Hi there, if you are looking for good service, i would suggest that you head out of town to Duncan. The sales staff at Duncan Hyundai have a no preasure aproach and made my experience a joy. This is backed of course by there A+ BBB rating, Unlike Victoria hyundai's F rating. I found that Victoria Hyundai had a bunch of extra's on their vehicles that they try to force you to buy, and duncan just had a few very basic add ons that didn't send the price sky rocketing. so if you are looking for a great experience. Give Duncan a try. I am glad i did.

    For the record, the extra's that you discuss are always optional. We accesorize most of our vehicles when we buy them with mud-flaps etc as most customers decide to put them on. You always have the option though to order a car with nothing.

THE WORST April 4, 2013

I thought it was the worst dealership I've ever been to. There were no cars to look at. I wanted to cruise around, sit in a couple cars, see what I liked. But I had to sit down and talk about what I was looking for (I didn't know yet that's why I was looking) and then wait for a single vehicle to be driven for me to look at from another lot! It was unreal. The salesman was super pushy and insincere as was his superior who came over and asked us the same questions. I felt awful and was so disappointed. In the end I got to see one used vehicle. I couldn't leave fast enough. Too bad, I like Hyundais.

    We have a fairly standard process with our customers here at the dealership and it is designed to provide a consistent and pstraightforward approach. What you describe certainly doesnt fit the bill and I agree, it sounds like some disconnect has occured. For that I apologise.

    For reference and or interest, our process is:

    1) to greet you with a smile, promptly and cheerfully
    2) to sit down with you, and to ask some questions in order to examine your needs and your wants. This is done to best maximise your time and for us to be able to make suggestions, both initial suggestions and viable alternatives if the initial suggestion is not right on the mark. We do alot of listening here, this is a consultation that is designed to allow us to provide you a vehicle that fits your needs, and your budget, and to do this with maximum respect for your time.
    3) to introduce you to a manager, a salesperson cant be "on duty" 24/7, so we like to give multiple points of contacts
    4) to show you a car, and if you like it, ultimately go for a drive to make sure that it will fit in your life. If you think that it fits, we are here to help you buy it
    5) to assist you with your paperwork, trade-in and auto insurance
    6) to explain your maintenance and warranty, and to counsel you on how to best take care of your newest investment.
    7) to provide a professional delivery, that is quick, explains all of the features, and to provide you with a tour of our service area
    8) to follow-up after sale, and confirm that you are pleased with your purchase. If not, we work with you to take steps to rectify any concerns.

    We find that this is a pretty pain free process for most of our customers. In fact, last year we were the only Hyundai dealer in SW BC to win Hyundai's independently audited President's Award of Merit, Hyundai's highest, customer satisfaction based award.

    Our lot is absolutely very constricted in terms of space, I am sorry that you had to wait to be shown a car, but our three compounds sometimes take 5 or 10 minutes to reach and return. We're downtown afterall, and its hard down here to find parking for 200 cars :)

Victoria Hyundai was a low pressure sales environment when I came looking. I gave my sin to Stefan, and he took it t his manager.
They told me what interet rates was approved for and that I would be approved for the loan at 0%!!
I decided to think about the car, and ended up visiting a couple more dealerships, where the salesperson followed me around, and pressured and grinded me until I walked away.
I can tell the last poster on here, that if you we're serious about buying a car in the first place you would have had more than ten minutes to spare. And I think they need the sin and stuff to read your credit and see if you can get the 0%. If I'm not mistaken.

My experience was quite the opposite, Indy and Jamie were great, it seems like a fun place to be! The only complaint I have is that another salesperson tried to approach us while we were clearly with Stefan, I believe his name was Chris? We were more than happy with Stefan and will only return to buy a car from him. My husband and I have nothing bad to say. We had a good experience even though we still have a little bit to wait until we can buy.

The last guy must not know what he's talking about, everyone was so nice!

I went to the Hyundai dealership looking for another used vehicle due to my liking the car. We went in and right away had to fill out paperwork with very personal information on it (SIN number, wanting to know/check credit history). There was a "push" to go for a new car, despite really saying that is not what we were wanting. After two hours of talking to car sales dealer, then some financial manager that could come up with figures, then checked by the financing advisor. We had yet to see one car, we on our own wandered out and the original dealer kinda followed behind us. He wasn't very helpful didn't have keys ready and kept trying to get us back into the financing office. Eventually we told the "finance" people that they had 10 minutes and we were leaving. They continued to waste our time and we left. Then since this we have had two calls, one saying a couple of questions about something to do with car financing. Which is mind boggling because we hadn't actually okayed anything. Will NEVER return.

