Do not support this store or you are supporting puppy mills!!!!!

I purchased my little Westie girl from Mauch's about 10 months ago, she is the most loving smart puppy I have ever had:) Yes the store smells bad and there are a lot of puppies in each glass cage! When I saw this puppy me and my son instantly fell in love with her!!!! The woman that helped me was very helpful and answered all the questions that we both had! I would definately get another pup from them!!!!!

Although Mauch's pet superstore smells a little funny, it doesn't smell that much worse than any other pet store. Every time I've been in there, the staff is always friendly and cleaning after the dogs. Someone said that there is not always food present in the cages, but that is because it's not supposed to be. Dogs do over eat. Furthermore, dogs are also tattooed by many breeders before given to the pet stores. Maybe before complaining you should all get your facts straight, because you all sound pretty stupid.

I've been dealing with groomer at Maulch's pet shop for about 4 years and normally I get good customer service; but, not this time around my poodle was in badly need a hair cut. I made appointment & on appointment day show up only to be told the groomer will not be in. I asked to reschedule the appointment and I was told "No. I don't know when the groomer will be in". It's bad enough I don't get phone call to cancel to appointment; but, then I'm told that they don't know when the groomer will be back. What kind of business is that? Oh well now I get my dog clip at Kit N Kat Poodle on Bloor St. where their customer service is awesome.

  This is a little rude because I know this groomer and at the same time this review was posted, she was very ill in the hospital. The staff tried their best to explain to costumers about this traumatizing experience. Have a little sympathy here.

There has been a report made to the Durham SPCA. The treatment of animals here is appauling. Hope this store is shut down for good.

The conditions of this pet store are absolutely terrible. I don't care if you're an independent pet store, there is no excuse to be keeping your puppies laying in their own filth without water or food, not to mention selling extremely ill rodents and reptiles. I can't count how many horror stories I've heard about this place, and I hope something gets done about it soon.

I know the conditions of this store are horrible. They get investigated and clean up there act tong enough to stay in business and go back to their old ways. They get friends and family to give them good reviews but please as hard as it is do not buy anything from these people. The owners need to be put in jail for what they do to animals. Hopefully the city of Oshawa smartens up and gets rid of this place for good.

I bought my Yorkshire Terrier at Mauches Pet Store almost two years ago. I am very happy with him, he is healthy and I love him very much. However, I have to agree with the little glass cages. I would much rather see the puppies in the large area's on the ground. My Yorkie was in one of the top glass cages, which broke my heart when I saw him. I think that they are more for hamsters and rabbits perhaps and not puppies. Other than that, I believe the store is like most pet stores out there and I would shop there again.

Great Place ! It is bigger than it looks . Good staff fairly helpful. Best selection of puppies that i have see in a store in a long time . Impressed on how many fish tanks and repitle they had . Took my dog in for grooming and its the best my Sandy has looked in years !! Really good groomer treated my dog excellent and gave her cookies !! i would recomend

Went in staff was friendly and greeted me at the door . showed me what i was after , helped me with a puppy ., The smartest dog ever !!! would recomend this place to everyone !!

my Fiance and I went into this pet store a couple days ago, first of all when u walk in the door the smell was unbearable not hygienic at all. i understand animals go to the washroom but this was intolerable i would not bring a child in their. my fiance and i noticed right away the cages were very small and had so many puppes in each one, they were made out of wood and was very worn down. they had real glass on each of the cages and the dogs were jumping up against them i could only imagine what would happen if they broke. I felt so bad for these poor animals their cages were so filthy inside. i managed to ask to a hold a tiny male boxer puppy and noticed right away this horrible looking tattoo on its stomache that said L 6 ALL scribbled it looked like someone tattood him with a home tattooing machine. right then and there i wanted to buy every single puppy in the place but of course i couldn't. my fiance and i left and i cried. i want to do something about this no animal should have to live in a state like that. we are going to the humaine society to file a complaint tomorrow and im going to do everything in my power to help those poor animals. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND EVERYONE WORKING THERE SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE IN A DIRTY 3X4 CAGE CROWDED WITH FECIES everywhere. please do not buy a dog there and if at all possible go in and see how bad it is and make a complaint for yourself we need to help these animals.

I went there a few weeks ago and was SHOCKED to see how run down the place was... there was a tiny little glass cage thing that was probably 3x4 and it had a large ammount of chhuahuas... they were climbing all over eachother because they were so crammed in there... it made me sick! they also have WAY too many dogs for the little ammount of staffworkers they have...
the staff workers were not helpful at all... I got a "Heeeeeey" when i walked in and a "later" when I left...
other then that they didnt speak... t hey sat there doing nothing while the poor dogs are crying in their cages... this place should be shut down or be taken over by a new person... also in the glass cage that the Chihuahuas were in there was a huge chunk of the door missing where the chihuahuas were grasping for air.

went into Mauchs the other day. Its near downtown oshawa so my expectations were not very high. we went in and there were a few teens working, and they didn not seem to eager to acknowledge any customers...and there were more staff than customers. most of the dogs were pretty sad looking, some even looked like they were candidates for a humane society comercial. One of the girls was trying to open the back doors to the cagesto get food in there and she was getting pissed off with a few of the dogs wanting out of there cells. she was usingn her foot to almost what appeared to be kicking the dog and was yelling at him.... nice! another employee was setting mice traps infront of everyone in plain veiw. i went in with the curiousity of possibly buying a couple fish... but after that i would'nt even purchase crickets for my lizard there. I always feel bad for the animals at even big pet shops like PJ's, but this left me a little uneasy!

I think it is a great pet store !! If problems do arise i am sure they take care of it and look after everyone . Most or all breeders tattoo or microchip their dog for id and fro registration. It is really a common practice . If you don't know what you are talking about you should be better educated or informed !!!! I shop their on a regular basis and have never had a real problem and if i did they always looked after me !!!!!! The staff is alway friendlty and know what they are doing , It does smell LIKE A PET STORE , if it where a bakery i wouild expect a diffrent smell !!! c

We purchased what we were told was a Pom from this store.
The purchase was driven by not wanting to leave
this puppy in the cage, and after paying $1200 we took him home.

over the next 6 months, the little ball of fluff quickly turned into a large (for a Pom HUGE) American Eskimo. He is a perfect example in fact of an American Eskimo..

We had no reason to believe he was not a Pomeranian, when he was only a few weeks old..His "paperwork" said he was, and so did the $1200 price tag.

Is this yet another reason not to buy from a store? Does this happen often?

We love our dog of course, but do feel like this is not a mistake they could have made..surely they know what a Pom is?

  the problem is some people don't try to work out the problem and just want to bash on certian pages without telling the whole story !!

I purchased a puppy from Mauch's. I couldn't be happier. The puppy was healthy and happy, no problems. The staff was helpful and friendly. Would recommend to my friends and would go back.

I dont know what ILOVEPUPPIES is talking about i purchased a puppy and 2 kittens from trent pet. all my guys are healthy my vet recomended trent pet to me and also a friend who also bought a puppy from them. the staff is very helpful the store is very clean and the animals are well cared for.

My partner and I bought our puppy from there because it wasn't feasible for us to track down a breeder and hadn't seen any good adds on Kijiji in a while. Brought our puppy to the vets within 2 days and she was super healthy, had had her shots on time and good deworming which meant we didn't need to get that done again. She was playful from the start and is a great pet. The food they suggested for her has also been the best, no feeding problems, no weird bowel movements, no throwing up.. nothing. Really couldn't be any happier.

i love the store becuse it has all my needs and all the pets i like and enjoy useing the store.....
