I picked up my little one from the clinic and was very happy with the service, until i was presented with the bill. I wish they had asked my permission before providing "extra" services.

I brought my 2 year old Chocolate Lab in to the Kingston Road Emergency Vet because he had been ill for about a month and we had tried other veterinarians but weren't taken seriously enough.

I put all my trust in to the Doctors (I think the two main Doctors were Dr. Mitelman and Dr. Samson). I won't go in to much detail about what happened but I will say it was a very difficult, very long surgery and one hell of a recovery period. We did pay a pretty penny for the surgery since it was after hours emergency and so difficult, but we were pre-warned of the costs and obviously it was worth every penny!!

I was and still am shocked at the service that we received. I received phone calls at home with updates, they let us visit whenever we wanted, they explained EVERYTHING in detail, I can go on and on and on about how lucky we were to have brought our dog here. Even the front desk staff and assistants were great during this traumatic time.

I have 3 dogs and have since moved them all to their care (non emergency) and I would highly recommend you do the same if you're looking for a new vet that 'actually' cares.

I would like to offer my gratitude & respect to the wonderful services at Kingston Road Hospital. I found my experience was that of a wonderful one & will continue to put all 3 of my cat's care in the care of these wonderful individuals! I read a few of the the other posts and find it hard to believe that people would have anything negative to say. However that does not mean that is not how they viewed it, but maybe these individuals are just a real negative bunch that find fault in others/everything & not themselves(I'm just saying), but you know those people.

I would definately recommend anyone that requires emergency care for their little fur ball to bring them here, as they saved my cat's life. Had they not been kind & understanding to my needs I would not have him with me today & both me & my girls would be devestated!! They are reasonable & from the start was up front & explained that he (Dr.Meitelmann) will not do anything that does not need to be done. I thank him with all my being & knew from the moment I met him & his staff that they have what's best for your animal at heart. As for the prices yes it can be costly, but how can you put a price on FAMILY??! If you require surgery or emerg care does treatment come cheap? These people are MEDICAL professionals & went to school for many years in order to achieve that & commend them for it. They were also very understanding to my situation & did whatever could be done to be cost effective (as a student & mother of 2 - I'm not rich by any means) but would pay it again if need be. I have nothing but good things to say. They are KIND people & kind people deserve kind things said of them so that's what I'm doing...THANK YOU DR.MEITELMANN & TEAM...KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO...CRAZY CAT & HIS HUMANS THANK YOU ALL KINDLY!

I tried to post on here before, and for some reason my post didn't appear. I stumbled on this site and was shocked at the negative posts. Disgrunted ex-employees perhaps? A client with an axe to grind, (without all the particulars being given to the people reading the posts)?

If these posters are indeed posting facts, then why would they not have addressed these so-called issues with authorities.

For many years I have worked with animals from rescue organizations. Not long ago I was seeking a second opinion on a kitten I was fostering, which was in obvious poor condition. Dr. Mitelman saw me, depsite the short notice, and me not being a regular client.

He was able to give me a diagnosis and much needed advice on how to help this little kitten thrive. He took the time, did a thorough examination, patiently answered all my questions and provided me with printed information regarding the kitten's disorder. His interest and concern was genuine.

I have used many vets in the past due to my involvement with rescue groups (most groups use their own vets), as well as my own vet. I have also worked in a vet clinic.
I am well aware of the expenses of vet visits and treatments. I found this clinic on a par, and perhaps less expensive, with costs at other clinics. What was different than many of the clinics I have used, was the quality of care and the compassion.

The ones slandering the good name of the clinc and the veterinarians would be wise to heed this quote:

I have just stumbled across this website and I am shocked at some of the comments.
I volunteered with a cat rescue group and last year I wanted a second opinion on a very sick kitten. I decided to go to Kingston Rd. Animal Hospital.
I was impressed with the attention given to this kitten, especially considering I was not a regular client.
Dr. Mitelman went to great lengths to determine what was wrong with this kitten and provided me detailed articles and made sensible suggestions on how to treat this it.
I would not hesitate to recommend this clinic and can only surmise that there is a group of disgruntled friends, perhaps ex-employees, that are on a personal vendetta to tarnish the clinic's reputation.

