GREAT EXPERIENCE! February 11, 2012

I was very pleased with my entire experience. I received a cut & style by Tracey, who styled my hair even better than I had expected! While waiting every employee that walked by offered me a beverage, everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The salon is well kept and clean, much better than most salons in Ottawa. I definitely recommend this salon and will be returning regularly in the future!

PEDICURE January 22, 2012

Pedicure was rushed and not that great for price. The staff also ignores you if you complain to bring up an issue that could have been improved

I used to go to this salon because of a stylist who is no longer there. This place is a joke. After that stylist left, they wouldn't tell me where she had gone. I relented and agreed to see another stylist and as a result, I received, without a doubt, the WORST colour I have ever had. To make matters worse, I was treated very poorly when I voiced my dissatisfaction. Sure, another stylist 'tried' to fix the issue, but after my hair had been bleached the way it was, the damage was done. Do yourself a favour and stay away. This place is all smoke and mirrors. Anyone can call themselves a highly-trained professional, but can they deliver?

THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Not only did I not get what I asked for (brought a picture so there would not be any miss communications) but they robbed me. $400 (which their cost is approximate of $30)for a color. The hair cut which took the stylist five minutes and never styled it and the color took two hours which would mean I paid them $200hr. That should be illegal.......
Do yourself a favor and never go or it will cost you...

HAIRCUT August 4, 2011

I got a hair cut there, the stylist totally listened to what I said I wanted in a hair cut and was funny and charming. I liked her a lot, I booked an appointment in advance so I get her again. Looks different but suits me. Only reason I didn't give it 5 was because the head massage was not even a minute long, thats my favorite part! :) obviously going again.

I have only been to SAAB once, and it was the worst experience I have ever had at a salon. It is also extremely overpriced. After everything was said and done, it was $280 for hair that falls just below my shoulder.
I needed my cut and colour fixed - once in the natural light, I realized the highlights stopped halfway down the back of my head, and the cut had layers that did not fall properly. I called to get a couple more highlights pulled through the length of my hair, and the layers feathered out a bit (easy fix!), and quickly learned how unprofessional and rude the staff are. It took 2 very frustrating conversations with the owners daughter (I was not allowed to speak with the owner) for her to make an "exception" not to charge me to fix the colour. When I got to the appointment, the colour technician said that lowlights would also help fix the problem. After half my head was done, she informed me that there would be an additional charge. The owners daughter came over and said that she never informed me the fix would be free. They were then going to wash out the half head of colour they had already put in my hair so I could leave. (I was NOT leaving with HALF my head dyed...) the owner then came over, was completely condescending, warned me that he was going to be abrupt, and told me that he didn't talk to me when I called because he was too busy, that he was only fixing my hair so I would stop bad-mouthing his salon (which I hadn't, but he said his 25 years experience in the business meant he could assume I had...), he wasn't sure what I expected from a salon of SAAB's "Caliber", and that once my hair was fixed I was to never step foot in the salon again, I was not welcome there anymore.
I was shocked at the low level of customer service and the horribly rude and condescending treatment from the owner and staff. He has nothing to worry about - I wouldn't step foot in his salon again if it was the last in the city!

I go to SAAB regularly for my brazillian waxing but try to avoid having my legs done there because of the high prices. Today, however, I visited another place [rejuvenation skin care clinic] and they did such an awful job that I'm going to have to have my legs re-waxed anyway! SAAB's staff are always so welcoming, they take your coat, offer you a beverage (coffee, latte, etc.) and are MUCH more professional than other places. The entire experience is better and I always have the positive results.

I will be going back to SAAB next time I get ANY waxing done because I think the extra money I will be paying will be well worth it!

Overpriced. Not worth the money. Most stylists have not even passed their respective exams. Very simple haircut. Go somewhere else.

Saab Salon is overpriced and offers poor quality expertise. I feel robbed I paid $240 for a too short hair cut. The higher than usual salon costs...$85 for colour, $65 for haircut and the rest for a shine I don't see, add to it- the stylist lack of experience - I will return to another aveda salon - Toss Salon - ...where I only pay half this cost for a far superior service. Very expensive lesson learned!

