So i went to pronuptia for my dress in february and needed it for june! The saleswoman was very nice at first made me fall in love with the dress. The minute we payed, she stamped alterations NOT included! They didn't even warn us before, she waited till after we paid! Then the nightmare began!

1- They refused to order my size they said i was too late and the dress would never arrive on time!
2- They never warned about the alterations
3- When i went for the fitting, they were extremely rude and impatient! I was leaving on a trip and didn'T have time to get my bustier, so they made me sign a paper saying that i was liable and that they wouldn't do anymore alterations once it'S done
4- When i got back from my trip, i had gotten my bustier, i called the store and asked if they started the alterations. They said no. SO i asked nicely if i could come for a second fitting (normal thing to do for a bride) and they refused. They said i already had one fitting it's enough. I explained that since they hadn'T started working on it, i don'T see the problem. After arguing with them, they said i could come try it on but they won'T readjust.
5- I went to talk to the manager, and explained what happened on the phone and she said the person who spoke to me was stupid and didn'T know what they're talking about and that they'd be happy to fix the dress for me since they had NOT STARTED the alterations yet.
6- I got for my appointment and find that the dress is altered and i can'T do anything anymore!!!!

when i went to try it on, the girl didn'T even go in to help me put it on and was very very rude! RUDE arrrgghh!

Anyways, all in all not a nice thing to do to a bride to be, especially knowing the stress that comes with wedding preparation. Buying a wedding dress should be a beautiful process and it was not! They made me hate the dress and regret having even stepped into their store!

I actually had a wonderful experience at France B. Pronuptia. I came in the store in August 2010 just to look (My wedding in on July 2nd, 2011) I started chatting with a nice lady and I started explaining what I wanted. I wanted something very specific; chiffon, fitted, no embellishement on the skirt, a train...(I had looked at a thousand dresses before coming to Pronuptia and everything seemed too big for me or cheaply made). She brought me upstairs and pulled up a few dresses. I tried on 2.. The second one was amazing! Exactly what I had pictured and it fit me like a glove, I loved it!
I ended up buying a tiny tiara there and my veil too (the seller however, never pushed the sale, I wanted those accessories and they were the most beautiful I had seen, plus the price was really reasonable!)
My mom also ended up buying her dress there (and feathers to go on her head! It's beautiful!)
The ladies there (because of the 2 fittings, plus the 2 sales, we ended up talking to a lot of them.. ;) were super helpful, and were always nice to us.
The alterations were also beautifully made, and the ladies who made it were making sure we liked everything, we worked a lot together and they seemed to be very dedicated about their work.
The actual dress is also beautiful! After having seen a lot of dresses from other stores, I can definitely say that I prefer my dress!(Obviously..haha) The actual fabric is of very good quality. It's not a dress which only looks good from a certain distance :P I am very pleased with it.
I couldn't say anything bad about my experience at France B. Pronuptia! Everything went smoothly and the staff was nice!
Can't wait to wear my dress in just a month!!!

I know it it is a little bit late (I got married a couple of years ago) but I think it is worth sharing. I bought my wedding gown at the Laval location and, during my first fitting, which was in Montreal - thee Laval's location was shut down - I was told to cut my shoe heel's off because the gown was too short. The problem I had is that, even without my shoes, the dress was way too short (above ankle). I had to fight with them but got my way around. Coming from Toronto, it was at that time a little bit too late to change my mind and I had to fight very hard to get my way around as I did not have enough time to order a gown from another bridal store. So, don't give up :)

NEVER GO TO THIS SHOP!! while i have seen some of the sealswomen are quite nice, i had the most horrible service. the woman who sold me a dress acted like she was doing me a huge favour, gracing me with her service. i got my dress on sale, which seems to mean you get treated terribly. the alterations they are doing are terrible, then they get angry at me for being too "picky." the problems with the dress are not small, the area around the bust looks ridiculous, they have not altered it well. they get mad every time i come in for fitting, my salesperson saying "YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD ALL THIS DONE AGES AGO" as if the problems with the alterations are my fault. shopping for a dress is supposed to be fun, my experience has been a nightmare. AVOID THIS STORE!

