i don't recommend this place at all, both my cats practically lost a whole pound after coming home from that place. And they were suppose to be in a semi-private suite but at the end, the owner of the business placed another cat into their semi-private suite. Also, from what I saw, the food she was feeding my cats was not the brand she promised she would be feeding them!! Lastly, that place is actually really dirty, even though she emphasize that she cleans it everyday, I doubt it, the beds my cats were sleeping in were really dirty!!!
I visited a few weeks back to look at the setup, etc.
It was dirty. All the cats were running around. When I suggested that our cats would not like to associate with others, especially since they are much smaller than the ones that were clawing at my clothes, the caregiver seemed to discount my suggestion, insisting that all the cats get along. The litter boxes had a small amount of cat litter available for use.
About your weight loss, I can see my cats going through the same – fear alone of the other cats running around would cause them to hide in a corner in fear.
I've boarded my two cats at the Cat's Meow at various times in the past three years. They've always come back happy -- not traumatized. The owner has always been responsive and clearly cares for the cats staying at her business.
