I read a lot of great reviews, so a friend and I visited for a hair cut. We booked an appointment, but ended up having to wait 45 minutes before she was ready to take us. They were very friendly and offered us water as it was summer. My friend got a cut from Yen, and it was mediocre. A very basic trim and it wasn't even styled nice, as her next customer was waiting. She paid 50$ and could have gotten a better job elsewhere for much less. My haircut was good, but for that price I at least expected the salon to look a little more upscale and better decorated, with more time spent on a hair consultation.

My first time getting my hair done at “Verve Hair Design & Spa” HWY 48 /16th Ave was on the September 2010. I had a great experience while I was going to attend the wedding of my niece. Since I have very curly and puffy hair, I got it done for the first time. So at the wedding everybody liked my hair, they were surprised and were asking me how you did that.
I was so happy because my hair stylist did a great job. Now after 6 months I went again to “Verve Hair Design & Spa” and got my hair done. Trust me they do such a great job I could never think of, now I have such nice straight, smooth and shiny hair which makes my life easier. I don’t have to spend hours to take care of my hair. If you have curly and puffy hair and it takes you long to style it you should go to this spa you will never regret it. The staff is very expert and is very hospitable as well; they take care of every customer and offer refreshment as well.

I've always wanted to perm my hair but most perms usually last a couple months and don't make your hair very voluminous. I went to a salon once and my hair was just slightly wavy after a perm. When I saw my friend with very curly hair that did not seem to fade for almost a year, I immediately asked her where she got it permed. She introduced me to Yen and I went straight to her. The perm took about 2/3 hours and Yen and her staff were wonderful. They are very friendly and took amazing care of my hair. It takes a lot of patience to perm someone's hair but she has the magical touch. I loved my first perm and I even went back a second time a year later. She wasn't lying. It actually does last a year! My hair used to be pin straight and thin, making it look boring and flat but with the perm, it's so fluffy and wavy and curly. I always get compliments for my hair and I would recommend Yen to anyone who asks.

I've been a client of Yen's going on 3 years now and every single time I've gone to Yen I've left ecstatic about my new hair. Not only does the lead hairstylist, Yen, use the most innovative products, but she is up-to-date on all of the current trends and does her best to accommodate her clients' schedules.

When my husband and I first moved to Markham, I tried to find a hairdresser that I felt comfortable with. Let me be clear--I have been to MANY high-end salons--none of which compare to Verve. Yen has kept me as a repeat customer due to her attention to detail, positive attitude, skill and genuine care for her clients.

For years I've been going from place to place trying to find a salon where I would get quality cuts for my hair. One day I decided to go to Verve and was pleasantly surprised. Not only do they have high quality service, Yen is also one of the most skillful stylist I've been to. Not only is she a pleasant person but she understood exactly what I wanted my hair to look like and feel like. Before, I would be very nervous to get a haircut because I'd worry about how my hair would look like afterwards, but now with Yen, I am relaxed and worry-free as I trust and have full confidence in her and after every cut I feel amazing.

I went to do colouring at Verve as well and I was also very satisfied with the turn out. They were very attentive about what colour I wanted to achieve and even though my hair used up three whole bottles of dye (I have thick hair) the price was still very fair (paid around $70 for wash, colour and dye).

Another thing I'd like to mention are the hair washes. I didn't know there was much technique to hair washing but there certainly is at Verve. Every hair wash is a wash and massage combined into one! It is very relaxing and soothing!

All in all a great place with quality service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone!

I come to Verve Hair Design Salon regularly the service, and the work is amazing. I read the review below me and I could understand her frustration, but is there a salon that is perfect? I really enjoy it, and so do the other people with the high ratings and experiences.

The first time I went there, I really liked the service, it was quick, and I really liked how they worked. As now I regularly come back, and I wouldn't choose another Salon.

My regular hairstylist is on mat leave and I wanted to try some place new. This was the first time going to this place and I have no idea what the hype is about. I JUST came back from this place and I had the worst experience EVER! I've asked to get my hair dyed and highlighted and if they are able to do it within 1.5 hours. They said yes. I specifically asked for Yen cause EVERYONE was praising her in the reviews.

Yen asked me what i wanted, barely listened and left me with her assistant. Her assistant didn't know what she was doing. She started to dye my hair and didn't do my roots. Yen yelled at her and she came back to finish the roots. Realizing her assistant had no idea what she was doing, Yen didn't even attend to me. Her assistant rinsed off my hair and didn't shampoo it, until Yen asked about it. She took me back to shampoo the chemicals our of my hair. They didn't have time to do my highlights. Yen came back to blow dry my hair. Didn't even ask how i wanted it.

It took 2 hours to just dye my hair. No cut. no highlights. No styling. My hair is really simple. Long and straight and is not difficult to deal with at all. It usually takes 2 hours to get my hair cut, dyed and highlighted at other places.

I paid $90 for a half ass dye job and for "blow drying". I didn't tip them. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I wouldn't come back and trust them to highlights! I would not recommend this place at all.

I came into the salon with a cut and colour done from one of the other well-known mall salons. The cut was horrible, the colour was not at all what I wanted and the stylist was rude.
I made an appointment at Salon Verve 2 weeks later and Yen assessed what needed to be done to correct the cut. She worked her magic and the new cut and colour turned out great!
I left the salon feeling like a million bucks :)
