11 Reviews for Mariaggi's Theme Suite Hotel Rated 3.5/5 Stars

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mariaggi's Theme Suite Hotel. It is designed beautifully for couples!! Everything about your stay is important to them. They make sure when you arrive the room is perfect. They took us into the room and explained all the details and how everything worked, it was great!!! They had candles lit and treats on the bed, they made us feel special.
The room was very beautiful and well laid out. We stayed in the China room. You can't go wrong with that choice!! State of the art amenities like I had not seen before. We will return, no doubt.

ROMANTIC GETAWAY August 10, 2011

We stayed in the India suite for our anniversary. It was very luxurious and comfortable, complete with waterfall jacuzzi, steam shower, pool table, and 60" TV. It was romantic and staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. We ordered food that was delivered to our suite. One of the best meals we've had. Delicious. A little pricey, but well worth it. Only down side: no parking. The cost to park overnight in one of the downtown parkades was astronomical.

I had a negative experience booking this place as I thought the booking rep on the other line was rather rude. She seemed rather impatient answering my questions and was just really interested in my credit card number. Because this is my first time, I just wanted to clarify my package but she seemed rather impatient. I haven't gone to the place yet, but right off the bat I have a bad feeling about the staff. The conversation was abrupt as if I am wasting her time and she just kept giving me vague answers. I hope this place is worth the price.

My husband booked this hotel as surprise for my birthday. I would say it was a good choice. I enjoyed our overnight stay! The room is very exotic being an african theme and has a romatic ambience perfect for a couple's getaway. The african stuff is really cool! Like it so much! The whirpool, steam bath are great, except that at one point the steam bath didn't activate as quickly as first time we used it. The receptionist was also quite fast in explaining how things operate, we could have asked her to slow down a bit, but just didn't bother as we were eager to explore the room. Parking is also not very convenient. You have to walk few minutes to a safe parkade and walk back to the hotel. No elevators so your travel bag with wheels won't work, but one male staff offered to carry our bags to our room so no biggie. Other than those I've mentioned, everything is great!! I would still recommend it for couples who are looking for something different, not a typical contemporary hotel. I had fun and was able to relax well!

Being from Alberta and heading to Ontario, I had heard about the place from friends so we decided to stay there for our anniversary. What a great place to stay for a romantic getaway and what a way to impress my wife! Everything from the person we reserved the room with and to the polite, very informative and helpful front desk person(Teri) who checked us in and made us feel so welcome was so over the top with the first class service. The theme room we stayed in was called China and everything from the decor to all the amenities was so beautiful and exquisite. Needless to say , we will be staying there again in the future for any special occasions. Thanks again for being such great ambassadors for the city of Winnipeg and for just being awesome people and making our stay so pleasureable and a experience to remember for many years to come! See you again soon! Thanks Ron & Denise

AN AWESOME STAY November 30, 2009

MY WIFE AND I STAYED AT THE MARRIAGI FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY AND HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. PRIOR TO OUR ARRIVAL, THE STAFF CALLED US TO SEE WHEN WE WOULD BE CHECKING IN AND THEY LIT THE CANDLES AND HAD THE FIREPLACE ON WITH THE LIGHTS DIMMED. TRUELY ROMANTIC!!! THE MEAL DELIVERED TO OUR ROOM WAS SIMPLY DELICIOUS. THE CANDLELIGHT MEAL WAS TOTALLY EXQUISITE AND THE MUSIC WAS A TOTALLY ROMANTIC SETTING. FURTHER MORE, THE STAFF WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING AS WE HAD TO CANCEL OUR RESERVATION THE DAY BEFORE OUR STAY DUE TO A VEHICLE ACCIDENT OUR CHILD HAD AND THE STAFF GLADLY LET US SWITCH OUR RESERVATION FOR ANOTHER DAY. ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO THE STAFF, THEY ARE GREAT. QUESTION IS, WHY ARE THOSE OTHERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE DVD'S (YOU WANT TO WATCH A MOVIE, GO TO THE SUPER 8).COST SHOULD NOT MATTER WHEN BOOKING A NITE FOR COUPLES. THESE THEME ROOMS WERE NOT MEANT FOR WATCHING DVD'S, THEY ARE FOR COUPLES TOGETHER TIME.WE HIGHLY RECOMEND THE MARRIAGI FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS A PLEASUREABLE GETAWAY WITHOUT HAVING TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY. ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS THE TRAFFIC NOISE. A TRUELY MEMORABLE ESTABLISHMENT WITH A GREAT STAFF TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN FOR YOU.