My sister got married in October 2010 and she bought her dress at Pronuptia on St-Hubert Street in MTL. She had a great experience and the sales lady was wonderful. When I got engaged, I decided that this would be the perfect store and I would probably buy my dress there. I called to see if I needed and appointment and none was required. I got up on Saturday morning, with my sister’s, mom, mom in law, and nieces, a total of 10 people and we headed off. We paid for a 2 hour parking and headed to the store. When I walked in, the sales lady at the desk did not look happy at all. You would think that at a bridal store, they would be ecstatic or at least have a smile on their face. I walked up to her smiling and she didn’t budge. I told her I was there to buy a wedding dress plus maid of honor and bride’s maid dresses, when she saw how many people we were; she said it wouldn’t be possible that we were too many people. When I phoned to inquire about the appointment, no one ever said that there was a limit to the amount of people that we were allowed to bring to a public store. I told her about my sister recently purchasing her dress there and she said she would ask the manager. Well, the answer was still no. I got so upset that they could reject a potential client. I made sure that everyone in the store understood how ridiculous they were saying that they just lost not 1 but 5 sales. Their customer service STINKS and they have no sense of proper business. I’m so surprised that they are still in business. I advise all potential brides to NOT go into this store or even consider them. I was so excited to get out that day and look for a dress that they completely ruined my first store experience. I cannot believe that I even considered them. I will make it a mission to spread the word and no bride should go through my experience. Thank God for Sposabella, they were so welcoming and the salesperson was wonderful. She really enjoyed her job and made me feel like a princess with every dress I tried on.

    i agree!

just be thankful they did turn you away, or you would end up with terrible customer service for the alterations...seriously, you're lucky. i wish they'd turned me away, i am so unhappy with their service. i am supposed to have my final fitting today and i am DREADING it, because they are terrible at alterations and yell at ME for being too particular. anyways, i am glad you got out when you did! :-)

Maybe this was a blessing in disguise. I'm so sorry that you are going through hell. All I can say is make sure they do exactly what you want, you're the one paying.
    Have a great wedding!

i wish i had read all these comments before purchasing my dress from there! The frustration is unbearable. I'm going to try to contact ''protection du consommateur'' maybe we can get some kind of justice and avoid this happening to others.

When I first saw my dress in France B Pronuptia, i fell in love, and paid the deposit on the spot. The service was good that first day...and that is where it ended.

This boutique refused to give me any fittings on the week-end because that is when they want to focus on potential buyers, not existing clients.

1st fitting: I had to call in sick at work to make it there for the first fitting. All they really had to do was attach the spaghetti straps. I expressed concern because I had a lot of problems with the zipper. They said "Don't worry, it will be fine".

Final fitting: I could not get any more time off work so i went in on the weekend but they would not allow me to try it on so I just brought it home. It turned out that they had attached the straps so tight that they were digging in my skin. I dreaded the thought of having to deal with them again so i took some sewing scissors and removed the straps myself and transformed my dress to a strapless although that is not what i had wanted.

My wedding night: The dress was a success and it all went beautifully until 11pm when my zipper broke. I had to safety pin it closed for the remainder of the evening.

I returned to the boutique after my honeymoon and explained to them in tears what had happened. They had the nerve to tell that it is normal because it is such a delicate zipper for such a heavy dress. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Many millions of wedding dresses have been made without this problem. I refused to leave the boutique until they finally agreed to fix the zipper.

I really wish I had been warned about this place before I went there. Once they have your deposit....you are an after-though...completely unimportant.

Two years later I am still upset.
Enter at your own risk.

When I went into this store on a whim, to browse for a dress for my youngest daughter's wedding, I found the staff to be very helpful and the selection exciting. Surprisingly I found a perfect dress and because I was from out of town, they immediately did the alterations and I was able to leave the store two hours later, not only with a fabulous dress, but also with the requisite high heeled shoes. I was on cloud 9 and can recommend this store for any moms out there looking for that perfect dress.

I ordered by dress there about 4 weeks ago. When I wentr back to inquir4e about having to colour changed from white to ivory, they refused to consider this. They're explanation was that the order had been placed with the manufacturer and could not be changed. Given that my wedding is not for another 7 months, and the dress delivery date not scheduled for another 6, I have a hard time belieeving that the dress is already in production. While pronuptia may have a reputation based on their selection, their customer service is whithout a doubt horrible.
