4 Reviews for Kultura Restaurant, Lounge & Catering Rated 4/5 Stars

Beautiful place and amazing food. You have to go and try this place, it has the best food in the city. I promise you will love it! It really is one of Toronto’s hidden gems. This place is the definition of enigmatic. Look for the stylishly large window filled with candles at King and Jarvis and you’ll know you’ve stumbled across the right place. The second floor is 3 times as big as the first and my favourite.
The décor is right on, very sleek and sexy. The food is exciting and influenced from places around the world. All things here are meant to be shared which makes for a winning experience with any crowd. I have taken friends, coworkers, business partners and my picky brother here, and on all occasions, all have left amazed.
Come with an open mind and empty stomach and you are sure to be enticed by everything Kultura.

We went as a party of four to Kultura for Summerlicious.

My friends and I feel more at home at King West, but decided to venture eastbound on King to try out Kultura for Summerlicious.

I'm not a huge fan of Summerlicious, as sometimes I feel that the food seems kind of factory prepared.

This was not the case at Kultura. Everything we ordered seemed fresh and made-to-order. And delicious - more later!

Kultura is a 3-level restaurant that's very modern, cool and comfortable. I wouldn't classify it as romantic, but definitely a cool place to go for a group of friends. It has a really nice, chill vibe.

We went on a weeknight, and it was fairly busy, but not crowded. There is a lounge area with some small tables on the first level. The second floor is more of a dining area. We were in the area close to the back, where it seemed a bit more exclusive. It had some real high ceilings.

Apparently, there is a private dining room on the third floor, which I didn't have an opportunity to see.

The cuisine is definitely Pan-Asian.

For Summerlicious, there were three options for appetizers - Chicken samosas; naan; and Sushi Pizza.

We all tasted each others appetizers, and we were all equally impressed with each item. The flavours were very vibrant and authentic. The presentation was excellent.

For the main, I had the striploin with red miso, tomatilla salsa, and honey sriracha. It was cooked perfectly. I was a bit skeptical about all of the flavours, but they were subtle and served to complement the beef - not overpower it.

In addition to the sirloin, two of my other friends ordered the sea bass with cassava and ginger. They loved it. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and was a fairly decent size.

Dessert was perfectly fine. The four of us ordered either the doughnut holes or the sorbet trio. Nice way to end the meal, but nothing to rave about though...

I ate here in the summer and everything was delicious. Tried it again the other night and was not impressed with the food. The Sirloin beef which had been sooooo good, the last time, we now had to send back...unseasoned and totally bland. For $22 for 6 small slices, you definitely expect more! The manager was very nice. When she had heard about this, she prepared two nice glasses of dessert wine for us, and of course took the Sirloin off the bill.

The dessert, called Honey and Nut was delicious. However, I wanted a simple tea to go with it. The cheapest tea was $8....way to seep, I mean steep for me!!!

Service was very good, but doubt I'll be returning. It's the type of place that is fun to go to with a large group to try a variety of dishes. But once you've exhausted the dishes you like, they're not so great to keep you coming back.

When a new restaurant is this hot....I expect rude service. Not here. I expect over crowding. Not. Snooty hostess? Not even. We did drive the waiter absolutely nuts trying to figure out how to order, and not all of our party of 8 went in on the shared tapas type menu. Several fights actually broke out at the table trying to figure out who wanted what and who refused to have any of that.

All the while our ultra patient, never stop smiling, good looking waiter never wavered on his recommendation of exactly what to order.

So how was it? Outstanding food meets innovative concept. With different small dishes arriving every 15 min or so, it felt more like we were at a party tasting delicious orderves. Loved everything, with the possible exception of the oxtail. Perhaps that’s just me.

Lounge on the main and dining upstairs. The interior is spectacular - our only complaint - a mere 3 individual bathroom "stalls" for the entire place - mens and womens. Clearly not sufficient. And let me just say that standing in line at a bathroom is just not the place to strike up a conversation. Perhaps that’s just me too.

Go with 6 people. 4 is too few to get much variety to share, and 8 just doesn’t work at those long tables.

$250 per couple with ample wine and dessert.

I know....could have bought a WII or something for that kind of cash. Unfourtunetly I have wealthy friends. They don't even flinch. We on the other hand, have to eat Mac and Cheese for a week to make up for the one night of apps.