Please do not trust all the recent back to back rave reviews of this hospital. They as in Dr,Mitelman and Dr,Samson are getting there employees and top clients to make reviews on here because of recent attention brought to the CVO. I was one if the clients asked to participate in this. They have also asked many other clinics to back them as an emergency clinic. They are not a good hospital and like others said, they are only in it for the money. A few of them are the manager and doctor of this clinic that have posted on here and other sites.   I am a real client, with real pets cared for by Dr. Mitelman. And I am a client who feels that my pets are being given the best care possible. I have chosen this clinic after years of taking pets to clinics that did not offer this exceptional care and respect of both my animals and my family. There are legitimate costs involved in taking care of our pets. The doctors who treat them are highly educated and trained. They are qualified surgeons. And they save our pets' lives. The negative comments made by former employees and so called unhappy clients are of a personal nature and inappropriate. Dr. Mitelman and Dr Samson are wonderful doctors and fine people.

  Worst animal hospital you could ever take your pet to. They are all in it for the money.

My chihuahua Riley is 15 yrs young and 4 1bs. Dr Mitelman has
simply been wonderful to Riley. He has had some very serious medical issues over the past 5 years. First he had a toe removed due to a cancerous lump. And now recently he has had his right eye removed after a long period (last 7 yrs) of close observation and countless treatments to no avail. Dr Mitelman has always been there for us. He has given so much of his time and expertise. He is a very compassionate and extremely understanding doctor. We have tried to be conservative, trying to keep the eye intact as long as we could to give the best quality of life. Dr Mitelman always has listened and has given as much time to me as I needed. I thank him for the wonderful laser surgeries he has done (all looking absolutely great!). Looks like my Riley will be with me (hopefully) for more years to come! Thanks to the great care we have received over the many long years I have been with this clinic. And Dr Samson, whom without words has always been more then wonderful! I would never think to go anywhere else. Mind you the wait to see the doctor sometimes is long but I have never minded. I know they are busy and I know when it is my time, they will give me all the time I need. I have 3 dogs in total and feel that this clinic takes just wonderful care of all of them. When a friend of mine who was my breeder turned very ill and her dogs needed urgent placement Dr Samson did not hesitate to help. I have been with this clinic since it opened about 30 yrs ago and I feel they are like family to me. I have absolute complete trust and faith in the care they provide and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good clinic to take your pet to.

The previous ratings sounded textbook perfect,my experience was a disapointment.

I have been doing business with this facility for over 25 years. Drs. Samson and Mitelman have provided terrific care to my dogs, whether it's been for regular checkups, or more serious health issues, such as eye ulcers, cancer, heart failure/murmurs, respiratory problems, diabetes and alopecia. Three years ago a good friend of mine who was a breeder had a stroke and was no longer able to care for her dogs. The staff at KR Animal Hospital worked with their contacts here in Toronto and in other cities, as well as advertised on local radio, and quickly found homes for them all. The result was a ton of stress off my friend, at a time when she needed all of her energy to cope with her own difficult health situation. This is an incredible group of professionals that treats people and their pets with respect.

The vets at this clinic, particularly Drs. Samson and Mitelman, are determined to provide the highest level of service. They will not turn you away if you show up with a sick animal, even if they're closing. They will call you to check up on how your animal is doing, days after you left. My three cats have never been in better health, thanks to KRAH and its staff, since 2002.
They offer the latest in medicine, and will not hesitate to offer you the best in medical treatment. This does cost a bit more, sure. But tally up how much your next visit to the doctor would cost if you had to pay for every treatment, every test, every step out of pocket, and you'll see that what your pet is being offered is the latest and best in medicine. It costs $4-5,000 to have a baby in Ontario, and that's without any medical interventions. Compare that with the cost of care for your pregnant dog or cat.
These doctors do not treat animals like moving GUND plush toys. It's easy to throw a couple of pills at you and leave it at that. Your pocketbook will thank them. But your pet will not. If you can't afford the treatment, then you can't afford it. People face this situation every day. But no principled medical professional should offer the least effective care possible or not offer certain courses of treatment just to say "Look! We're cheaper than the other guys!" These vets will give your pet the best care out there, both in terms of medical treatment and follow-up.

  Is it fair to say that you are infact the creepy doctor that works at Kingston Road Aniamal Hospital? I think so. But infact no i am not an ex-employee, just a citizen that had a terrible experience at your clinic. As for your concern that i may be an ex-employee, that screams there isnt something right.

