My husband and I went to Stokes begining of December, to take advantage of a sale on dishes. We selected our dishes and bought two sets. We explained to the clerk that they would not be opened until Christmas, as they were a present to ourselves. We specifically asked, what if when we open them there are damaged pieces, she point blank said no problem, bring them back for an exchange. We asked if we needed a special receipt, she said no, just hold onto your original receipt, that would be satisfactory.
Well low and behold Christmas morning, we open them to find in one set, three broken bowls and a broken mug. The other box, had three broken mugs and one broken bowl and two chipped plates.
We took them back to the Stokes on 130th Ave in Calgary, where we purchased them, only to be yelled at, insulted and then when asked to speak to the manager, she wouldn't even talk to us on the phone. At that point we expressed our disgust with their lack of professionalism, and that we would think twice before ever shopping there again, to which we were told "we don't need your business!"
So because a clerk made an error, I am stuck with two incomplete sets of dishes that I paid 80 dollars for.
I have told everyone I know about this experience, word of mouth is powerful advertising,if this makes one person think twice about shopping at Stokes, I'm satisfied.
