I've been going to this store all my life. I remember when you viewed the item you wanted to buy in a display, wrote down the information and gave it to a person on roller skates who got the product for you.
Anyway, prices are good but don't expect to find a lot of sales staff. Generally the staff are friendly and helpful except for the odd rude one. Their return policy is excellent. I've never had a problem with them.
The price of gas at the gas bar is always higher than other local stations. Mr. K. W. Mann, the franchisee, likes to get top dollar here. During the oil spike a couple of years ago he charged $1.35/litre - higher than anyone else that I'm aware of in the Toronto area. Save a few cents and go to the Shell station a couple of blocks north.

I went to Canadian Tire lastnight to buy the Bissell Quicksteamer. I found the shampooer section and the shampooer that I wanted on display but I was confused as I didn't see the box that matched the shampooer on display. I couldn't find someone working in my area so I went to the customer service desk and they called someone to come help me. He was there in less than 30 seconds. :) We went to the shampooer section and as it turns out, the red shampooer has been updated and they are now black., he told me that the UPC code was the same :) He took my box to the cash for me, a cashier helped me pick up the heavy box and scan it through the self check out! That was soooo nice of her to help me! Now I have a wonderful black carpet shampooer that works great, I got a great deal... it was 99$ and everyone at Canadian Tire was a big help! Thanks so much! I really appreciate it.

I was also able to donate my Canadian Tire money to Haiti Relief as they have jars to donate at every cash register.
