My water heater was installed by Consumer's Gas in 1998 . It sprang a leak. so I called DE to come and service my rental. The lady advised me that a $99 charge applied. After paying $23.99 a month for the last 3 years this charge seemed wrong to me and customer service agreed with me. The assessment person came and assessed that it should be replaced at no charge because it's a rental. 3 hours later the installation crew show up and tell me that an extra charge of $225 is applicable because the water heater they brought to install was taller than the old one and the flue gas vent pipes had to be moved to conform to code. I am told that a minimum 8 of 10 installations would require this same action. A new rental installation would not be charged for the flue gas venting within 10 feet of the unit. Given this information one could reasonably expect that these extra charges were predictabe (8 in 10 installations require this) and demonstrate an underhanded and hidden expense to the consumer that is a pathetic cash grab and completely devoid of good customer service policy. This was my experience and I have been wronged by Direct Energy's deceitful Policy and Procedures.

I was a little cautious to deal with Direct Energy. But the sales rep was very informative and saved me several hundred dollars over a competitors quote. I would have paid for things I didn't need. Not to mention the energy savings I'll get with the new more efficient furnace and air conditioning unit. Installation was perfect, on schedule, and very quick. I would recommend Direct Energy to anyone.

With aging pipes, electrical wiring, air conditioner, furnace and appliances, the cost of maintenance and repairs was soon to add up. Direct Energy offers service and maintenance plans to cover each or all. I chose the whole home option. For about $40 per month, everything is covered. So far this year I've had over $400 worth of pipe work done, and over $200 of appliance work. As well, my furnace and air conditioner have been inspected/cleaned. (I've been fortunate to not have my usual heating problems this year, but in the past service has always been efficient).

Yesterday had leaking pipe. Called at 2pm for repair and service tech was there by 4:30. I could barely order a pizza in the same time!!

I've more than covered my cost, and I'm only 4 months into the plan!

Service is great, phone staff is friendly. When I failed to call them back, they followed up with several calls and messages. Highly recommend them.
