that I had received as a gift. I had a gift receipt and the unworn merchandise with tags attached. The salesperson at the counter did not know what to do, and had to go to the backroom for help. She came out and said I couldn't get any credit as I had to do it before Jan 8. The manager then came out and I said to her that the Jan 8 deadline is not stated on the receipt, but she said that all Christmas exchanges had to be done by Jan 8. Again I repeated myself and said then it should be stated on the receipt. She said the cashier should have told you. I’m a little confused....how would I know, when I’m not the once purchasing the item?? There was no time deadline indicated on my receipt whatsoever. She then raised her voice, and said she would call security. This is quite a pathetic effort of management in my opinion. She threw the receipt back at me, and said to go to the store that it was purchased at, and walked away. Unbelievable....I was in shock. I left the store, and contacted head office, and I'm still waiting for the District Manager to call me back. I will never shop at another Fairweather location ever again. I didn't usually mind their lack of service or poor quality of clothing, but this was definitely the icing on the cake.