  I am not a doctor, either Ph.d., DVM or MD. I do have three cats who have been cared for by KRAH since 2002, and they have done a great job, in my opinion, which incidentally is over eight YEARS in the making. My issue with your comments is that for someone who says they visited the clinic once, BRIEFLY, you seem to be spouting a lot of negative information that you wouldn't have access to in one appointment.

  It is amazing that trumptower, a citizen who claims to have had such a brief contact with this clinic, seems privy to so much behind the scenes information. Hopefully anyone looking for a vet clinic will give the credibility to the reviews from clients who in fact have a steady and longer-standing relationship with these fine doctors. I would not be basing my decisions concerning my pets lives on such bitter sounding accusations.

I have been a client of Kingston Road Animal Hospital for many years. Over that time I have gone from owning 1 dog to a houseful of pets. I have always found Dr Samson and his team (of vets and staff) to be outstanding in the care for my pets and myself. They call after visits (sometimes more than once) to inquire how my pets are doing. I have to admit in the past I have tried other vet clinics just to see what's out there and have always returned. Basically what I have found is you get what you pay for. Another clinic ignored my puppy's inability to be a pudgy pup and said she was just very active. At the age 1 yr Dr Samson urged me to do bloodwork which uncovered that she was in early renal failure. We had 3 more years with her due to the research they did to help slow the progression of her diease. I'm convinced she would have died much sooner and in crisis if I had not returned to them.
I love their 'prevention' style of medicine and feel included in the decisions of my pet's treatment. I would much rather be presented with options and the costs associated with them than to ignorant to my pet's health.

Just to let everyone know all these people that are raving with these reviews lately is because they were asked to by the the two head doctors at Kingston road animal hospital because they have had many accusations come out about them. And the ones that have written 4 stars are indeed employees and close clients

In Aug. 2009 we took our dog Billy as an emergency to KRAH. We realized that we had finally found a clinic that would provide us with exceptional medical care and respect our pets and us in the process. Dr. Jonathan Mitelman has been taking care of Billy since then. Billy has serious medical concerns which were hard to diagnose and challenging to treat. Dr. Mitelman has been relentless in seeking solutions to these issues and unfaltering with his support for our family. We truly have a partnership in the care of our special dog.
Dr. Mitelman also cares for our rabbit BJ and guinea pig Radar. He has given us with information and guidance which enables us to provide them with a wonderful life.
I feel I should comment on the financial aspect of the process as it seems to be the first priority with some. Our family is not wealthy and we have given up other purchases to pay for the vet care of our pets. Realizing that is a personal choice I do have to say the costs at this clinic are not out of line from any other clinic we have been involved with. The difference is the superb level of care and interaction we have with Dr. Mitelman and his staff. I highly recommend this clinic as one with exceptional medical care and doctors who provide us with a personal approach to our pets'needs as well as our own.

  C'mon everyone, your story sounds like you have been a faithful client for years but these guys take advantage of clients like this and only suck you in to take your money!!! I have been there and heard the awful things that are said about clients. They are not in for the love of animals they are in it for the money and hire people of a different race because they know they can take advantage of these people because they are new to the country and will work for dirt cheap and take their crap. There is a reason why you see so many different faces at this clinic, its terrible and the ones that work there know it best.

  Why would my positive review not be given the same merit as the nasty personal comments made by what appears to be angry former employees? I have given my honest experiences and feedback based on the exceptional care given by Dr Mitelman and Dr Samson. The attacks on their characters made in some of these reviews is offensive. Over the past year and a half Dr. Mitelman has shown himself to be a wonderful doctor and a fine person. I will continue to entrust him and his staff with the care of my pets....a choice I have made based on my own experiences. And I will continue to recommend this clinic.

  It should come as no surprise that Barbara0819 works for KRAH/VetsToronto and manages the social media aspect of their awful practice. I know this because she and Mitelman contacted me through email to threaten me with legal action for posting an honest, negative review about KRAH on a Toronto blog.

This clinic over-charges its' customers.

This is a common problem with many pet clinics. Make sure you don't buy your pet's medicine from a vet, they must give you the prescription if you ask for it then get it filled from a pharmacy. Also be sure to ask for a written estimate in advance of getting any procedures done on your pet then compare prices between clinics.

  Don't bring your pet here they are only after your money. Biggest scam going. I think they hire street people and train them how to take the customers money and then tell them to go see their own vets. Its funny when you have a complaint they all seem to be the managers of this place. They are good at not listening to you once they have your money and they brush you off.