    I'm sorry that you had trouble, this is not what we want any of our customers to have.

    Yes, part of our process is to chat with you and ascertain your needs and wants, also, as 95% of our customers are financing (at zero percent, it just makes sense right?), providing personal information is part of the deal. The terms and conditions of any car loan are based on you and your good credit. I'm sorry though if you felt that this was intrusive for us to ask. There must be something more to the story though, I'm sure that you can agree that if we kept people away from the cars for what you describe as "two hours" that we wouldn't be very successful, I know I'd be peeved if I was kept from doing something that I wanted to for two full hours. We're the number 1 dealer in BC for Hyundai, which is pretty cool, as Victoria is not the largest market by any means, we wouldn't be that successful if we gave bad deals and bad service right?

VICTORIA HYUNDAI February 4, 2013

We purchased a used Hyundai from Victoria Hyundai just over a year ago. At the time we were most impressed with all the staff with whom we came in contact - they were personable, helpful, and not the least bit aggressive. The car was like new, and has given us excellent service. I have had one service contact (routine) with the dealer, and once again was highly impressed.
Recently I noticed a small problem with the upholstery, which, according to the manual, was not covered by warranty. I sent an email indicating my concern that premature wear had occurred in a very low mileage car, wondering if I might be able to purchase a seat cover that would prevent the problem from worsening. I was quite delighted with the response - they have offered to replace the involved panel at no cost.
I have never had a car experience like this - this dealership aims to please, and goes the extra distance to satisfy its customers. Kudos to Steve and all the excellent staff who are so committed to customer satisfaction.

3 1/2 months to get a second key? Nothing but lies and excuses. We paid fopr 2 years of oil changes in advance, but will lose that money rather than go back to Victoria Hyundai for any service. Will also tell everyone I know about the lies and lousy service.

    Steve here, I am the dealer at Victoria Hyundai and I take a personal interest in all of our customers, both happy and unhappy. I am sorry to hear that you are of the latter.

    As can be seen in the a long standing chain of replies and positive comments we are pretty easy to deal with. In fact, although we never rest on our laurels, we have one of the best customer satisfaction ratings in the country.

    Although we respect your opinion, I must admit that we find your comments a bit unfair. For one, the delay in your key set was due to another dealer changing the locks on the used car that you bought from us and not updating the codes in the Hyundai system. This is not forseeable by our operation, and although our staff was subjected to significant verbal abuse by you, they remained steadfast in their desire to rectify the situation. Your key is a side cut key that must be cut by Hyundai (not here on site) and only from code (not a blank cut key) when the first one didn't work, we assumed error by the locksmith and at our cost ordered a second. This took time. Once we realized that in fact the code was wrong we went literally across the country to find a locksmith in Markham Ontario that would reproduce a side cut key from a digital picture. Once this was received our fixed operations director delivered it to your door personally in order to verify that it worked. Mr. Coyle, we are disheartened that you are unhappy, but we have gone out of our way, and used considerable resource to satisfy your concern.


    We have never worked with anything other than your best interest in mind and have taken steps to ensure maximum respect for your time.

    It is unfortunate that you remain upset.

    Please enjoy the Elantra purchased.

SERVICE November 22, 2012

I took my car to Victoria Hyundai for a brake upgrade. They work was done to my satisfaction. After a few hours of sleep, I worked 12 nightshift before dropping my car off. I pick it up in the afternoon. Paid the bill and went home happy. When I went to wash my car on Saturday I discovered that it was damaged on the right front bumper. As have had very good service before I took it down to the dealership to complain. That is when the trouble started. I was told to bring it back after the long weekend. I told to the service manager and he was humming and hawwing about the damage. We walked into the service area and told by Willi that " are you talking about the red Genesis it was damaged before it come in here". There was no damage to my car before bringing into have the service done. There was nothing said to me when I picked the car up plus there was no indication on the workorder that there was damage noticed. I have written to Hyundai Canada who have forward that correspondance to Victoria Hyundai. Guess what NOT A SINGLE REPLY FROM VICTORIA HYUNDAI. I emailed Steve Munro at Victoria Hyundai. Guess what NO REPLY AGAIN. This repair cost me $300.00 insurance deductible. So I am not happy with the response or should I say lack of response from Victoria Hyundai.
I love my 2011 Genesis Coupe 3.8L GT. It is a lot of fun to drive plus I have customised it to my liking with tint, chrome pieces,exhaust system and tires& mags.
This experince with the service department has put a very bad taste in my mouth.

