My boyfriend's sister considers herself to be something of a Thai food connoisseur, so when she recommended we try Funky Thai, I didn't hesitate on going. However, I was a bit shocked when we pulled into the parking lot and discovered it was located in basically the middle of nowhere (the rural stretch of Dundas in Oakville) and was next to a gas station; not the most appetizing of atmospheres. But as soon as we walked inside, it was like we had entered an authentic restaurant in Thailand. It's a tiny place but the decor is awesome and the staff are super friendly.
We started out with the Taster Platter because we couldn't decide on which appetizers to try. This is a great choice if you want to try a bit of everything. It comes with golden spring rolls, thai cold rolls, mini shrimp rolls, chicken and beef satay skewers, fish cakes and mango salad, all for only $16.95. We then shared a chicken and shrimp pad thai, which wasn't as fantastic as the appetizers but good nonetheless.
If you're up for a drive, I definetly recommend Funky Thai.
PROS:
great food, great atmosphere, great prices
CONS:
kinda out of the way
funky thaaaaai ... lol (those born in the 80's may relate)
