Good:
The gym is clean-ish, the staff is approachable but don't go out of their way for you.
The hours are decent even though they boast 24 hours, they are not. They aren't 24 hours on the weekend when most people would go irregular hours.
The machines are newer I guess. I'm not sure I never use machines. They just got a full load of new free weights.
The cardio rooms are nice and big. They have 2 cardio rooms and 1 women's only room. 1 Cardio room is a cycling studio.
They have a daycare on site. I can't comment on this since I don't have kids.
They have 3 pools. 1 lap pool, 1 aerobic pool (it's only about 3.5 feet deep), and a hot tub. I can't comment on those since I don't use them. I find it gross to use pools in a gym when people are sweaty. They are salt water and not chlorine.
Bad:
The place is packed during peak hours. You WILL wait for weights/machines/cables. Peak hours I'd say are around 4-8pm weekdays and 10am - 2pm weekends.
The free weights are scattered throughout the place and it's sometimes hard to find the ones you want.
The members, as the title suggests, are annoying. They bother you while you are working out, steal your weights when you leave your towel on them to fill your water, and stand around and talk on a bench that you're waiting for. Most of the people there lift with HORRIBLE form and it makes me cringe. I'm surprised I haven't seen a shoulder pop out, a bicep snap, or a back break yet. That's how bad they are.
There are a TON of highschool kids there. They also like to check themselves out in the mirrored walls every 3 seconds. I find it funny since they are so tiny but they act like they are Branch Warren. I use the mirrors for their purpose in a gym. FORM! Again, this goes back to the previous point.
The music is sometimes useless. Either its too low or it's not something you want to be lifting weights to (i.e. Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, etc.)
Most of the heart rate monitors on the treadmills do not work, but the machines are new enough and have a good spring to diminish ankle/knee pain.
The escalators work 50% of the time. This is okay 5 days of the week except on leg days. Then I wish the damn thing would work.
Overall I would agree this gym is sufficient for most gym goers. However, I'm looking for a new one since I could pay the same or less at a less populated gym and get a better work out. I'm getting sick of the vanity type gyms. You're there to work out and not to dress up, check yourself out every 5 seconds, hit on girls, and drink your Tim Horton's.
This seems to be a company standard for Goodlife - I was a member of the Ottawa location and they also charged me past my cancellation date.... very irritating.
I am glad to hear that it just isnt myself they do this to. My bank refunded me the money and now the bank goes after them because Goodlife did not have authorization to take that payment out of my account. The bank commented on how its not the first time this has happened with GoodLife Fitness in WIndsor Ontario