    Steve here. I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy and I am surprised to hear that you feel that I did not return your correspondence. I am quite committed to our mantra of building customers for life, this can be seen here in this forum. If something was missed however, I apologize.

    It is unfortunate that a disagreement was had in the service department, and I remember your case clearly, as it was reviewed quite thoroughly by our service team and escalated to me as you are a multiple vehicle purchaser and great service customer. It comes down to it though that we have some consistency in our check in, check out and technical documents and are confident that we did not damage your car. I'm sure that you can imagine that this is something that we focus on, as yours is not the first car with damage and some question of who did it in the car business.

    We take the care and control of our customer's vehicles very seriously. To this, we inspect all cars that come into the shop and if we make a mistake and damage them, we fix them. Don't take my word on this, just read down through these threads to see that we put our money where our mouth is. Additionally, we drive a culture in our team that allows a staff member to admit to a mistake (like vehicle damage) without fear of punitive response. This gives us confidence that any damage is reported quickly. Unfortunately in your case, there was no indication in any of our checks and controls that the damage occurred here. My recollection of it also is that it is relatively minor damage, a few hundred dollars. This is absolutely not something that we would 'nickel and dime' over. The emphatic position of the service department in your case however was that the damage did not occur here.

    I always say that talk is cheap though. We can say all the good stuff we want, but it is action that shows intent. Please consider that we are a firm of action. This can be evidenced by our commitment to the community, where this year alone we have donated a car to the BC Cancer Foundation, as well as a car to a local DND member. Additionally, we have given thousands of dollars to local efforts. If you read down the thread to a review given by "Ron and Sylvia" some 8-months ago, you can see that we sometimes even fix peoples bumpers when they do it, just to be nice guys... I hope that you can see that these efforts are not the actions of a firm that is concerned only about the bottom line.

    All this being said though I am disheartened that we could not reach some consolation here, and saddened to hear that you are upset.

    At the end of it if you would like to reconsider your position and are prepared to compromise, as a last ditch effort to recover any goodwill I am prepared too also. Please feel free to call me at 250-995-2984, or email me at smunro@victoriahyundai.com

2011 ELANTRA July 20, 2012

I originally purchased a 2009 Hyundai Tuscan. How I loved that car, but I knew I was about moved a ways out of town and the gas was kind of excessive. I came in to see about a more economical car…thus my nightmare! I was approached by Shawn Sheridan; and right away in full salesmanship mode. I ended up with a discontinued Hyundai Accent, I had the paperwork reviewed by another Hyundai dealership and was told flat out I got hosed! I came back wanted to get rid of this car…after an emotional journey to hell and back, Indy did work magic and got a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. The car was a better than the Accent, and I appreciate Indy and his hard work. Now that the storm wore off, I saw a Veloster (like I originally wanted!) and I was mad..add insult to injury I had my car appraised and the priceI paid was well over the car’s value..my bank was shocked! I am stuck driving this Elantra, meanwhile seeing the Velosters, make me cringe! Oh another burn? I owe them $1,700.00 for “Services”…Next time NISSAN!

After purchasing a brand new Veloster in a city other than Victoria, I had a less than satisfying purchase experience. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed(actually WOW'd is probably better put)with the level of commitment to Customer Satisfaction shown by Victoria Hyundai not even the dealership through which I purchased! It only took expressing my honest disappointment. I can now say I love my new car- it's the smallest amount of care that can bring someone right around in opinion.

My husband and I just purchased a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Though previously owned, it was new to us! Shawn Sheraton sold us the car and what a great guy. I was a little leary of car salesmen (things you hear and see on TV) but he was down to earth, very approachable and knew his stuff!!! After driving the car for a month, there were a few cigarette burns in the side door panels that were starting to bother us as neither my husband nor I smoke. When I called Shawn and Steve (the dealership owner) about my complaint and asked if there was anything they can do, Steve was more than happy to oblige. He said he'd do anything to ensure we were happy with our new car! I wasn't excpecting alot, afterall, it was previously owned, but he made us a deal we couldn't possibly pass on. We are in the midst of getting it all dealt with and my husband and I couldn't be happier. This dealership is, in my opinion, the best dealership in Victoria. They follow up for weeks after you purchase your car to see how it's running and if you're still happy with it. They don't just sell you a car and never talk to you again. Very, very nice people from the reception desk, sales, service and owner! Thank you!!

the hardest thing about working with victoria hyundai was waiting for my new car, a 2012 Hyundai Veloster!!!! It's one of the only ones in town though, so worth the wait. I want to thank everyone at the dealership for being so helpful, even with such a high-demand car, they were professional and fun to work with.

