I'm lucky that I have a Pet Valu close to me. My Jack Russell needs stuff to chew on ALL THE TIME. If it isn't a piece of rawhide or some other type of bone, she'll find something else to chew on -- couch arm, shoes, anything really. There are a couple of other places in the area but I use this store because I've come to know the owners and staff, and they're very knowledgeable about Jack Russells and dogs in general. They have the usual selection of food, toys and pet accessories, nothing special going on here with the stock. They're also a little pricey, but worth every penny in return for the personalized service.

They've gotten me through the pet food scare, a serious flea infestation, and converting my dog from a pet groomer to self-groomer (we do it, for free).

PROS:
personalize service, good selection, parking all over the place (in a strip plaza)

CONS:
a bit pricey

  I like Pet Valu. We have one up the street & where we live, the prices are actually lower on alot of items, vs. the bigger chain pet stores. I always get exceptional service when I shop there (which is extremely helpful when You buy large bags of dog food. That is quite a sight to see, me trying to carry the dog food, using a cane with a bad back!)
  I would definitely recommend shopping here if you just need some basic items.

  I like Pet Value too. Have you tried using a kong (undestructable toy) put peanut butter inside or a bone... drives them crazy for hours trying to get it out ... lol

  I usually go to PetSmart, also very pricey, but I like Pet Valu too! I find that the new 'super Walmarts' have a pretty good selection of Pet stuff now, and of course at the always popular low prices!