My husband and I have been to Mariaggi's 4 times and have stayed in 3 different rooms thus far. We love it so much it has become our Valentine's Day and Anniversary destination. The staff are always very friendly (and remember us when we visit) and the rooms are fabulous. We recommend it to everyone! It is a great place to go without having to spend a fortune on the destinations the rooms cover.

I stayed there for my boyfriends(at the time) 18th birthday and I really enjoyed myself. We got a bottle of wine with our names on it, which was very nice. All the candles along the wall were lite, we had a candlelit dinner served to us, and all the amenities worked perfectly. I would defintily go back there. It was a very gorgeous hotel. I do agree with the other lady saying the service intself kind of sucked, and the lobby itself wasnt very nice, but the room was gorgeous and well worth my time. All in all it was a great experience.

HIGHER EXPECTATIONS March 22, 2009
By: DNM

My husband booked a room for me as a surprise for our tenth anniversary and although the room was very nice, the experience was not that great for the $500 it cost. The only reason i know it cost that much was because when we checked in, the desk clerk told my husband (right in front of me) not to lose the $500 key. Pretty tacky for something that was supposed to be a surprise for me. They have you pick out cd's and movies from a rickety old bookshelf when you get there. The entire entrance way looked pretty rickety and gives an awful first impression. The cd/dvd player froze everytime we watched a movie so we'd have to skip parts to be able to watch the rest of the movie. When i told the front desk about this, they said it probably had to be cleaned but didn't seem at all concerned that it didn't work for us. The instructions for how to use the tv, stereo, etc. were written on a piece of ratty cardboard kept with a useless little wind-up flashlight so you could read it. The room had a fridge with a few juice cans in it but if you drank one, they would charge you $1. For the price of one night there, you would think they could stock it with a few complimentary juices! We did have problems getting the hot tub to work but luckily we were able to resolve the issue by calling one of the numbers they left for us. The bed was very hard and you could tell just by looking at it that it was well used as it was sagging horribly in the middle. One good thing was the massage that we got with our package. I would have liked it if my husband and i were done at the same time but the massage itself was very nice. We got a complimentary breakfast at the Pastry Castle next door which was not good at all. It took half an hour just to get your food which was served cold. They didn't offer ketchup, jam, salt, pepper or more coffee. When we checked out, the clerk said she hoped we would come back again but didn't ask if we enjoyed ourselves or had any issues, etc. We would not recommend this hotel for anyone...not for the price they charge anyway.

    $500 Key

The room does not cost $500. The KEY costs $500 if you lose the key. They told us the same thing when we checked in, about the $500 key. That is a replacement cost, because they give you the front door key to their building which costs a lot to replace if you lose it.

The rooms are $250-$350/night + extras.

i booked a reservation about 2 months in advance, and also put a $200.00 deposit on my visa.
i called mariaggi's at noon to ask if they could light the candles (which was part of a package i purchased), before i was to arrive at 4pm.
the lady asks for my name, and she tells me i did not have a reservation. i ask for the manager and he calls me shortly.
i explai the problem, and he just makes things heat upeven more. now this is the part which irritates me the most, its the fact that the manager was trying to tell me that i was the one who called in and cancled my reservation.
c'mon now, it was suppose to be a surprise for my girlfriend on our 2 year anniversary. nobody knew about it, my girlfriend had no clue about it. why would i cancel knowing i would not get my deposit back? which the lady made clear when she took my reservation! the manager says i canceled in september, which is not true, he blames me for this incident saying i had canceled and just forgot about it, which again is not true. i had been looking forward to that day, and something messed up on their side. and once again the manager try's to tell me that it was me or somebody who had cancelled.
i tell the manager several times, just give me my $200 deposit back, and we can forget any of this happened.
he says he cant do that, but can give me a credit for the following weekend, which i do not want because of what had just happened. i booked work off on that exact day just to stay at this "hotel" and i didnt even end up going.
the manager himself wasnt being professional at all about it.
what kind of business would blame a valued customer??
obviosly they do not value their customers.
he then tells me that he can refund my $200 deposit MINUS a $40 cancelation fee. WTF?!?