My wife and I wonder into hyundai and we were greeted by saleperson named jay dick. It was off to a bad start. We told him we are looking for a car but we have not yet decided yet. He insisted on taking our info and we finally gave it. It got odd when he asked for SIN. I told him I am not giving him the SIN. He backed off a little. We liked the hyundai elantra and decided to go for a test drive. Before we even went for a test drive, one of the finance guy came out and said, he would start working on the number. Slow down, it is quite pushy. We did like the car, and when we came back we started the negotiation. He insisted on asking us to sign the the letter of intent saying, we would buy the car if we like the number. The negotiation was not good either. he presented us with a couple options which were all the same really. It was more playing with numbesr and trying to convince us that it is a good deal when it is not. We tried to leave because it was getting into the scam territory and then i believe the finance manager came out. It was initially 0% financing as advertised. He said he wanted our business and will give us 3000 discount. When I told him, I want to think about the number, he quickly pulled the offer sheet and ran into his office. It was rude. For a 3000 discount, the payment plan only reduced by 10 dollars/month. for 84 months, it would be 840 dollars. What happened to the rest of $2160. I was amazed by the number so I asked to speak to the guy again and of course he never came out again. I insisted on getting the right number and at the end, turned out the sale rep told us it was a smart plan and there are 2.99% on it. How nice. From then on, there was no way I am going to do business with these guys so we were just trying to leave. It was a difficult escape from the dealer as we were forced to work hard just to get out of it. Very pushy people. Almost had to call the cops to let us get out of the dealership. SO BEWARE. Enough said. Good luck to all those looking for a new hyundai. Go to Vancouver or duncan. I heard they have better dealer there.

    I'm sorry to find out that you've had a bad experience in the dealership, from what you describe, I can see why you'd be upset. This is not the norm here and certainly not what we want you to go through.

    We have a sales process that may not work for everyone, but it is certainly not a "pressure" type store. Did you know for example that Jay is being recognized as the #1 BC Salesperson April 2 by the New Car Dealers Association of BC at the Gala Event prior to the autoshow? I'm sure you can agree that you can't become this succesful if you give bad service and bad deals. Also, City Hub has voted us Victoria's Favourite car dealership, so although it seems like there is a disconnect here, we do manage to get a few things right!

    Although not positive, thanks for your feedback, we are glad to have it!

We had a great experience buying our Hyundai Accent, and we’re totally delighted with the car. It’s particularly pleasing to pull up at the gas pump. We notice the fuel efficiency big time, and spent about $150 less in fuel this first month, mostly driving around town.

The car is a joy to drive. My husband is a tall guy, and he finds it roomy and comfortable to drive.

Our salesperson, Zach Rowand was exceptional. When we came in to Victoria Hyundai we specifically requested that we not be pressured in buying a vehicle. We told him we’d be trying a lot of makes and models, and would want to test drive vehicles several times. Zach was consistently helpful and patient, and respectful of this request. All in all, we took over a month to make the final decision on a make and model, and in the end the Accent was a clear choice.

We are also very grateful to the manager of Victoria Hyundai, Steve Munroe. The first day we owned the Accent, I drove onto a sharp rock while parking. The front bumper cover cracked and the corner popped off. The collision repair company estimated a $980.00 repair job, but Steve had it fixed expertly at no charge to us. Thank you, Steve!

If you are anything like me, you do a lot of research before you buy a car. I have always been a fan of Hyundai (If you haven't heard of them before, it rhymes with Monday, and is the Korean word for "Craftsmanship")

All the guys and gals at Victoria Hyundai made the car buying experience a real gem! I live in Southern Ontario, but I made the trip to BC so I could get some of that service I read about on here... I was NOT disapointed!

As I drove my Accent back thru the praries on my way home, people at gas stations (With an Accent, you won't stop at many!) and restaurants were commenting on the big smile on my face! It all goes back to Victoria Hyundai!

I can't wait until my wife's car needs replacing... I'll be making the trip again! I only wish they had a service dept in this province!

I had no intention of buying a Hyundai but after walking into Victoria Hyundai I knew that I was dealing with friendly, caring and honest professionals. I was sold and I'm very happy with the decision I made. My new Hyundai is fantastic and my new friends at Victoria Hyundai are the best! Don't go anywhere else if you are in the market for a new car - I'm very impressed - and it takes a lot to impress me. I look forward to doing business with these people for years to come.