I had to get my hair re-highlighted for a last minute event, so I googled "best colourist in Ottawa" and came across these reviews. So, I crossed my fingers and made a phone call and they managed to fit me in just 2 hours later!!! When I showed up, I was greeted by a lovely lady at the front desk who brought me a cappuccino while I waited. A friendly young lady, JAQUIE, then gave me a tour of the beautiful salon and spa and helped me get settled for TRACEY, my colorist du jour. TRACEY was AMAZING - listened to what it is I was looking for, asked a lot of questions, and then proceeded to work absolute magic on my hair. MIRANDA, an assistant at SAAB, did my wash and toner and gave me the most delicious head massage in the world. Finally, Tracey straightened my hair and ensured thatI was 100% happy with her work. I paid my bill, which, to my surprise and excitement, was a lot less than I was expecting. Overall, I am extremely happy with my experience at SAAB... never before have I left a salon THAT satisfied! I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone! Cheers =)

GREAT SPA July 8, 2009

This is a review on their spa:

Saab is an Aveda salon and this was my first time having an Aveda Facial and Pedicure. I must say it was amazing. Haley came to greet me at the door, give me a quick tour of Saab and then brought me down to a spa room where there was a luxury chair covered in a duvet, dim lights, and ocean sound effects. Obviously the room smelt incredible because of all the Aveda essential oils. Hayley is really efficient and dare I say it rough, but in a good way. All of us who have facials know that you either like it hard or soft and Hayley definitely put some elbow into it. I personally prefer this to the person who lightly traces her fingers over your face while thinking about what she's wearing tonight. Needless to say when Hayley exfoliated, she exfoliated and when she massaged (which she did excellently) I relaxed.
What's cool about the Aveda facial is that I got a head massage, face massage (the.best) and neck massage then seriously long arm massages. So by the end, you're getting nearly and upper body massage included in the price of your facial. Pretty cool. I also appreciated that Hayley was respectfully quiet (everybody hates a talking facialist).

After the facial I got a pedicure which was fun. It wasn't a private room so you got to talk to other spa workers and clients, Hayley was very good at facilitating conversation and including everyone. But best of all, I must say the (I think it was) walnut exfoliant they use was incredible!

All in all, I would say that if you are looking for a good spa and a nice experience Saab does the job. The only thing that might discourage seasoned facial-ers is that they do not do extractions or a special, treatment just for your uniquely mixed skin. Furthermore the pedicure room isn't as glamorous as we know some other spas to be. But honestly, I will be going back. Efficient, pleasant, calming with the added benefits of all that massaging and getting to choose which oils you want plus no pushy after-sales.

I would recommend it to anyone.

i recently became interested in purchasing hair extensions. unsure of the different methods and results i pursued some assistance and called saab salon (i knew of it because my sister always mentioned having her color there)... they invited me in for a free consultation which included a great latte!
after speaking with there specalist Celine i decided to ask around some other places because although the greatlengths sounded like an awesome option i just wasnt sure of the price.
after a bit of research i went out on a limb and booked in for them at saabs. they are amazing!!!
ive had them for about a month now and its just like styling your own long hair. celine did an amazing job and it was well worth the price!!

Being a "guy's guy", I had never been in a salon/spa before, and at first was skeptical about the experience. I envisioned the place to be a venue for nouveaux-riche women going to get their hair and nails done while sharing gossip.

From the moment I stepped in Saab for the first time and was greeted with a friendly smile, I felt welcome and at ease. I had originally come in just to get my hair cut, but was treated to a complementary wash and shampoo, as well as a soothing neck massage. The stylist took her time with my hair, ensuring my complete satisfaction, resulting in an excellent haircut.

The staff were courteous, warm, and professional at all times; my visit was more than just a haircut - it was a relaxing and fulfilling experience. I have recommended Saab to friends, and would extend that recommendation to anyone looking for great-quality service in Ottawa.

TERRIBLE April 20, 2009

Got my hair colored there multiple times (1st time was great, 2 other times a complete disaster). My turned my hair white for a simple highlight and didn't even admit it looked weird. I came back the next day and they corrected it after my family saw it and were appalled. Then I gave them a second chance a few months later for a touch up - they turned my hair orange!!
Also got a pedicure - overpriced and they made my toe bleed when they were buffing!! Hurt for a week! They hire complete morons!

SALON February 19, 2009

My best haircuts come from this place. Although it is a bit pricy it's worth the extra money. I feel comfortable in these professionals hands that they will give me a cut that i will adore. The staff is friendly and professional! I highly highly recommend this salon!

WAXING August 25, 2008

I just got my legs waxed for 55$ at the spa...and it was really disapointing. The light in the room was burnt out so she didn't seem to be able to really see whether she what she was doing. So I had to ask her to redo many spots where she missed. After coming home and looking at my legs I still see tons of hairs she's missed. After paying $55 I find this unaceptable. I would not recomend this place to anyone. Avoid it if you can.
