SCAMMERS!!!! October 23, 2012

I had them in to check my furnace because it was not running properly. The technician told me that I had several problems: burned out blower motor, failing inducer motor, failed circuit board and a leak in one of the abs pipes. The tech suggested the only thing that made sense was to replace the entire furnace. Complete BS! Or pay their "straight forward pricing" to replace the parts which is a straight forward rip off. The cost to replace one abs fitting was quoted at $275. It took me 5 mins and $2.50 in parts to fix this. They also quoted an additional $2000 for the other repairs (686 for each fan and 686 for the circuit board). I told them to leave. I check around and came to my own conclusion on what the problem was - simply the control board was shot. OK he got one thing right. I replaced it myself - $175 in parts $0 labour, 45 minutes of my time installing. Compare that to the $2300 toal they quoted me or the cost of the new furnace they wanted me to install.

Complete ripoff artists - beware!

Sounds like you got it all figured out

If you knew what was wrong with your furnace and the cost of parts, then why did you call them if you could fix it yourself. Sounds to me the technician did the right thing by trying to sell you a furnace because it sounds like you haven't taken very good care of the one that quit on you.

We had Eric come out to do a engineering analysis for our new air conditioner. We were thoroughly impressed with his professionalism and his information that was provided to us.
We are excited to have our new AC and will be recommending!

We had Gregg's plumbing inspect our furnace in 2011. They red tagged our furnace which means it is unsafe. They would have been happy to replace the furnace for a few thousand dollars. After inspection by another company and by Saskpower the red tag was removed. Greggs did not suggest that we check our warranty. When we did we found that the flawed parts they saw could have been replaced for the cost of labour. Good service - you decide.

    Typical

I know a couple of people who bought a furnace and duct cleaning groupon from Gregg's and got the news that their furnaces needed to be replaced - they didn't need replacing. It was just Gregg's way trying to sell more furnaces.

Just wanted to say how impressed and pleased I was with the furnace service I received from the serviceman with Gregg's Plumbing & Heating. We had 2 furnaces to be serviced and the serviceman worked on our furnaces for approx. 3.5 hrs. which included replacing a damaged flame sensor (after he explained this problem to me, quoted me a price, and asked if I would like this done). I believe that this part needed replacing because our furnace had quit working last winter and we had another company come out and "clean it off" but stated it didn't really need replacing. Thanks again for the great service.

I think I can hear angels singing! Can it be true? Have I truly found a competent plumbing, heating & airconditioning company who was clean, professional, didn't charge me an arm and a leg, AND vacuumed the rug? After so many bad plumbing experiences, I can hardly believe it.
After a botched job by another company, Greggs sent out Dennis for an estimate. They did a great wonderful fantastic job just a few days later .
Seriously, I can't give these folks enough stars. After the litany of plumbing idiots that I've had to deal with, they are just an incredible breath of fresh air. GREAT JOB GUYS YOU REALLY DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND I DON'T MIND PAYING FOR GREAT SERVICE!!

GREAT SERVICE! February 12, 2012

I had Gregg's come and do a furnace check up through Groupon. Both guys were very friendly and professional. They were sure to help me understand what they were doing and why (which is important as a first time homeowner!). They noticed that the furnace hadn't been inspected since installation and let me know who to contact to arrange the inspection. They also made sure I knew what the potential issues were to bring up with the inspector. All this was enough, but they also checked my garage furnace to ensure it was running well too! I will definitely use Gregg's from here on out!

GREGG'S GOOD SERVICE November 20, 2011
By: FLAD

On Sunday morning we awoke to a furnace blowing cold air. Gregg's were called and they quickly diagnosed the problem as a blocked intake pipe outside the house. The cause was the exhaust pipe which had been improperly installed by the contractor during renovations in the summer. A quick fix to both it and the water heater exhaust had us working properly. Best of all, they waved the house call even though I had suggested I would take it up with the contractor. Great! Thanks. Impressive!

Dennis

WARRANTY SERVICE CALL November 11, 2011

I just had one of your technicians come in and service the furnace we bought from you. Your technicians are always very knowledgable, polite and always put booties on their shoes which is a nice touch.
After he finished his inspection, he came upstairs and asked if he could go through what he did.
I have never had any problems regarding your company, the service you provide and your polite technicians.
Keep up the excellent customer service!

I had a plumber from Gregg's come out to my house because my toilet kept running and running and I tried to fix it myself, but I couldn't figure it out. I grabbed the yellow pages and sstarted looking for a plumber to come out - so I called around and most of the places I called it sounds like the plumber is driving down the road in his truck. I was lucky to get to Gregg's plumbing and they had really nice ladies answering the phone. I wasn't crazy about haivng to pay $99 to have a plumber come out but nearly every place I called was charging a call fee raning from $49 - $109 so I figured that's what you have to pay for a plumber. The guy that came to my home didn't speak the best english, but he took the time to explain how all the corrosion in my toilet had eaten away at the parts and then told me that my toilet was already thirty years old so maybe it would be time to look at a replacement. So I bought a new toilet for around $500 and I know that I could have got a cheaper toilet at home depot for like $200 but I would have to pay a fee for a plumber to come out and then he'd have to install it and so I didn't really see how saving $100 was worth the time and effort when the Gregg's guy could do it then and there. Overall a good expereince and I would recommend them but when I look at plumber complaints alls I have to say is that you get what your pay for.

I had a sink that kept giving me grief and so in a moment of frustration I called Gregg's. The technician that showed up was very friendly and courteous. He showed me the problem and quoted me a price to fix it. Even in the moment I felt the price was very high, but I was tired of dealing with this same problem over and over so I said yes. So he replaced the kitchen tap and I paid the price, thinking the whole time that for the amount i paid, I had better never again have a problem with my sink. I really felt like that when later in the evening I was at a Home Depot and saw how much the tap that was installed was really worth. I realized then that even though Gregg's claim they do not charge by the hour, they actually do and their labour costs are extremely high. Again in a moment of weakness I signed up for their "service plan", mostly based on how friendly the technician was. But now that I know how much Gregg's pad's their prices I intend on cancelling the plan. The old saying "fool me once shame on you - but fool me twice and it's shame on me" really applies to Gregg's only I won't let myself get fooled again.

    Padding Prices

How do you know they pad their prices? Also, I don't think comparing the cost of a sink from Home Depot which is a multi-billion dollar corporation with that of a local plumbing shop is a fair comparison. Of course you can get everything cheaper at home depot.

    Huge padding

They have huge padding on their prices. Under their "straight forward" pricing they will charge you about $250 to change a simple abs fitting worth $2 and about 15 minutes worth of their time.

    Padding Prices

Well BRADREVIEW it looks like you have a hate on for this company because you think they overcharge. Do you work in the plumbing industry? I've used Gregg's. You have to be living underneath a rock not to know they are the most expensive place in town. And strangely, they're the biggest plumbing shop in town. I imagine its because people don't mind paying for excellent service. If you want a cheap guy who will charge you what you think a part costs at Home Depot, then get someone out of Kijiji.
